Looks like they've got a new item on the food menu:

If they don't watch out, they'll get the DEA after them like the Oaks and AJ's did a few years ago.

I thought it was just some of the players who were "rude and unreasonable". They must have designed that chicken dish for them.

To alienbogey (from locked B&M thread):

There's an Oaks thread in Mortar & Brick.

I would take a cab at night for multiple reasons - drivers are idiots, bike racks there are not good, and there are other options. I assume you're staying at/near Bay Street or Powell, which means the neighborhoods you'd be biking through are fine. I wouldn't bike eastward after dark.

Emery Go Round is a free shuttle. Download the app for shuttle times. Cabbing is probably the best option, all the major hotels have can stands.

During the day, biking is fine. I bike there sometimes in the summer. I lock my bike on the gate and take my helmet and seat with me.

Frankly, nobody will give a **** about your $300 buyin. There's a 30/60 LHE game where people regularly have 10x that on the table, and the pai gow side where people have 100x that on the table.

Don't misunderstand - you should be careful walking around with or without $300, Emeryville is an urban area, and there are sketchy looking people there - but you won't be the Big Man on Campus. Take all the precautions you'd take if you were walking around Union Square in San Francisco.

2-100 spread limit ("100 max") is what you'd probably want to play. 1/2 blinds, 2 to call, 40-200 buyin. There's a 200 max game as well where everything is basically doubled.

The food is fine. People like the Vietnamese menu. (I'm meh about it.) Some food is only served before 11 pm. Alcohol service stops at some point (2 am?).

PM me if you want to meet up.

Thanks for the redirect to the proper thread/forum.

Maybe I'll go for a bike ride in the morning and check the place out, then come back via shuttle or cab to play.

What time do the games get going on a Saturday, and how soon does the list for a seat get long?

OBTW, I wasn't trying to impress anyone with a $300 buy-in (LOL), I was merely trying to indicate the type of game I'm looking for.

Some games will run all night (usually 3/6 and 6/12, but sometimes 15/30, 30/60, 100 max, and 200 max). More tables start up in the late morning. There's a tournament Saturday morning so games really pick up as people bust out.

You will see that the Oaks is ... not in a wealthy neighborhood. Occasionally, people think they're mad ballin' because they have $300. I mistakenly thought you were one of those. I apologize for the confusion.

Have a great time!

The Oaks now offers wifi to its customers. I predict a boom in Words With Friends side action.

There is a bike rack in the parking lot. I've used it a few times during the day without a problem.

I also locked my bike to a signpost on San Pablo late at night when I was just going in for potstickers. Came out to a missing rear wheel. My fault, really. Don't drink and cycle.

Whoa, rookie move. Always need a cable long enough to go through both wheels, but if it's only long enough to go through the frame and rear wheel, you have to take the front wheel with you.

Well, I did ride my bike to the club, folded it up, walked in, and no one had a problem with it sitting next to my chair.

I played a while and came out modestly ahead, despite playing at what developed into an extremely tight table.

But, I was highly distracted by watching Stanford CRUSH Cal 63-13, which made it all worthwhile.

I don't even know where Petaluma is...is it really close enough to be competition for Oaks?

I thought there was basically a moratorium on new card rooms in California.

I kind of doubt it. Completely different clientele.

Google Maps route Oaks -> Graton about 50 miles north.

Indian Casino. Pretty sure the moratorium doesn't include those.

I think Graton is going to have a far bigger impact on Cache Creek's business than on the Oaks'.
