There was enough support expressed for re-seeding at the end of the round that I'm planning for it unless more opposition mounts (eyebooger was the only one who spoke up against it). So, if others are opposed, get your objections in now.

Anyway, if this is what ends up happening, it will likely get a tougher road.

The match dynamics drew me in and there were enough good workers involved to be very well rounded.

Bret/Austin. Just an amazing match, maybe Bret's best ever.

Well, this is easy. I'm going to say Bret/Austin.

Though, let's give good props to the cage match. Austin, in fact, was on commentary for that match. Angle's moonsault, off the cage, was a thing of beauty. If only he actually succeeds in hitting it. And great props to Benoit's headbutt, especially with his already destroyed neck that he needs a year off for recuperating, but still, its a spot that probably added to his demise.

But enough about that, Hart/Austin was the match that pretty much jump started the Austin era, as him as the dominant babyface who did the most of it to get the WWF out of the ratings despair and into the promise lands. And the match was pretty good as well.

NE 6 is a sick matchup. Looking forward to those after i do Smackdown this evening.

bret/austin absolutely amazing match.

Just watched Austin/Bret and damn what a match. Everything was gold from the time the glass broke for Austin's entrance till Austin's hobbling exit. Against a lot of the other matches I'd vote for the cage match but it got the short end of the seeding stick here.

I think a lot of the credit about the double turn working out so well needs to be given to Vince and JR. They do a masterful job of turning both with their commentary. Everything about the match is perfect, and I still say that Austin from the moment he won KIng of the Ring up until Wrestlemania 17 was hands down the coolest wrestling character ever.

Being soft enough to add "give me a hell yeah" to his repertoire is always a fact about Austin I find regrettable. Not as regrettable as "what?" of course, but still.

Regardless I was a big fan of the guy.

so true (although i'd extend past WM 17 to at least the Sept. ppv that year) and the austin/bret match at SSeries 96 gets overlooked way too much when people look back at that feud. it's an extraordinary mat wresting match.

i'm too much of a mark to boo anything Austin has ever done. the man is a legend and deserves some sort of homage paid to him the same way Flair does with "wooooooooo" after every chop.

Bret/Austin and I got to add giving that Angle/Benoit cage match a 16 seed feels wrong. But then there's a LOT of great matches out there so meh.

Have to admit after the fact that this was pretty wrong. I didn't remember this match and thought "LOL Raw match" and seeded it as a 16. I do think re-seeding will fix some of my errors, and as for those that get ousted in the first round...I mean meh, they still lost, and I probably wasn't SO far off that I cost them a final four run or anything.

Alright, Flair vs. Steamboat II obviously advances. New matchup incoming.

Flair/Steamboat

Magnum vs Tully is probably the worst match so far in the tournament and fittingly pitted against one of the top two matches and possibly the best match in the tourney (and north american history). Flair vs Steamboat wins my vote by an infinite # of miles.

In terms of selling, storytelling, and ring psychology, Magnum vs. Tully is one of the best. I can see almost considering it more like a barbaric fight or a felony then a match, however. And it's going against a match that is in the running for #1 of all time. So although I'd probably have Magnum v Tully in my own top 16, I vote Flair/Steamboat here.

The Angle/Benoit cage match was awesome! I haven't seen it since it happened and it was a lot better than I remembered.
