I mean I realize that the answer is ultimately "it's become a meme that the fans haven't shouted down, and Tony Khan doesn't care about fixing it, so deal with it," but mostly I throw it out there for discussion in case someone has something to say in defense of it, some point I could be missing.

The "deal with it" line, while probably the only thing that's really left to say, is also probably not going to drag me out of Camp Cornette kicking and screaming. But hey, if I'm here yelling at clouds then it means I haven't fully given up yet.

Semantics - do you count rolling out of the ring/distractions as finisher kickouts?
The AEW Thread Quote
09-01-2021 , 08:01 PM
Nah, I don't. Even the foot on the rope thing seems to be a carve-out even though I think it's dumb (at least as it's generally executed). The announcers always put it over as if the person putting the foot on the rope got lucky, so the finisher stays protected.

Anyway, I'm in for Dynamite.

By the way, they forgot to not hire Justin Roberts.

I know it's a common thing, but I can hardly think of a worse way to pay tribute to Eddie than by doing his dumbest signature spot. The Three Amigos was always just silly.

Credit due, they've immediately hooked me into this Jericho-MJF thing. I'm sure that's to do with a long-standing love of Jericho, but still.

So...I see that someone is paying actual money to Billy Gunn in the year 2021 to participate on a wrestling show.

I don't really know this Britt Baker woman, but it appears that she aids and abets sing-along and therefore should be put in prison.

Lol, I’ve got some bad news about your boy Jericho for ya. Not only does he also do this, it’s to his own band’s song.

Oh I'm not surprised, I know it's everywhere and definitely never going away. I knew back in 1998 when fans sang along with Jeff Jarrett saying "ain't I great" that that was one genie that was NEVER going back in the ****ing bottle.

Seriously, people sang along with Jeff Jarrett.

Jeff Jarrett.

I love Thunder Rosa. Outside of Nick Aldis, she was the best thing about NWA Powerrr before she jumped.

Has anyone ever pulled Gallows and Anderson aside and politely explained to them that they're one of the least interesting tag teams in wrestling history and should find some other path to go with their careers? Or is the thinking just that they've got enough of a foothold to cling to any wrestling contract at all, and it's like having a MoviePass subscription where you're in such disbelief that you're getting the deal at all that you just go with it?

Yeah, Thunder Rosa is awesome.

AEW’s women division is still a bit shaky, but they’re getting there. Biggest hindrance seems to be Tony Khan himself. Kenny (who supervises the division) always makes it sounds like he’s fighting for more time behind the scenes. Seems like the addition of Rampage will help in that regard.

Agreed, I’m not into the Good Brothers at all.

****ing love everyone else onscreen right now.

Aren't the Young Bucks just fiercely anti-psychology spot guys?

I don't have enough knowledge to know that, only that it's their rep and that it seems like the type of rep that could only ever be well-earned.

At first glance, they def appear to be spot monkeys. Upon closer inspection, it’s clear that their place as the “best tag team in the world” is well deserved. They’re seriously the the most fun tag team I’ve ever seen.

I wouldn’t say their psychology is underrated, as most people seem to have the same reaction of, “They’re just spot monkeys, no wait… okay this is good. This is awesome.”

The women's division is a ****ing joke. They put the bare minimum of effort into it. Until Rampage debuted, it was literally 1 match per week and no real stories or feuds except whoever the latest challenger for Britt Baker's title and then Jade Cargill doing yet another "I'm that *****" promo. Now it's 2 matches per week and they're doing a little bit more with it. So hopefully it continues to improve.

They need to do women's factions. They have stated that that's one of the reasons why AEW is so faction heavy. It makes it easier to write stories and to get more wrestlers involved and have TV time. Britt Baker kind of has a faction now, with her, Rebel and Jamie Hayter. I would've thought that a joshi faction would be easy to put together but most of them can't speak English except Shida who only got to do 1 in ring promo after being champ for a year.

So it's clear what they think about anyone who isn't Britt Baker. We'll see if some interesting stories come out of the Battle Royale. Another sign that they don't care about the women's division is that they have put a women's match on the free, preshow match for the last 4 PPVs and the Battle Royale only got bumped into the main show due to the Pac/Andrade match being cancelled.

Malakai Black is probably the coolest looking wrestler out there right now. Such a dope entrance.

Just gonna go ahead and say RIP Lee Johnson.

I haven't gotten a ppv since Anarchy Rulz 1999. I was contemplating this one but can't figure out how to stream it on PS4 and I got rid of cable many years ago.

Try the FITE TV app on your PS4?

Searched the apps and don't see it there. Signed up on the web version so I might get it after all . Maybe can watch through the browser on PS4

edit: some googling suggests that's how to use fite through PS4.
