A couple of the tables would be lucky if there was £700 on the table at certain points. All very frustrating when you are down £600 and cant see a way back. I played from about 6pm through to 11 in the morning.

I started on the one near the seating desk next to the lift.

Could just be it was one of them nights, I'll probably be down for a long session every couple of weeks. I did think it was an easier game than at the Vic based on my session there a couple of week ago.

Well, I was back in town all last week, but never made it out to play. Was travelling with my boss and it was better to work/hang with him. He is a good guy and I like his company, so it wasn't simply a career move. I did miss playing though. Next time in London I'll make it out for a few hands.

When I played there last month, stacks stayed @ £500 or lower with most being around £300. Many were @ £100

2, The Empire has a £20 rebuy every night at 6:30 (I think), not sure of anywhere else that has small stakes tourneys.

OT,
1, Every pub in the country will have that game shown, but theres a pretty cool sports cafe in Leicester square (about a 3 minute walk from the empire)

2, Oxford Steet/ Piccadily circus are pretty good for shopping.
Thanks for your answer. Regarding the tournament at the International, how early would you recommend arriving at the casino in order to make sure you get a seat in the tournament?

The International is not a casino, it is a card room. Most of the reg afternoon tourney players show up at about 1:55 so I'd get there at 1:30, then you don't have to que up at the desk to register and you have 30 minutes to chill out, get a drink, scope the place out etc.

good luck!

What's the buy-in cap for the Empire these days?

Sure the games are tougher at the Vic but one thing I do like about the place is that there is usually no shortage of money on the tables, even on a bad night.

200bb or 50% of the big stack at the table for 1/2 ... I believe it's the same for the other games.

The vic is a nicer room and has better dealers. The empire has eaiser games though as it is on L:eicester sq and gets more passing trade. I play regularly at the vic though as they have a 1/1 game and I like the atmosphere. Vic has a new 80quid rebuy on a Wednesday

I think at some of the higher stakes games at the Vic they have no cap.

What casino in London would people suggest for a weekend? Like Saturday through to Sunday. Play often online in a huge mix of games, does anywhere offer anything other than LHE/NLHE?

Also for around £200/£300 mark what is the best place to play for a first time live?

If only there was a thread available that listed all the cardrooms in London and you could read what people say are the good and bad things about them without having to repeat the same information again and again ....

Because, schedule's change, casino's change and people change their minds.

You won't find LHE. There is a mixed limit game in the Vic I'm not sure what games are in that mix but it's fairly high stakes. The Vic and International have pot limit omaha. The Empire runs it if there are people wanting to play it, but this is not normaly the case.

First time doing live,

went to the empire for the £20R yesterday - was just a crab shot after the rebuy period. Was pretty un-possible to make a really bad call when the average stack is always 4-5BB's (with the blinds going up). Ended up on a table with 3 iphone internet kids.

Did the vic in evening, good cash games running going on, as the APAT(?) was running/closing up.

Why didnt you just stay and play cash at the empire? And i resent the term iphone kid, i have an iphone but im not an internet kid....

What kind of stakes were they on? Wonder if they were the ones I saw.

Empire was buzzing today! Got there at 4pm and there were 4 tables running already with about 10 people on the list. Played for 7 hours and left -£100 after being +£300 twice after slipping below initial buy in. Anyway, that's besides the point. I've always been on the fence with The Empire but there was a really good vibe going on there today. I hope it stays like that.

Was @ The Vic yesterday; poker room as a whole seemed fairly quiet for a Saturday night, but there were 3 or 4 £1/£1 games going. Played ~4hrs, table was super soft, highlight being when 3 people got to showdown (in a £30 or so pot) with a six-high straight showing on the board. Two of the villains turn over random-random and both say "I play the board". Third guy studies the other two hands pretty intently, before mucking...
