Even though Jerry Yang backed out, the 1020nl game went anyway on Sunday for about 7 hours. Myself and a few others want to try to play this game once a month or so. We've scheduled another 1020nl game for Sunday Feb 20 at noon. If you're interested there's a sign up list, call the poker room, 4148477605.

the casino has a coat check during busy hours, but most poker players just hang it on the back of their chair

Yeah I was at the next table over playing 1-1-2NL and some dealer said he was in town for family. Also, ex-Packer Leroy Butler was at the same table playing 5-10NL

Weeknight 3-5 NL? I live in Chicago and play mostly at the Horseshoe, but occasionally Potawatomi on weekends. Could come up there some weeknights, but only want to play 3-5 NL. Is one weeknight consistently more active than others? (e.g., it's busier Wednesdays at the Shoe). Thanks!

i can't compare it to the shoe. never played there on a wednesday. but i would think thursday nights are the busiest during the week at Poto. you'll still find 2-3 tables of 3/5 NL on mon, tue, wed though.

4 or 5 tables of 3/5 on fri/sat nights. and there will be plenty of action. if i had to pick one, i'd prolly say fridays nights are busier than saturdays.

6/12 has been going more often now. Weekends are almost a sure thing; last few weeks 6/12 games have been going Mondays Tuesdays and Thursdays. It IS hit and miss, so I usually call ahead. On weeknights, the 6/12 will probably break up around midnight.

No way are there enough players to fill a 6/12 and 4/8 at the same time. 1-1-2 NL is killing the room.

Yes, I drive up there some weekends, but I'm asking about weeknights (Mon-Thurs). Any nights when they have at least two 3-5 tables going? Thanks.

My buddy reported a very juicy 6/12 game last night. Random raising/capping, multi-way pots.

Whats best in northern indiana for similar LHE?

I play at POTO about once a month but never during the day, those are the people there to pay their bills. If you go late or on the weekends it's easy money, just slow play everything because everybody bets into you there. Nobody there likes to fold flush or straight draws either...they'll chase that sh*t like it's 50/50

I live closer to Horseshoe & play the 2/5 NL or 5/10 NL game, but it seems like the 5/10 NL game at Horseshoe you need the Nuts to win a HUGE pot. I was there today & saw 3 straight flush's over the course of 4 hours. (Granted 2 were in the same hand, but both pocket cards used -so sick) I actually lost with an Ace high flush to a straight flush.

3 tables of 3/5 last night (thursday,) a 4th opened at 8 or so and ran for about 3 hours.

6/12 LHE also ran strong from like 6 o'clock till past 1 am.

slow playing everything is bad advice if there going to chase everything then you bet bet bet and hope they dont catch also i think random overbets with the nuts work there quite well cause they always assume bluffs

you can't build a strat on a given room. each table and player is different. anyway, strat talk goes here:

full room last night at Poto

they're running a new NL game now. its' a 5-5 blind with a 300 min and a 1000 max. it's somewhat of a compromise since the 5-10 (500 min, 1500 max) doesn't run very often. there was one table last night with really good action. but they didn't call one name to that table in like 3 hours. the problem is that it attracts the 3/5 regulars with the deeper pockets, and those guys don't like to leave the table regardless of whether they are stuck or winning.

So, in summary, it's like every other table of regs at the Pot.

except they are now all at the same table and you can't game select to sit next to a fish

Anybody here sit at the 3/6 O8 game last night? I played at the Pot last night until about 12:45 AM. Money to be made in that game, for sure, as most of the time there were two LAGs at the table making it 3 bets or capping pre-flop. One so much as said that he wanted to build the pot to make it more like a 4/8 game, and I'm not sure he ever folded a hand pre. Some solid regs were showing signs of tilt at times with some of the bad play.

I was going to write a longer trip report about Potawatomi and the Cheap Trick show but I'm just too lazy.

Cliff Notes:
- Didn't get to play no-limit 3/5 or 5/10 because lists were 50 people long (what a ****ing joke) and these floors refused to start new games with open tables and dealers standing around. Boggles my mind.
- Settled on playing the first open seat and it was $3/6 limit lol. I won $200 over 2 sessions (before/after the concert).
- Food at the Fireplace Sports Bar/Grill was excellent; the wait for the table not so much.
- $3.75/beer imo was not that bad of a price considering it was a casino. I was expecting $5/min per beer.
- The show was excellent...we were 3rd row in the balcony. Small venue, great acoustics, great set.

Here are some pics:

PS. Dealers are extremely nitty at this place. If I'm not in a hand I should not be asked to standup to send a text message lol. And yea accidentally dropping an extra dollar over the betting line as I'm cutting chips to call a 3-bet does not constitute a re-raise. I will return to this place but will make the effort to call 2 hours prior obviously if I want to play the game I want to. The drop is also high. I guess it is the only option in town and has no competition so I can't necessarily fault them for their attitude.

surf,

It's not the dealers....casino rules. Dealers actually get written up if players use devices (incl iPods) while seated. Need to stand up & step back. Way back in the dark ages you couldn't even have a phone in the room...leave it in the car or check it like a coat (true story).

Calling in will help bigtime. And the list for 3-5NL moves pretty quickly on weekends even if it is long. Most times they have a must move game and 3-6 tables running.

They just bumped rake in the past year or so to $5 (was $4).

anybody who doesn't call ahead going in to potawatomi is just ignorant. i've never had to wait more than 15 min for a seat when calling in. and i hate the cell phone rule as much as anyone, but please don't blame the dealers for it. do you really think they care? obv they don't want to enforce the rule, but they like having a job.
