Wow there's a lot of small card rooms that I missed. Does anyone have information on:
  • Pete's 881 Club
  • Kelly's Cardroom
  • 101 Casino
  • River Rock Casino

Moreover, is River Rock considered part of the bay area? If so, do they still have poker?

I can't answer any of the questions you asked, but I'll point out a few other small ones you missed: the Palace in Hayward, Napa Valley Casino, and two in Livermore - Livermore Casino and The Lucky Buck. I've also heard of one in Gilroy called the Garlic City Casino.

Ah, I vaguely remember a Garlic City Casino. Never been there; don't know anything about it. I didn't miss the other four cardrooms you mentioned.

I've been there. They had 1/2 NL game going. I think they have a daily tournament and they mentioned an occasionaly crazy pineapple game.

I frequent the 101 Casino in Petaluma
.
3/6, 4/8 limit most hours.
2/5 NL goes from 9am to early am hours. Usually 3 tables by afternoon. $4+$1 drop for rake and BBJ(quad 10's or better, but will change to quad 8's or better after current is hit). Buy-in $100 to $500.
There is a 5/10 NL $5000 max that I believe runs most afternoons/evenings.

There is a mini BBJ that starts at $600 - Aces full or better.

Mexican Stud and 4/8 Omaha run occasionally.

I cannot attest to all weekend differences.

Amenities include free breakfast if seated before 10am Mon-Fri. A players cards gets you something like $1 an hour food comp and occasional freeroll tourney access. I believe the last one was the 10 ten point earners playing in a big tourney at Capitol Casino in September.

River Rock no longer has a poker room. Also, construction is underway on a full casino in Rohnert Park with a targeted opening late next year/early 2013.

Sadly, no more poker at the River Rock.

Why "Sadly"?

They never really tried to make the poker room a success did they? I know the room was a nice locale, but interest declined quickly.
I heard that they even turned down the Heartland Poker Tour.
Anyway for just cards River Rock is a tough location compared to 101.

I went to AJ today so I'm able to filled in some of blanks on my spreadsheet. They have 2/3/5 on the board now, a game they weren't spreading when I was there half a year ago. They advertise an omaha jackpot, but the only games on the board are hold'em games.

It was packed. At some point they ran out of poker table so they used an empty baccarat table for 6/12 and an empty blackjack table for 3/6. It was pretty entertaining watching dealers scramble around the room looking for table 18 (baccarat table in the high limit area surrounded by fish tanks, not numbered) and table 20 (blackjack table on the asian side, not even in the poker room, also not numbered).

Promos change all the time. It's best to call the cardroom than to look at a spreadsheet that is most likely out of date. For example, who knows how long AJ will have a 100k BBJ with a lowered qualifier (aces full of jacks beaten by quads or better)

Now that I think of it, I should add a "last confirmed" column in my spreadsheet.

AJ's BBJ was hit a week ago, don't show up expecting BBJ for AAAJJ < 2222 until around January at least.

"Sadly" due to the fact that they had a very loyal player base and the room operated profitably. They had a GM that wanted to promote the room, but replaced him soonafter he brought me in to run it. The new GM (rightly so) decided that in order to increase EBITDA, slot machines would get him closer to his goal. It was tough to close a room that was doing that well financially and put those employees out of work (8 days before Christmas).

You're right, the location was a killer along with the restriction for signage directing people to the casino. 101 is much easier for people to get to, plus a lot more people live in the area so you always have games going.

As Paul Harvey says.... And now you know the rest of the story.... lol.

Dude, naming names is seriously uncool.

But he's not a non-famous player. He's a famous basketball player.

On a similar note, I think Rapini mod this subforum very lightly. Every time I see a non-famous card room employee named in a post, I report it but it never gets censored.

It's a basketball player, I don't see a problem with naming names. I have read stories in this forum about Ludacris gambling it up at Commerce. And other actors/musicians as well.

Is the PLO at Lucky Chances still going on Tuesdays? What time does it start, and is it any fun/good?

I have never played PLO live before at a Casino. Sounds fun.

Let's see if I'm understanding this correctly: Because you've seen someone else show a flagrant disregard of the need for stewardship of the hunting and fishing grounds, that means it's okay for this lummox to show the same disregard?

We don't out our customers. We want them to be happy and comfortable when they play, and we don't want their name showing up in a Google Alert the next day to cause them to regret it.

There's someone in the Garden City thread trying to startup PLO. LC at one point had PLO actually listed as an option on their waitlist but is no longer there.

I think its cute how you call them customers. (And by cute, I mean douchey). But some of us play the game for both fun and profit. And knowing a "celeb" frequents a legit establishment could enhance someone else's enjoyment when they go there.

While I personally agree with you, there's no rule against "outing" celebrities, whether they be poker celebrities or otherwise. And if you guys think that the wording of the guideline is unclear on that, please shoot me some suggestions on how I can make it clearer.

We do indeed mod this subforum VERY lightly. There's only a couple of the B&M guidelines that apply here.

However, the prohibition against naming cardroom staff is one of them that does apply. So if you have pointed that out to me in the past and I have missed it, please let me know via PM (or Report Post) so that I can take care of it and thank you for your initial report if I somehow lost track of it.

Pissing in the swimming pool? Give me a break with all of your "don't tap the glass" cliches. They aren't your customers, it isn't your pool.

Here is another shocking thought, I talk to the other players at the table too. I don't just sit there with my shades on and try to take all their money. I like to have some fun. And if someone is friendly and asks me what I thought of a hand, I actually tell them, right there at the table. You know why? Because I am not some douchey *******.
