p.s. A dealer told us that sometime in the early hours of Saturday
Now that is about as bad as it can get. Absolute joke.

Poto making terrible decision after terrible decision.

Apparently its ten handed because some of the bigger players complained that table would get short handed when players would go to lunch/dinner and someone else would take a break.

On a 7 PM dealer switch you get up to get a lunch ticket and get to the podium at 7:03 PM. Your ticket is good till 8:05 PM. You come back at 8:05 PM and don't pay for the 8-8:30 PM collection. So they didn't collect from you at 7:00,7:30,8:00...what a great system.

If you really wanted to be nitty about it you could only do play-overs and only start 1 minute after each collection and leave before the next collection and essentially never pay rake.

well yeah, but you also only played 25 min of poker rake-free. and i'm sure there are plenty of times when players go 25 min without winning a pot. that's essentially rake-free poker for losing players.

time rake benefits the more aggressive players and hurts the nitty old men. so i'm happy to pay $6 time instead of $6 rake at a 1/2 game.

Are these new rake rules only for 1/2 nlhe? What about PLO? Or the LO8 game? Does the 1/2 PLO/PLO8 still run on Thursdays?

PLO and rbr already went to timed rake, I believe at all blind levels.

The $6 per half hour is only for $1-$2 NLHE. All PLO games are still $7 per half hour. The $1/$2 PLO/PLO8 still runs every Thursday and often has a main game and a feeder table after 6PM.

Played about 6 hours and lost $100 Friday, won about $400 in 7 hours Saturday. Both were at 1/2 with $300 buy-ins. NOW, Sunday was CRAZY. I lost two buy-ins of $300 and 1 buy-in of $500 at 3/5 and proceeded to whittle down my 2nd buy-in of $500 at 3/5 into $300 before table broke and I was forced to go to 1/2. From there, I ran the $300 to over $1200, from there, went down to $200, and from there, I cashed out at over $800 after about 12 hours of playing... So down for the weekend, but had a lot of fun.

In summary, 1/2 game is very very beatable in the long-run but I haven't played enough 3/5 (just 1 short session/table) to comment on that. I'd go back if the chance arises.

He was replying to my post about the PotO big entry fee tourney, not about your bar run event to clarify.

Anyone play enough at Potawatomi to know how many 1/2 nlhe tables are running usually from about 10pm Friday through 5am Saturday? I figure it's got to be booming at the beginning, when does it start dying down?

I'm moving to Madison from the east coast soon. Foxwoods at noon on a weekday is live enough to play constantly, I'm wondering what the player pool is like at a only 20 table card room and if it's live enough to make it worth it for the 90minute trip.

Really it's hard to say since today will be the first day of timed rake at $1/$2.

Before there would have been 5-7 tables at 10PM and those would slowly combine down to 1 full table or 2 shortish (6-8 each) tables by 5AM. Between midnight and 2AM is when a player gets up from your game and it's only people on the call-in list who aren't there yet.
