Big fields, good structure preferred.

Does this happen weekly? Are there notable events to look for other than WSOP circuit?
The Sunday $150 "Mystery Bounty" at River City isn't terrible. 40-50 players last time I played, and with $50 bounties, it isn't impossible to recoup your investment even if you don't go deep. All the casinos have sites with calendars of events, and you if you're from the area or have ever been here, you can accurately guess the number of players based on the casino hosting.

The River City $150 Bounty tournament at noon on Sundays is great. I played the last two Sundays, and the fields were 100 and 105, respectively. It's the best tournament in town right now.

A group was robbed at gunpoint near Lumiere last week, and a man was shot and killed. The parking lot at the casino is not well monitored and it's downright creepy walking from your car. There's no way I'll play at Lumiere unless they implement valet parking. It's too bad the WSOP Circuit has moved from the old Harrah's (now Hollywood) because a lot of local poker players won't consider playing at Lumiere because of the security issues. The uncle of a friend of mine was shot in their parking lot a few years back.

Lumiere needs to do a better job protecting its patrons

Pretty tough to do considering it's located in the slums.

Got back from Vegas the other day and noticed that Ameristar has recently gone back to ten-handed tables. Anyone know why? Is it a space issue? I certainly hope they didn't do it because of customer preference...

Possibly space reasons. Every single table was filled Friday night. Obviously, with a 9 handed table, a casino is going to take more rake from the players as they can run more games.

As a player, 9 or 10 doesn't matter to me. But I know many customers don't like 9 handed tables as the table gets "short" easier and short tables, in this market, basically means the game is going to break up.

Good to know - thanks.

I asked one time while I was down there and was informed they don't have it!

Whatever happened to 2-5 games in STL? Is this simply a 1/2 and 1/3 town now? I know there's a lot of solid gamblers in the area. I remember a few years ago being down there at Lumiere and getting into a SICK 5-10 game. I also recall plenty of 2-5 action while vacationing there for a week back in 2010.

I assume PLO is what happened to 2/5.

I check in on STL on Bravo every now and then and only ever see 1/3 games. Must be a dead city for poker

Just did a random check. There is 2-5 game at Lumiere, and ameristar has a 1-2-5 PLO game and a 5-10 NL. Appears all have lists.

Not sure if that is sign of a dead or not. I'll let you make that call.

Ok ok. Good point. I don't think this is the norm tho. I guess I never thought to check Ameristar. I always thought that place was kind of a Grandpa Joe spot for old foggies playing 2-4 limit and 1-2 NL

Ameristar having the most games and the most variety these days is the norm. You are right it was not the case until recently and was primarily a limit room (with 1 or 2 1-3 games).

Keep an eye on bravo and you will be surprised what is playing. When I was there last thursday I believe I remember them having 20/40 limit, 1-2-5 PLO and 5-10nl.

All correct. If anyone is interested in OH8 limit, we play $10/20 with a half kill starting at noon everyday on Saturday at Ameristar. You can call in at 10AM to grab a seat, they generally fill up very quickly at the start.

20/40 Limit is only on Wednesdays and Fridays. 5-10 NL on Tues, Thurs. 1-2-5 PLO everyday, 5-5 PLO on Saturdays, 10-20 O/8 Limit on Saturday, they also have 1-2-5 PLO/8 on Thursdays and Big O a couple days a week. 2-5 goes at Ameristar on Weekends sporadically.

Anyone know if the Omaha games at Ameristar ever run as 1-2 or they always 1-2-5?

What is the point if 1-2-5? Just make it 2-5, imo, as that's what it plays like.

*Plays more like 5/10+

Yeah I don't know, that's just what it is. I'd prefer to play lower for my brs sake but it's a red chip game.

Average stacks are like 1k+? Also how soft is the field? Players calling for two outs and the such?

I just moved here from Minneapolis/Detroit so getting a feel for things.

No I just mean plo plays way bigger than nl. That's just the way the game plays.

I have never played anywhere where the average plo player was as good as St. Louis.

I haven't played everywhere but Chicago, Vegas, Florida are all significantly easier.

Still, where there is water, there are fish.

You probably want another opinion though so don't take my word for it. I've been wrong before.

First time visiting the Ameristar poker room today. Does the entire room always smell this bad? It's like a football locker room.
