Well, in all honesty, I have yet to see or hear about that feature.... in a room with the volume we expect, Im not sure about the effectiveness. I will consider anything, provided it makes sense and is within our ability to operate per our gaming regulations.

West Coaster here (never even made it back East)..What do you guys think of Bowie as a place to live between Live and the Harbor ?

Im also thinking about just sticking with Alexandria Virginia and playing NH exclusively

Any plans for a "soft opening" ahead of the "Grand Opening"?

Is poker confirmed to be happening on day 1, or is the poker room potentially opening later than Dec 8?

I live in the Bowie area. Its easy to get to both casinos from here--20-25 miles to Live and around 15 miles to NH. The area is good/safe.

With the volume you expect wouldn't it be easier to take reservations online than over the phone?

It really depends on times you plan on playing traffic is the big if now if ur playing after 8pm and staying away from rush hour you should be good.

The pathetic attempts they're making won't help the traffic. Much hasn't really changed. The national harbor/MGM area practically sits by itself so comparing it to other parts of PG crime wise doesn't really matter. No matter where you place the casino it may attract crime. You could place it in Tysons and criminals will make their way out there.

got an email from mgm that says MGM National Harbor Opens December 8.
it also says I can book a hotel stay from day 1 at mLife rates at mgmnationalharbor.com

Johnny,
so since the flood gates have been opened, do you still have to wait till next week to answer all the questions posted in this thread?
10-03-2016 , 05:56 PM
Yes. I still have to wait. As I said before, I will begin addressing those question early next week. I will use the FAQ template on the first page of this post.

Easier, yes. More effective, debatable. Online lists have problems all their own. No shows are my biggest concern, and that prevents us from quickly filling seats.

The entire casino is set to open December 8, including the poker room.

Perhaps a 2-minute deadline for each person called to come to the podium?

I do see your point - easy to sign up online means more no-shows, duplicate entries, and trolls (ugh testers). Probably best to limit to phone calls and in person sign ups the first few days.
10-03-2016 , 06:23 PM
If the online sign ups need to check in at that podium how will no shows negatively affect filling seats? Can the system automatically remove online sign ups that haven't checked in after the maximum time limit has passed?

Its 2016. App/online based signup > calling on the phone. 100x easier for your players.

I've done my share of criticizing MDL decisions in the last 12-18 months. This is among their best ones.

Just out of curiosity why do you think people who signup online are any more/less likely to no-show than people who call?
