[QUOTE=Pharo;27719144]Damn, had no idea I was supposed to tip the toilet guy or the coat guy at The Vic. Now I have to feel awkward when I still don't haha.

Don't worry, you'll be fine ... I wrote "mandatory" tip not mandatory.

Breaking news, I'm a sucker.

Looks like there will be a big overlay for the GLO at the International. The buy-in is $250+$25 and very unusually for this club they've whacked a guarantee on there of $50,000. That would mean they need 200 runners, but so far there are just 25 online registrations plus 40 from live satellites, the last of which is tonight.

Day 1a is at 2pm on Friday and Day 1b on Saturday. Day 2 is 2pm Sunday and Day 3 is 7.30pm on Monday.

This weekend there's also the Dusk Till Dawn Monte Carlo event and the Vic's £300, but I think because of the guarantee the International will be where the value is.

This Saturday there's a team tourney at the Fox. It'd be fun to play with some other 2p2ers but unfortunately I'm busy that day.

are they already organised team tournaments?

if so, they don't involve having two or more members of the same team play on the same table at any time, do they?

does anyone know what has the lowest casino games and cheap poker tournaments? when i say lowest i mean really low (going with some friends who have never been to a casino and like to gamble but don't want to lose much money. it's more for a experience for them)

There's only one contender at the moment for the best REALLY low buy-in tournament in London. "Freeroll Fridays" on the 29th and each following Friday at the International.

The buy-in is just £3, and there's a guaranteed prize pool of between $500 and $1000 depending on the number of runners.

Players start with 3,000 chips (plus an optional £2 for an extra 2,000 chips), with 25/50 blinds and a 15 minute clock.

You're paid out online, but you can cash straight out. The winner last time got $110 and there are 18 places paid.

That is probably to their liking What about for casino games like blackjack and roullete. They want to play blackjack but I can't find anywhere under £5 minimum bet (I'm guessing it is hard to find lower)

Sadly there are no casino games at the International, just fruit machines!

You could find $2 blackjack at the Slots-a-fun opposite the Riviera

Definitely worth the trip.

I believe it's £50, there are two prize pools, one of them for the teams.

Last night I decided to play their £40+5 tourney, great fun ... until I bubbled the final table with AQ < KQ that's it ...... 87 runners I think. Top prize about £1150.

Thinking of making it down to the Empire or the International this week for the first time Sun - Wed Evening from like 6pm-9pm...(Or Maybe in the afternoon on Sunday) hoping to play some cash 1/1 or 0.5/1 if its running....? which should I choose and why? Appreciate any advice. Also is it hard to get signed up to the international if you dont know anyone there? Cheers

Empire only has 1/2 afaik, not sure about the International. I'd recommend the Vic for 1/1 seeing as I've actually played there and you can be guaranteed 1/1 games will be running.

You will not find the 1/1 at the Vic being nitty no matter what time you go.

Hey,

I need to book accommodation for 5 twenty-something guys for next weekend who are coming from out of town for gambling, drinking, shopping & carrying-on. Where do you recommend?
London Quote

Do you mean what area of town, or specific venues? What's the budget?
London Quote
07-25-2011 , 04:43 AM
I think the area of town will be aiming for something near Oxford Street (shopping - we're coming from the Isle of Man) and Empire (poker).

In terms of budget, we have a degree of flexibility, but aiming for a total cost for 5 people of around £1k for two nights in total.

The only place I have first hand experience near Oxford Street would be the Churchill Hyatt. It's also attached a very good restaurant. Probably too pricey. Don't know what else to suggest besides Trip Advisor.

Would recommend checking out the Fox when you tire of the Empire's horrible atmosphere.

Whoops, I'm supposed to be boycotting the Empire, not patronising it. Got it confused.

So proximity to the Empire is no longer a positive

Proximity to The Fox or The Vic is the correct desired goal.

The Fox is half a mile from the Empire so pretty much the same anyway. Afraid I'm no use for hotels though Josem.
