At the time I busted out of the Friday Tulalip tournament, around 8:15pm, the waiting list for 1/3 was 36 players long.

- Tulalip: Horrible food, worse than Hideaway. Good bathrooms. Only NLHE no limit games which is wierd to me. Worst parking
- Muckleshoot - decent food. Worst bathrooms - mens room floors will be covered in piss even on fri/sat/sunday nights. Best people watching with free shows on weekends. HH promos are lame, except for bad beat which is pretty good when they start lowering the qualifying hands - I've seen the bad beat get hit three times in the past year (2x HE, 2x O/8 BB). Once it gets to quad 5s beat I'd say its +EV to grind there. 3/6 limit game is filled with OMCs, 4/8 limit has THE WORST PLAYERS EVER so do not play if you get tilted when you wake up with AA and 4 people call your $4 raise and they bust you with K5s.
- Wizards - Decent food, mostly clean bathrooms. Table games right next to poker tables bring in gambool. Best food comp of $9. Beware regs get into levelling wars at times, like K9 winning a $300+ pot on a xxxx9x board yesterday. Best regs in the area to play against
You are an idiot if you think the food at Tulalip is horrible. The Cedars Cafe = best restaurant in the state (let alone casino restaurant) bar none.

The Seafood Chowder I recently had tableside at Tulalip was excellent. Their Halibut was not, quite dry with no sauce and hardly seasoned. The mashed potatoes it was was served with were terrible but the veggie medley was tasty. Also recently had the burger, wouldn't order that again either. It's sirloin but too lean of a blend. The fries were similar to McDonalds and are good though.

I think every other meal I had while in the Seattle area was better than the food at Tulalip, so it's ridiculous that anyone could consider Cedars to be the best restaurant in the state

I love the Cedars Cafe as if it was my child. The Cedars is literal perfection. There is absolutely zero room for improvement. I'm not even trying to be sarcastic I truly believe this.

Tulalips default poker room menu was served from the buffet i believe and was pure pig slop. If you like this more power to you.

Wizards must have cleaned their soda tap lines or something, they now have the best poker room diet.

tulalips lettuce wraps with shrimp from this asian place is one of the top 5 things I have ever had. Seafood chowder is good as well but people have high standards, living in Seattle where food is, across the board, very good.

As for me, the Tulalip clam chowder is outstanding. So are the salmon dishes.

Yeah not to pile on Steve but I've found the food to be very good at Tulalip as well. The chicken caeser at the sports bar across from the poker room is excellent and enough food for 2 people.

So is the trick to getting good food at tulalip to NOT order it from the poker room? And instead go to one of the restaurants?

How does it compare to table-side at El Gaucho?

I am still skeptical that Tulalip has top tier food.

My two recommendations right-off the Tulalip poker room menu. Since poker chips are filty, I do not eat finger food or sandwiches when playing. When waiting for a seat, the sports-bar burgers at the Tulalip are quite good.

Sorry for being lazy, I dont remember if discussion of Lil's closing here got beyond the rumor stage, but it is confirmed closing. I guess they'll give 60 day notice, and they have not done that yet.

agreed. It's so gross when I see people eating finger food, giving their hands a one sec wipe on a napkin, and then pick up their cards/chips. Eventually everyones touching that ****.

Remember the Myth Busters episode where the level and danger of bacteria samples found on common objects like keyboards, cell phones was compared to toilet bowl bacteria samples?

I suspect toilet bowls are in second place to poker chips.

It's actually possible to eat pretty healthy, decent food at Tulalip now. You can order stuff from Cedars that's not on the menu. My last session, I ordered a grilled chicken breast, cottage cheese and two eggs. Most of the servers can accommodate orders like that, although a few won't or don't know how, not really sure which it is.

This is true. I regularly order two grilled chicken breasts from the Cedars and it is $6. I also order two hard-boiled eggs from them as a snack while I am playing regularly as well. Muckleshoot makes the same accommodations as well.

It's going to be a sad day in Seattle LHE without Diamond Lil's.

It's been a series of sad days for LHE in general for about the last 10 years, unfortunately. The downward trend in Seattle is just one more example.

Agreed. Hopefully most of the business moves down the street like they're trying to do.

The Hideaway is trying to start a twice (?) weekly 8/16 fixed-limit game on Saturdays and I think another day. I played it yesterday and it was OK, not great, but the owner thinks it will do well and the room will see a boom once football season is over.

She's also open to starting a 15/30 or 20/40 game, particularly since the closing of Lil's might be an opportune time. However, it would be a disaster for the poker community if the small mid-limit player pool got split so this isn't something I'm going to push for without a sense that there's enough North End player pool to make it stable.

I take it you're talking about everywhere (except maybe LA and San Jose), and you are correct. Actually limit poker has been more robust in Seattle than in the non-coastal US. We still have 20/40 most days; 8/16 almost around the clock; and the various limit non-HE game that the Hideaway spreads.

(For comparison, last I knew, Tunica had 10/20 to 20/40 only on the weekends, plus small stakes O8 and an unplayable stud game. Detroit had 3/6 LHE, a 15/30 LHE/Omaha high mix three days a week, and 5/10 O8 a couple of days a week.)

Since you sound like you've been at the Hideaway recently (or maybe someone else reading this thread), do you know if the 15/30 O8 is still going once a week? Also, I heard they are playing open-faced chinese (or maybe just regular 13 card) one day a week. Do you happen to know what day?

Also, are they actually playing 6/12 HORSE on Saturdays? The calendar says so, but I thought that game had died.

I'm a 20/40 Lil's recreational reg, but planning what's next once the room closes. I have a really hard time playing 3/5 NL at the Muck/Tulalip (I end up getting bored and shooting dice/playing blackjack instead) and prefer limit games these days. But I really can't stand playing lower than 8/16 if I can help it because of the rake.

I think there is a decent chance the game will successfully move down the street from Diamon Lil's like all the regs are expecting, but I have my doubts.

By the way, the stuff about parking being the deciding factor is closing the room is a pretext. I'm not going to go into details but anyone who thinks the room is truly closing because they can't get enough parking might want to read between the lines a little bit.
