Can someone comment on the City of Dream poker room? I've been to Macau many times, but never played there. Since this time i'm staying at the new Galaxy resort for a few days - i figure i might as well give it a shot.

room at hotel lisboa got upgraded for free, though only with two twin beds.. king wasn't available yet

room is gorgeous, though a bit more old fashioned. free minibar/internet, and the shower/tub is super nice. also the walk from my room to the grand lisboa poker room is no more than 5-7 minutes

the 10/25 at grand lisboa wasn't as juicy as i expected, but still a good game. very weak passive game

Waste of time IMO. Chances are, there are no games running. Hot waitresses: yes. Poker: no game. Things might be different on weekends perhaps.

Since you are already in Taipa, Venetian have games for sure.

Also give a report on Galaxy. I was there last week and see that the place still needs alot of work, cant imagine the whole place is complete but still curious how the resort is, especially the man made beach and pool.

Yes, I've heard that the rooms are decent there. Nice that the minibar & internet is free. I had to pay a stupid amount last time for an internet card.

10/25 is GL is certainly not that juicy, you must grind long hours there as most are tight regfish that bleed slowly. There are also tons of annoying short stackers there. Grinding 10/25 might not make it profitable for you as your Lisboa Hotel rate is not cheap.

Games are better at V, and might more sense playing the 25/50 there to overcome your accommodation expenses.

I'm going to V next time for poker. I checked out the poker room and it is in some really out-of-the-way place, does it manage to attract enough fish?

Room's kind of slow, but when there are games going they are normally halfway decent. I just like the free booze, Was able to order shots of tequila for the whole table, and getting all the vodka redbulls I want

Heard from a friend the Ven banned a group of regs for kicking each other under the table. Thumbs up to the staff.

Just wondering... if these regs are banned from V, do you think V's staff informs other poker rooms or will these regs just change the room they play?

about fkn time, I always avoided this room due to my suspicion of collusion and soft playing.

This is silly. Unless the Ven has changed a lot in recent months, they run possibly the softest games on the planet. They softplay everybody, and if "regs" were kicking under the table, it was probably because they thought it was funny and hardly knew any better. Just start raising and 3-betting every hand and make them play real pots.

I think you guys are a little out of touch with reality. If you want to grind small games and actually come out ahead you have to get an apartment. The hotels are simply too expensive in Macau to turn a profit in anything smaller than 100-200. You would have to win at the pace of 100K USD a year playing 10-25 just to cover the hotel expenses and if that were possible you wouldnt have so many poker players living here that just grind online every day.

Obv and makes sense if you were to stay long term. What do you suggest for shorter visits to Macau, say 10-20 days?

To lease an apartment, you're locked in for months even for a year at some agents.

Please suggest a place if possible as I will go back in a couple months and will be staying in Macau for only 2 weeks. Getting an apartment is not an option or is it?

some hotels will give you deals for long term stays .. I have heard people paying 7000HKD a month at certain hotels .. I think it was metropark. ..

Your best bet is to rent a place from poker players who are leaving town. Search for Macau in the marketplace since 2+2 doesnt allow such posts in this thread.

I'll be in Macau for 2 days next month. Will probably play at Grand Lisboa thanks to the tip about generous comps there in this thread.

Since I don't really plan to spend much time in the room (will probably just use it to crash for 3-4 hours), what are the CHEAP room options in the area? I see Hotel Sintra and Hotel Beverly Plaza for around US$100/night. Anything cheaper?

btw, sodom mentioned that 1100 points was approximately 22 hours, but i got around 700 points for that much time at 10/25. that will get you about 700$ in bonus chips, which i got lucky and ran up to 2200 at bacarrat betting 200$ a bet on banker lol

You can spend some nights at a spa. These cost around HKD300-400/night. They come with free food and drinks.

The ATM I used had no daily limit I don't think. It's probably more dependent on your bank.

If you are bringing non-HKD cash then bring a major currency. Yen worked perfectly fine for me. Obviously dollars, euros, and pounds are going to be excellent choices as well.

You can make multiple withdrawals from the same ATM* up to the daily withdrawal limits set by your bank. (*If you run the machine out of money just try the one next to it. True story.)

As I recall I was one of the few people not wearing shorts at the poker table.

Would it be bad to sleep for 4-5 hours in the spa? I assume it's 24-hours? Any near Grand Lisboa that you recommend? Thanks...
