Hopefully the supervisors will religiously check the Bravo system for seats. That is faster than walking around the floor. updated bravo systems, and people standing in one place will get people seated the fastest.

now, the bravo system should separately list the open seats in a busy room, an easy fix for the IT guys at genesis.

For perspective, I am in my fourties and no-one mistakes me for the <21 crowd that get carded to make sure they are old enough to play...
You need an ID to get into the casino. Each time I've gone, they have checked the IDs of 100% of the people entering the building. It is not a spot check- it appears to be their process as you enter the facility.

As for those who want to make a transition from 2/5 NL to PLO this game is a good start not too deep and table normally raise to 10 or 15 almost everybody called. There are a few at my table who played with the holdem mentality and thinking their 1 pair of aces was good and never give up ended up re-buying the max ($500) at least 3x.

Our table was never full all day and there were 3 empty seats for 2 hrs go unfilled from 4 to 6 PM and the annoucement was way too loud and they also open a new 2/2 PLO at table 50 not filling the empty seats in our table. Go figure.

They serve u the smallest bottle of water, no restroom upstairs and no cage. The room is very nice but beverage service is super slow took 1 hr to get a cup of coffee. Also lots of Ct regs playing here.

So 'a couple of players' get preferential treatment? How is that fair to other players that tried to register tonight and were turned away?

This sounds to me like the casino is giving an advantage in a game to some clients over others. Can you tell me where in the MD gaming regs this is allowed?

Played yesterday for 6hrs, from about 10:40pm till about 5am.

Long line and wait as expected, I only play 1/2nl, but after waiting over a hour in line and seeing 70 people on the list, I also signed up for 2/5 which got called first, and ended up being my first shot ever at 2/5nl. While I did not come out ahead I also did not bust out after 6 hrs, only down a little so not too bad. If my bankroll would allow, I would feel totally fine with playing at this level again here with this crowd. A few completely insane manic players, which made it fun.

We went from having a waitress around every 15 mins or so to almost 2 hours without a waitress, had to tell 2 supervisors, 3 requests total along with others asking.

$2 chips did not bother me too much, but when you look at them from the side, I could see why it might be hard to tell what they are because the inlays have 3 equal amounts, when I would think it should be mostly blue. I'm not a chip expert though.

Some real crazy things happened at my table.

One really unusual thing was a real sketchy guy walks up to our table and starts telling some really young drunk guy in hat that he owes him money. He was dropping lots of F bombs and I thought a fight was going to break out. Well then he reaches down and takes about $200 worth of chips out of drunk guys stack. I don't think drunk guy wanted this to happen of course, but may have actually owed him money inside or outside of the casino (sounded like it may have be personal)???

I was puzzled because the dealer told drunk guy to he had to leave the game because chips were removed. (security should have been called on chip taking guy?? right?) Then manager comes over and also says he has to leave. But thug guy is standing there with drunk guys chips in hand still cussing about drunk guy and how he owes him money to the manager. Manager says he did not want to get involved in personal matter??? WTF?

Even if drunk guy owes thug guy money (personal money, poker chips), can thug guy walk over to his table and take chips, and drunk guy has to leave??? I'm really confused here.

Another guy was overpaid $800 in chips when he left to go to the cage and went to another to cash them out. Then he came back to the table. They (house) took him away for a while and got the money back.

I'll take a little craziness and a lot of action over a dead room with no players any day.

You actually get comp points here, great what a concept, other unnamed rooms should take note.

I had fun overall... I really try to block out the little things, and focus on the game.

I think everyone there is just overwhelmed at this point, it's an unbelievable turnout and beginning, in a month it will be so smooth and hopefully the action will be just as good. A little less thug action would be OK with me as well.

Mr. Smith,
I'm not sure if this is true or not or if you want to answer yet. but.. I was told but one of the blackjack pit bosses that you guys are already talking about adding another 20 poker tables.

Is that true, if so wow?

Nice job!

Conspiracy buffs: If we grant you that Lee Harvey Oswald didn't act alone, and that there are ET aliens among us, in return, will you give Mike a break? He has no incentive to play favorites, or to rig the Bravo to make the room appear more crowded/less crowded. He's got his hands full!

Essentially, Mike and staff are hosting a 24/7 party for 520 strangers that come and go at will, trying to keep everybody happy, in a place that not only never held a party before, but didn't even exist before Wed. And if your biggest complaint is that the TVs are set to a lousy channel, well, then I think he's doing a pretty good job after four days.

Prediction: by mid-Sept this room will be humming like a well-tuned Porsche. Keep the suggestions coming, but conspiracy accusations are wide of the mark.

The key is not to let the action continue until you get the ruling from the shift supervisor. In many places, once the next hand begins they will not go back and correct an error (MD Live showing they are a cut above here).
I think they actually used the "prorated" drop that they are collecting from the timed games.

