I hate picking against one of these, but I'm gonna go with Benoit/Angle.

I thought this was going to be a tough round to vote on. It wasnt. Benoit Angle easily, though that isnt necessarily a huge knock on the Ultimo Malenko match.

I'm going to go with Benoit/Angle but it was a pleasure seeing both of these matches again for maybe the first time since they were both on.

With the exception of Piper, Bret is the most overrated wrestler of all time imo.

So, I know there are a ton of Piper apologists, and I admit that I don't have full scope of his work since I'm only familiar with what he did after he turned face in the late 80's...do fans of Piper at least admit that he was basically completely awful for like the last 15 years of his career? Because that seems that it would be helpful context in assessing whether or not I would have liked his early stuff more.

HBK lost in an absolute classic to The Undertaker at WrestleMania XXV, and as the next year carried on he become openly obsessed with settling that score and beating The Undertaker. Taker had already beaten him and declined his challenges several times, but when HBK interfered to cause Undertaker to lose his world title at the Elimination Chamber, Taker said he’d do a rematch on one condition: Michaels had to put his career on the line.

The match that followed was another great one, and I don’t think it’s any secret to spoil the fact that this was Shawn Michaels’s final match. Thus, on top of every great technical merit this match can boast, it can also boast historical context.

It's just that Piper was one of those guys during the 90's that would get on the stick and cut the worst promos in the entire ****ing business and then tons of people go, "MAN, he's still got it on the mic!" And then I would go try to shoot myself, but I could never figure out how to work the safety.

As previously noted, if there's multiple editions of the same two wrestlers going at it, then they would be power ranked, put in the same region, and then seeded accordingly. Objectively it's better than a 12 seed, but that's how it's down that far.

Michaels vs. Undertaker is a great match, but especially with the knowledge in the back of my mind that there was a better edition of it, I just can’t bring myself to vote for it against TLC. TLC II is one that I’ll be pulling out of the time capsule periodically for the rest of my life to watch. I have to vote for its advancement here.

And I'm not even an Undertaker fan, but I have never been more enthralled in a single 3 second moment than when he jumped in the air and delivered a tombstone as a final last gasp to the match. Just incredible.

Jumping tombstone of death is really quite awesome though. Gotta give you that. What a cool way for Michaels to end his career.

I'm going to say HBK/Taker II.

Considering he has never delivered that move before or since, I just cant see voting against it at this point.

By the way, I think TLC 2 was also the inferior of the two matches, so its inferior vs. inferior, but while HBK/Taker 2 had JTOD, TLC2 had far too much interference and way too many breaks to set up spots. It doesnt flow quite as well as TLC1 in my mind.

In terms of my fandom Edge/Christian is my favorite tag team of all time, Neither Taker or Michaels breaks my top 5 singles wrestlers, yet it still gets my vote.

Gotta go with the TLC match. I'm a sucker for good technical wrestling or a big ol' spotfest, and TLC is the ultimate spotfest.

Again I'm going to take history into account a lot for my vote. And as great of a spotfest as TLC is, I can't vote against HBK/Taker 2. It's Shawn's last match ever and while it might not be as good as their first match it's still great. And as master said the jumping tombstone is probably the coolest move ever.
