I almost nominated Alicia Fox/Melina.

Well, just saw both matches. And be forewarn, I've watched Angle/Benoit numerous times, and I've called it one of my favorite and imo, one of the best matches ever. Now then, Malenko/Ultimo was good, good wrestling from what you expect out of these two great professionals.

Benoit/Angle had that as well, but I just love the reversals in that match so much more than Malenko/Ultimo and of course, the standing ovation for Benoit, which really means that they were into him throughout the match and throughout the buildup (it was so-so, simply just Angle/Benoit trying to prove that one is better than the other, as it should be when they have similar styles and size), so it had the drama aspect.

As a result, I stand by Angle/Benoit.

they had what i think was a much better match at Judgement Day 2002 a couple months before this match. Also the nominated 6/11/01 cage match is better.

You mean, Unforgiven 2002? Yeah, that match was good as well, but I think that match gets overlooked from the RR, probably because its for the title and that its at the Rumble, the starting point to the road to WM.

But man, they had like six good matches. The Cage match, WM 17, the 30-min submission iron match match, two out of three falls at Judgement day 2001, Unforgiven 2002, and Royal Rumble 2003.

I wanted to watch every match as it was posted and then vote but with them being posted so quickly one after another I haven't been able to do that. Obviously this is necessary so that we get through all them and I'm sure I will get to see all of the better matches in the later rounds.

I just rewatched Hogan/Rock and HBK/Angle and I have to say that Hogan/Rock is one of the great Wrestlemania moments but it is too sloppy to be a great match imo. Also wtf was going on with the camera work?

My vote goes to HBK/Angle. The best wrestler of the last 10 years vs the best performer of the last 10 years, both damn near their peaks, in a battle to outdo each other on the grandest stage of them all. I love the pace of the match, the story being told and the way it all built up to a satisfying and believable ending that 'put over' both men. With Angle having been out of WWE for so long it is easy to forget just how great his run there was but this match just reminds me how much I loved his matches and the intensity that he had.

Voting for Benoit/Angle @ RR 03. It's definitely the closest match for me so far. Had far more drama, a better crowd, and around the same effort in work rate and finish. Mike Tenay was really good in the Starrcade match though. He should be put on as a 3rd or 4th member to a wwe team some time. Deserves better than TNA imo.

I vote for UD/Malenko. Neither match really did it for me, I would have vote Rock/Hogan and HBK/Angle over both.

I vote Angle/Michaels. Hogan/Rock was pretty good but not as good as Angle/Michaels. I don't have any nostalgic feelings towards Hogan at all, which might be the main explanation for the support he got during the match.

HBK Angle. Its just my kind of match entirely start to finish ticking the boxes on everything i want from a match.

Btw, id like to formally assert that HBK is the most underrated wrestler, possibly of all time. If you put him at like the fourth best ever you are like 3 places away from correctness imo. I may or may not be influenced by the fact that he has been in like every single voting round so far, lol.

Ive never been a fan of Flair at all. Im curious to see if im going to reassess my opinion.

Personally I think Flair is the most over-rated of all time but I'm sure I'll be in the minority by saying that.

So much this. Maybe with the exception of Flair, there isn't another wrestler who had so many great match with so many different peopl. HBK even had a great match with Nash and Goldberg, how many people can say that?

As a worker HBK was amazingly talented but I wouldn't even put him in the top tier for one simple reason: Benoit, Bret Hart, Steamboat, Flair always gave it their all in ring, whereas HBK would clown a match if he felt like it.

Other then in ring workrate, I think the best I can see for him is a paraphrase of an old Observer quote: Shawn Michaels apparently is a good heel. Unfortunately, it isn't an act.

This round is close to a toss up in my opinion. Can I vote for Malenko/Dragon on the basis that Koko B Ware is in the WWE hall of fame yet Malenko isn't?
