How can you guys sh*t on the vic in prior posts and then recommend it to a tourist?

4x £50 bullets in £1/1 game @ aspers imo. Though having said that I do tend to avoid central london like the plague.

Because slightly higher rake and having to pay £1 for soft drinks makes little difference if you're playing for one weekend.

Hello guys

was thinking of playing the £80 wptn bounty at Aspers on sunday

Did any of you play it last year
Have been told it was pretty soft and attracted a large field
Obviously it could be different this time round but any comments would be welcome

Many thanks and good luck at the tables

Hadn't played poker in a few years so headed to aspers stratford to play their Saturday £60 mtt. Soft field and run good helped me to 2nd place. It gave me the buzz for live poker again. Where can I play mtts that are <£50 buy in?

how can people **** on the vic?? all the dealers and staff are so nice and friendly, their 1-2 at 5% rake is one of the juiciest games in london(to be fair 1-2 at hippodrome is not bad either, but the staff at the vic are a lot nicer than those at the hippodrome), regular donkaments everyday.

£1 loyalty freeroll drop that mainly rewards nitregs and promo grinders would be the main reason I think.

I think you may be in an extreme minority there on 2+2. Even better is neither, which the Hippo has.

People **** on the Vic because:

1. No free drinks
2. Introduction of 25p chips to increase their rake take
3. £1 drop for the freeroll
4. No hourly comps for playing

Yeah the games can be good and there's more variety too, plus the dealers are nice.

It would be nice if they actually gave a little back to the players though. Who knew casinos are all about making money.

how often does plo get up at the vic/hippo?

PLO every day at the Vic, not too sure but think pretty rarely at Hippo.

Hippo has very spontaneous plo games. Vic defo runs the majority of the week

Played £1/£1 at Aspers last night. I've actually never played a softer game. I know £1/£1 isn't ideal because of rake but surely the win rate reduces dramatically at £1/2? What's a typical win rate for live £1/1 cash?

Yeah Aspers is ridiculously soft and I would argue that it is definitely beatable with the level of play that goes on. If you're unlucky then there's probably about 2 - 3 players a table that actually half know what they're doing.

Can confirm I vic has PLO. I lost money play £2/5+ every day of the week 😕

Ok the Vic isn't helping its image by introducing a 25p chip etc but something like that is hardly just cause to say how terrible it is.

I recently went to the Hippo for the first time and sat there waiting for like an hour for a seat before giving up. 7 or 8 tables up near the roof, the bar looked ****, etc. Got the tube over to the Vic and walking into the poker room, despite doing it many times before, felt awesome. 30+ tables, better decor imo and a better atmosphere. Not full of old nits either.

Perhaps there are better games elsewhere but nothing in London comes anywhere near the Vic for the overall experience.