Sounds like a personal matter (and like the guy knew he owed the other guy money). if the guy wanted/asked for security to detain the person taking the chips or the police called to file a report for the theft than i'm sure they would accommodate.. but it doesn't sound like the guy wanted/asked for them to pursue that course of action.. as is I'd say the floor did what they needed to do.. a player removed chips so he needs to rack up or buy back to where his stack was to continue to play.

Hey all,

First post and happy to have poker in the great state of md.

Mike, great job so far. Things are crazy but you guys have done a good job of managing the lines and waitlists.

A few things, not to be negative:

Get more waitresses. It took me an hour just to see one earlier this evening.
Also, I get the whole tv thing and not changing channels every 2 minutes but there is really no reason there have to be 3 tv's in a row showing mdl ads constantly all night long. If you want conspiracy theorists, this is how to get them, because once in the poker room, players don't have to be bombarded with ads.

There is room for a temporary registration table, this has been brought up before. Please think about it.

As a side note, do you guys have space for a large tourney (if it ever happens) outside of the poker room?

I don't know what the law is for Maryland so I can't verify or deny this. But on a similar note, this summer I was playing at Caesar's Palace in Las Vegas, and a poker player, clearly in his 70s or 80s, was escorted out of the casino because he did not have his ID (He wanted to be swiped in but didn't have his player's card and the cage needed it for making him a replacement card. That's how they found out he didn't have an ID on him). The floor's argument was that it was a requirement by Caesar's Entertainment that any player on their property must have an ID with him.

Mike,

I thought you should know about this issue I had at the 2/2 PLO game Saturday night. I was sitting at table 52. I told the supervisor Chris about the situation. I started playing around 10:30pm, everything seemed normal up until about midnight. Then these three guys all took a seat. Immediately they start swapping chips with each other so I figure they knew each other, no biggie. Then From the time they sat down one guy would always bet the pot every single hand. At first I thought okay maybe he is getting cards or maybe he is just looking to bully the table. On about the 8th hand of him doing this I started to notice that every time he is in a hand, one of his friends was in a hand also. It didn't take long for one of the regulars to get up and leave. I stayed and was just playing super tight. They kept winning pot after pot and I would say within 30 minutes of sitting they had easily won 90% of the hands. If you look at the video you can easily see the guy in the 4 seat with with white t-shirt and tattoos potting every single hand and having one of his friends in the pot also. I realize this happens and there probably isn't much that can be done considering most of the hands can be explainable from one point of view. I just want you and the poker community to know that if you are playing at the 2/2 PLO game there is only one table running and it is very easy for friends/partners to be sitting together working. I hope this reaches some of you as I was completely unaware at how easy it is for guys to work together.

Some of the key things to look for:
One specific guy betting or potting every single hand, trying to get as much money into the pot
Same two or three guys in almost every hand or playing hands together
Suspicious activity that just seems odd and out of place

If something feels wrong, trust your instincts get up and change tables, dont try to be the hero and play back, gl

Stud games are 8-max, right? Is that playing out normally, or are ten players being crammed at stud/HORSE tables, or what?

Also, just throwing this out there, is anybody interested in getting a lowball draw game going sometime?

I played the 6/12 HORSE game for awhile and we were 8-max.

It's my understanding that the only kind of draw they can do right now is A-5. I would be willing to play that but I wish they would hurry up and get 2-7 approved as that would be my preference.

Mike,

Can u pls clarify running it twice on the 2/2 PLO? When I was playing yesterday during the early session we were allowed to run it twice in a big pot. However, during the evening session, the dealer called the floor for permission and the floor said since it's not time raked we can't run it twice.

Also, dealer chip rack should be fully stack because there were 2 guys at my table playing with no chips and it took forever for the chip runner to refill their re-buys. One guy ended up owing me money verbally because he has no chips to play and also when they changed the dealer, I have to remind the new dealer who owes me what. Just way too much to keep track.

on opening day, I've been been told by floor persons that running it twice is in time raked games only.

hm.. thought you're not allowed to play w/o chips physically in front of you?

someone at my table topped off to the max and put a $100 bill in front of him while waiting for the chip runner. dealer allowed it.

went thru a dealer change and chip runner never came. then I left. guy still had the $100 bill in his stack.

so I guess cash plays?? Mike?

Well, It happened yesterday with dealer didn't have enough chips and two players with no chips either. So we have to keep track what these two guys playing behind and you also have to keep track what they owe u when they lost. Just keeping track of the game of PLO gives u a headache already especially when I sat in the same seat for 14 hrs and now I also have to keep track of players that owed me money?

Mike, lets allow cash play so we can get the game moving.

It's easier for the table chip leader to just slide $100 chips to player and then they can wait for chip runner to show up which hasn't been that long in my experience at MDLive. Filling seats was a problem but room seems to have a handle on that, sometime during Sat they started having people waiting to play wait outside poker room instead if lurking around room and sitting at tables on their own.
