I've been here a few times, but it was many years ago. I saw where it was shut down in early 2010. Has anyone been here lately? Is this place still a dump? How is the poker now and what kind of games do they offer?

Their website looks like it hasn't been updated in ages. We called to ask them about their current rake amount. We were passed around to 3 people and none of them knew what "the rake" is. "I'm sorry sir no one can help you with that".

Finally asked, "What percentage does the dealer pull out of the pot for the house per hand???"

"About $4 or $5".

It's a wonder this place is still even there.

live in Tallahassee, play at JCKC about 3 to 4 times a week. 2nd worse room in Florida, jasper being the 1st.

mainly $1/$2 no limit. will get $2/$5 on Friday and Saturday

open from noon to midnight Monday Thur Saturday. closed on Sunday

i have asked them to consider staying open till 1 or 2 on Friday and Saturday but they want. I have seen them close on Friday night with 7 or 8 tables
going

alot of the players in this area are now going to Ebro or Jacksonville

they do close at the end of December and open back up end of January

we have a new horse track/ poker room coming to Gretna Florida at the end of the year/first of next year. Gretna is about 20 miles west of Tallahassee off of I10. JCKC will die when this new place opens

I play there from time to time and the place is a dump. From JCKC it will be about another hour to this new place in Gretna?

The one time I played this place was my first trip to a room in North Florida since moving to Tallahassee. I'm used to skc in Sarasota having several tables going at once with only minimal wait time unless you're waiting for a specific table, obviously. When I went to jckc, I came with two friends visiting and they only had two tables running. Each table had a short stack of <50 dollars. Limp fold so it's not like we could wait for them to go busto to get a chance to sit down. We ended up getting a new table started when 4 more people showed up in one other group. It was pretty terrible, because you don't really want to take your friend's money when you travel together, right. It's not that you want to play soft, it's that we don't really want to be sitting at the same table, especially when we constitute half of the table. It gets even worse when one coolers the other. 2nd hand in one friend had AQ and another had QJ. action on a qjx flop with one of the other players involved. It got 3bet postfop and the turn was another queen and the turn. Stacks go in (50bb will do that) and QJ busts AQ friend. It was clear the other group didn't really want to play against each other either, so the table was pretty weird until about an hour in when a few people showed up and seats got traded up. If this place does have 7 or 8 tables going at a time, I look forward to going back to play at a more popular time.

Does anyone know if they have parking lot security? I can't remember if they do. SKC in Sarasota has so much so that they have valet parking too. I'm not some spoiled kid that thinks my ride best not be touched, but I do have a little moped I don't want stolen. hah.

On another note, WOW has anyone looked at their tournament structure? Fridays at 730pm.
http://www.jckcpokerroom.com/?go=tournstruct
Levels:
5-25-50
10-50-100
25-100-200
50-250-500
100-500-1000
200-1000-2000
500-2000-4000
1000-4000-8000

2000 chip starting stacks. 50 dollar buyin, no add on is mentioned. 9 player max tables, so 16M and 40bb. 15 minute levels. Doesn't sound safe. hah.

They usually have a cop show up, towards the end of the night. The cop is usually inside I have never seem one in the parking lot. Parking area is around back and it's not that big, I have never had a problem. I don't go there that often and only on Saturdays, but four tables is a good night. Never played the tourney. Since it closes by 12:00 AM and they don't start till 7:30 PM, I could imagine they use a structure that ends things quickly.

Thanks. The tournament info says after 3 hours 45 minutes it is ended regardless of players left and prizes are determined from there. I'm running through the tournament on DD Poker with 50 players of random strength to see just how fast it feels.

On the parking lot note, I'm a student at FSU so it's a good 30 mile trek down Mahan drive for me, which the scooter can definitely handle. I shouldn't have to worry about parking it there though? Obviously they can't start it without the key, but it is something someone with a big truck and an ******* mindset could probably steal for cheap chinese parts.

thats not even the worst part. talked to some of the dealers out there and im pretty sure the $50 tourney is really a 33+17 LOL but i think all rebuys and add ons go directly to the prize pool. ive played there a bunch but never played the tourney once

The new poker room in Gretna is about the same distance from me, so that's awesome. I guess I looked out in that the two rooms are about the 40 minutes, one in each direction.

Honestly man, if it's 33+17, that can't even be the worst part with this structure. It really sounds like super turbo in the first place, so you're already just scratching a lotto ticket hahah. On the 3rd level in the simulator, up 50% of my starting stack and I still only have less than 6m haha.

How is the room? I've read the reviews on here about it but I'd like to hear more. How many tables can they get running and what are good times to play?

As I said earlier, I've only been once so yeah.

This room is open now?

As for stealing you scooter, if someone wants it it's theirs. There are usually people standing outside smoking and they are looking over the parking lot so doubt you have anything to worry about.

and busto 29/50. I was in 9th place at the time with 4 big blinds. I don't want to play this anymore.

OH ALSO: Is the 1-2 100min/max?

I meant to post that the press review I read (from January) states it should be open in Winter of 2011, sorry. I guess I'll try to call ahead and see if I could leave it locked up at the tires to that giant stair case thing. I want to be able to play their regularly, but if I can't play the games running on Friday and Saturday nights because someone might steal it, I don't think I can play there at all.

You could probably lock it to the fence that goes around the dog track as well. They run 1/2 NL $60min/$200max, and usually have a table of 2/5NL $500/max not sure what the min buy in for that is.

Thanks. My biggest concern with playing, aside from the scooter, was that 50bb was the max buy-in. Thanks for the update

Well the 50bb max buy-in was FL law up until a year ago. That was the same no matter where you went, in FL.

Oh well yeah I knew about that and the change, but it sounded like their 1-2 game was stuck at 50bb. I actually know of a few games that were maxed at random buyins, even since the law change. For instance, the 1-1 game at Derby Lane is 80max.

as i said above, I play here 3 to 4 times a week. Friday and Saturday is the best days, Friday night is the best. Thursday is a OK night, I went tonight and there was 3 tables, one $2/$5 table.

if you can get there at noon when the first table starts up do so. some soft fish come in at noon Monday - Friday. it will be a $1/$2 but it will play like a $2/$5. you will need to be there at 11 to get on the first table. a second table usually starts up about 2
