Hey guys,
I'm going to turn 21 on Saturday and plan to travel to Seattle to play some poker and go shopping and I'm travelling from Vancouver, BC.

Where would you recommend to go? I plan to go to Seattle premium outlet malls or whaterver its called, but I would absolutely love to play some poker. In Vancouver I play 1/2 NL and would like to go to a place with a good enviornment (not grumpy locals).

Anyways, any advice would be great!

There is a bunch of outlet stores right by Tullalip which spreads a 1/3 NL game around the clock.

There aren't any no limit games in Seattle.

Honestly I think the nicest crowd of people is at Snoqualmie. Muckleshoot and all the shoreline area casinos have the douchiest regs and meanest locals in my experience. IDK, it's kind of a vibe thing but people seem pretty uptight at the muck and shoreline area casinos. I suspect this is b/c they are in relatively crappy areas and the clientele has more people playing out of their means whereas sno and tulalip to a lesser extent draw a lot of rich people who just want to have fun and dont care about the $ amounts.

Anyone think we have a shot at producing a decent mid-stakes mix game around Seattle? I'm talking at least 10/20 plus, anyone interested in trying and getting something like that going. I'm really motivated, since I'm so damn bored of NLH and PLO. I think mix games are the future of poker since the cash games in Vegas are full of fish in those game.

I would gladly play in it. I would prefer a draw game to be included but will realistically play anything. The 10/20 mixed game that ran at Parker's was a ****ing gold mine forever.

My Seattle area poker wish list:

A PLO game with smaller blinds/buyins than SNO's $600 minimum buy-in (e.g. 1/2 blinds $100-$500 buy-in). A smaller buy-in/game would be more enticing to the curious.

A regular mid-level mixed game or dealer's choice game.

I usually play at the Muck, but would be willing to play elsewhere so long as the game is dependable.

That is one of the worst generalizations I've ever read on Internet.
I suspect you haven't gotten off the freeway much in the Everett (Tulalip) area. There are multiple neighborhoods in stone-throwing distance of Tulalip that make ghetto LA look pleasant.

And don't forget Snohomish county's national ranking in meth production.

I think one thing that may be skewing your perception is the hotel factor.
Tulalip markets itself as a "resort" with hotel & spa. People travel from out of the area to that area. Muck is merely a casino. And the oldest one. Much higher % of locals.

Put me on the list if you guys want to make it a home game, or any home game for that matter. I'm cool with rakeless poker and all game types. I can probably gather 1-3 microsoft types, enthusiast/amateurs.

I'll play anything $50-$500 buy in, probably not more and not interested in micros atm. Eastside preferred but Seattle's fine. PM me if you want to try and plan something.

you sure you're not on meth? he was talking about Snoqualmie not Tulalip.

also nowhere in Seattle makes ghetto LA looks pleasant.. this coming from someone who's lived in both cities.

I pretty much agree with this aside from the hideaway, all the other shoreline casinos have been pretty bad to play at.

Seems to me he lumped them both together, with the "whereas" inferring they are not in "crappy areas". I would agree 100% if it were only Snoqualmie. But to say they are even remotely comparable in terms of "niceness of location" is LOL funny. And why I believe it to be a gross generalization. But then, generalizing an entire geographic area based on the (perceived) clientele of the area's poker room is pretty funny, too.

But yes, you got me, I made a horrendous comparison with Everett and LA ghettos. An extreme statement. Not a fair comparison. LA still has appeal despite its ghettos. Everett is still just Everett. And it sure ain't Seattle.

how about iron horse next to emerald downs somebody told me its soft when i was out there but i didnt have time to sit there or at the muck

It's been awhile since I've been to iron horse, but the "regs" there were almost all dealers/staff from other casinos (many from muckelshoot).

That may or may not make the games "soft", depending on your interpretation.

It was (is) kind of an odd place to go just for poker, though, as the muck is right up the road with much better games (imo). Always felt like kind of a "employee breakroom poker game" with the local dealers. Many don't like to play where they work, even if allowed.

Looking back on it, putting tulalip and sno in the same class regarding clientele and location is a stretch, but I did say "tulalip to a lesser extent". Compared to the muck as well as the minis in shoreline, I still think tulalip is way nicer. IMHO it attracts more tourists and rich people b/c of the resort i guess.

ok i was staying right next door basically at the travelodge behind turn 1 at the track and almost wandered in there but ran out of time. the person who said it was soft may or may not know anything about poker at all. i wanted to go to the muck and exp seattles version of no limit

Fair enough.
I did fixate on one small section of your post for a derail.
And yes, Tulalip is nicer than Muck.
All the non-tribal rooms kind of blend together for me.

Snoqualmie has the advantages of being new and in close proximity to A LOT of households with plenty of "disposable income" to spend in the casino.

I'd be intersted. Let me know if this goes anywhere.

Wow, they actually used to have this game? I only remember them consistently having 1-4. Is that what you mean by spread limit? Or did they actually run a stud game similar to their NL games with a cap on the betting?

To be honest, I miss the small game as well. It had a good structure and was very beatable, even if it was lo limit. You could make decent money if you put the time into it. They did have a 2-10 game occasionally as well.

I've not seen any stud games around the Seattle area, however, I was looking at the various casino's in this state the other night and noticed they spread stud in Eastern WA. I can't remember which casino but do remember being kinda surprised and noting it.

I miss stud all together so if anyone learns of a game please let me know. I'm also curious if there are any games running in Southern CA anymore.

The Commerce offers low limit (4-8?), 20-40, 30-60, and 100-200 daily.

Nice, thanks.

I really gotta move back. Southern California is where it's at, for poker, and for other things as well. So easy to get "stuck" up here if you're a poker player. I've been here for 15 years now, and that's about 13 too many

Obv there's many reasons to love Seattle/the NW, but again it's just tough for poker...especially with online gone.

Anyone at the Muck for "Super Sunday"? Some poor soul had $1000 ripped out of their hands when their quad aces were beaten by a straight flush literally in the last few seconds before the hour...
