thanks

also, there are 2 grosvenor casinos, one in soho and one nearby, right? which one of those is the vic?
Hackney def not gunna be most optimal place to stay for casinos. No tube line which makes getting there really arduous and time consuming.

homeboy, maybe you missed the advent of this thing called the "overground"

Dalston Kingsland (Hackney) -> Stratford (Aspers Casino) 13mins
Dalston Central (Hackney) -> Stratford (Aspers Casino) 11mins
Homerton (Hackney) -> Stratford (Aspers Casino) 9mins
Hackney Wick -> Stratford (Aspers Casino) 5mins

granted, hackney is a ballache for casinos *in central*. but not all casinos.

if you want to go to the casinos in central, take a look at this night tube map linked below, and find a neighborhood that sounds good on the Black, Dark Blue, or Red lines. Bethnal Green has a similar vibe to Hackney and is on the Red (Central) line

It's not fantastic, but once the roadworks are complete, not bad at all IMO. If you need a view of current gentrification status, check out Model Market @ http://www.streetfeastlondon.com/where/model-market. That's round the back of the mall in the old market.

P.S. That's right, Lewisham has a 'high line'. Practically NYC down here.

Given your following post I'll assume you realised how doltish this one was. I go through Hackney on the overground every day I go to Uni. If you look up bus routes to get back to Hackney from Stratford late at night you'll find that even though it's pretty close you have to take a minimum of two buses and mostly 3.

this may sound crazy to a uni student but he *could* spring for an Uber home, its under a tenner to most parts of Hackney

or, if he wanted to play in central, the N38 goes from Cambridge Circus to Dalston Junction *and* Hackney Central. not arguing its optimal but you make Hackney sound like St Albans

I cashed in the £100 + £50 tonight.

After making a couple of colour bets on roulette, the pit boss came over and said it's not allowed any more - I could only bet on individual numbers.

So I went to the £10 Blackjack tables for the remaining bets.
I ended up with £140 cash once I had lost all the play chips - not bad.
I then played poker for a bit and ended a tiny bit up on that.

I think they are getting wise to what a good deal it is - the £100 deal was sold out on MyVegas earlier, plus the pit boss' instructions.
So maybe snap it up as soon as you see it.

anyone currently @ empire? Have any idea on how big the triple flop game is playing there or is it just £1/2?

Triple flop? What's that?! Three flops?! I'm confused.

Three boards, you have to win two out of the three boards in order to win the hand.

This game seems crazy to me, I've not seen it anywhere else.

What kind of edge does a good PLO player have? Is it just degen gambling?

One of the Vic regs is trying to get a game started at the Vic but is struggling for interest. Heard it is a good game and I think it's played £5/5. Haven't played it myself but from speaking to a few guys at the table this seems to be the case.

It used to be very popular at the International when the DC ran there. You can still find it in a lot of private games though.

There is a large edge to be had as a lot of players make really obviously bad mistakes but it's super high variance. The biggest problem is how long it takes to play a hand. Sometimes at the International, an 8 handed round of triple flop could take the best part of an hour. All in all, your hourly rate is not worth the variance.

Is triple flip always Omaha 8 ?

No I've never played it as o8. It's absolutely madness sometimes to work out who is getting which portion of the pot, making it a split pot game would be crazy.

Any 2+2 members from the US living in London? Looking to play some basketball. Hard to find any games here.

There're definitely basketball leagues in London. I know that PokerStars have a team in one. Not sure how they are for pickup games etc though.

Hey Guys i am moving down to North Kent in a week and am going to travel up to London to play live. The train station i will be going to is St Pancras/Kings cross so am looking to get memberships at The Empire and The Hippodrome as they are relativity close. Will be wanting to play £1/2 Cash games. Could people give me any answers to the best choice of the two? Which is the softest and the most games running? i imagine the casino are very busy during the weekend but what about through the week, do 1/2 cash games run during the week or an afternoon/evening as i want to put in as many hours as possible? Any answers would be appreciated. Ben

Cliff Notes:

Hippodrome
--Generally more tables
--No BBJ or Cash Race so less rake
--More of a night club atmosphere
--60p worth of points every hour (you can claim gaming chips)

Empire
--Generally more regs recording points for Cash Race
--60p worth of points every hour but no gaming chips
--More dumpy atmosphere (segregated from main casino but will have refurbishment ready in September)
--Can become "dead" during off-peak hours

-- Both have games runnning 24/7 but they can get down to just 1 or 2 tables by around 7 or 8 in the morning. You could also consider:

The Vic
--Terrible points system where you get zero rewards
--25p chips so you pay extra rake
--Charged for soft drinks, tea and coffee
--More reg-infested than The Empire
--BUT, a Cash-Race MTT "freeroll" at the end of the month with an effective buy-in of ~£500 (put in ~22 days per month for this though)

-------------------

As to the softest tables... they can crop up anywhere and at any time.

My personal opinion is Empire is a little softer, although I have no objective evidence to back that up. In terms of tables running:

Out of loop with poker generally.

How is the Palm Beach these days? They used to run a £1K (Big Game) monthly mtt which would only be a 1 dayer, the cash games were great when this was on - do they still run it or anything similar? I remember it moved to that dump Fox at one point - did it move back to PB after that closed? Are there any higher buyin turbo type mtts in any decent casinos in Central London like that?

Pretty hard to get a measure of the games at the Palm Beach unless you go there yourself, if they are good I can't imagine anyone raving about it on a forum
