The local player nicknamed Action Dan.

Mid 60's bald. Very tight. Quiet most of the time, but friendly. His wife plays too, but normally at Hollywood while he plays at Ameristar.

I believe it was a heart attack over the weekend.

Can anyone recommend a decent reasonably priced and safe hotel to stay at during the circuit event? Thanks!

I looked in last Thursday and Friday on STLToday.com. All I could search for was first name starting with Dan. Didn't find anything that looked right.

I just checked on he STLToday app. I guess the obit was published on Sunday. Service was on Monday. Last name starts with a B. If you read the guestbook there have been a few people from the poker scene to leave their condolences.

Thanks for the heads up on that stud game. I saw them playing it a few weeks ago for my brother in-laws 30th and we were wondering if that was a one-off deal or not.. I'm new to it and will go hit that up very soon.

If anyone wants to get some 50-100+ limit (any game) going or some 10/25 PLO at river city, send me a PM. I'm sure I can get it spread if there's any interest at all.

Thinking of moving from Las vegas to St Louis within the next 6 months to be closer to my family that lives out that way. How does the poker scene compare to Vegas? Right now I'm grinding 1-2, 1-3 and occasionally 2-5 here and hourly is about $15/hr. (baller, I know.. hehe)

Is the cost of living much higher in St Louis?

Most cost of living calculators show the city to be about 11% cheaper than Las Vegas. It just depends on where you choose to live. Living somewhere in the middle between the casinos in St. Charles and the ones towards downtown can have both expensive and cheap areas.

Playing full time in STL or grinding as a hobby in your spare time? Game selection on weekends is good enough. During the week, good luck with that.

Not much of any 2/5 action right now. I'd hate to try to grind a living at 1/3 or 1/2. Not much margin of error in that. And your lifestyle would suck too.

Talking about table selecting.

Ameristar on the Weekend would probably be alright.

Saw Ameristar is having a new game on Fridays at 3pm- 6/12 limit hold em- starting March 6th, it's on Bravo.

That and 2/5 NL is suppose to run as well.

for whatever reason in st louis, its easier to get a 5/10 game than a 2/5. In my experience anyway.

Hello,

On 03/14/2015 5:00 p.m. my son's Baseball Team is having a Poker Tournament (NL Texas Hold'em) fund raiser in St. Charles County. Winner gets $700 (turnout was better than expected last year so winner got $800). Prizes start at 8th place.

The cost is $40 in advance, $50 at the door.

It is a great time and very few will play well. Even moderately experienced poker players should do very well!

If you are interested please post or PM me and I will email information.

Thanks in advanced!
Dan

Anyone hit up the WSOP-C event at Lumiere?

I was unable to attend this year; too busy. Mainly interested in opinions on the cash games.

Anyone play in the 6/12 lhe game at Ameristar yesterday? The interest list was full when I checked bravo and was just wondering how it turned out. Unfortunately I doubt I'd be able to make it out there on Fridays.

From what I heard from a player in the game, several players were complaining about it only being 8 handed so they stopped playing. Also the person I spoke with, who is a 20/40 reg, said several of the players were 20/40 regulars waiting to get into that game. They opened a backup 20/40 after the 6/12 game went down.

I was next to it playing Omaha 8. Saw it go from full to 4 handed and people griping, of course no one ever wants to play short handed! Then it broke. I think it lasted a total of 3-4 hours.

LOL it's a wonder it's hard to get certain games going these days.
