which is incorrect.

Talked to a floor manager downstairs yesterday. He said that they are spinning off the poker room (so there will be poker only dealers) on 3/21. Pretty sure this will be the start of everyone keeping their own tips too, so that's a good thing.

I've just been hearing rumors about this a lot, and was good to hear something from someone who doesn't work in the poker room at all.

She mentioned something about working to gain gaming commission approval which pushed it back a bit.

Funny but Horseshoe Cleveland is the only room ive ever seen publish this number. If i had to guess some places have double the amount in reserve (Horseshoe Cinci, Horseshoe Hammond) because they are both going to spend 300k plus on their tournament series.

If you want to have a big big promo you cannot spend any money for a few months or longer.

And the reason there is 310k or whatever is because they had zero promos in the place for about 9 months when they did not have a manager. Last 6 months they have spent some down and now they about spend what they take in. The number in the fund peaked right before Christmas and they close to 550k in the fund before the Christmas promo.

I think lookiing at the number on a daily basis is stupid also because you have know idea how they do their accounting and stuff.

They have a lot of procedures in place in terms of collecting the money and oversite from the state so its not like anything funny is going on with the collection.

meant fund peaked before they had the 150k bad beat and the freeroll last may. fund probably peaked at 800 or 900k because there were no promos for awhile. i think the 300k figure is not as large as sounds when you consider how much a big promo costs. its smart business to save some of the money for times when business slows down (definitely before christmas and maybe a bit in summer when the weather starts getting warmer.) some random dude trying to figure out the promo budget based on looking at the figure every day is kind of dumb when they seem to have made some strides figuring out what to do with it.

Had to get chips at the downstairs cashier this morning just after 5am. If they are going to let Diamonds line jump they should really have two cashiers working. Especially since the cash out machines for the slot machine players were all down. Got a seat just after 5am and finally got dealt in at about 5:30. 20 mins? Steady stream of line jumpers. Problem is that in order to get Diamond as a poker player you have to literally play 900 hours. Won't have that in until maybe October.

That means we'll have to have our vote with tips. I'm a gracious tipper in just about anything and I've tipped well so far but there are a couple that I will just refuse come March 21, and I've heard other players say "She'll never get a tip from me again."

Sucks and it makes me feel icky but man there are a couple doozies.

Here's a hint: Don't get defensive about sucking by being a domineering rule nazi. Don't make me post a small blind as a penalty to pay for me getting up to take a piss when I come back and happen to be the big blind. Don't stare at me while I'm making notes on my phone to go over a hand later and say "I'm not dealing until you put that down." I will put it down when you start dealing and pick it up after I fold, thanks. Don't mark me as away in Bravo the second ass separates from seat if I want to stretch for some comfort while the rest of the hand I folded plays out then make me ask you to put me back in. Don't tell players that their markers don't play. Don't refuse to cash someone 40 freaking bucks on a busy night when the chip runners are all busy and you say "I am not allowed to do that." BS - that $40 guy sucks I want him in the hand. Try to stop mucking the winning hand because a paired board confuses you. And learn how to determine a winning hand without staring at it blankly until the players tell you who won the pot.

Figure out any one of those.. take your pick.. and you'll be back on your journey to tipland.

Saw on bravo they are offering lower rake for mixed games as a incentive to get them going I assume. I think it's really good for the room if regular mixed games could get off, but rake isn't going to attract new players. They really need to do some kind of free roll to attract new players. Yes most will go back to mama in NL 1-2 land, but a few will become more comfortable and jump at the chance when a game is called.

Nice job Kegs. I agree 100% and have every one of these examples too. Most dealers will slide but I know 2 that are real rule nazi's. I won't name names, but 1 guy and 1 gal. The gal is always hungover and admits it...laziest dealer in the house. Next time she deals, I am on a 30 minute break...just brutal. Reminds me of Vegas Vacation....but its not funny when its your $$. I was hoping K would get her in line...but I think she is worse since she came. There are a couple others that make up for these 2, but there really is no excuse. Hope the cream rises and the lack of $$ to the rule nazi's helps. It has to.

Anyone want to try to start a regular $3/$6 horse game? I'll buy the first round. I used to play regular mixed games with a group of mostly dealers in Vegas. It was always a great time.

Edit to mention $4 rake on all mixed games.

Last edited by duecesful; 02-25-2014 at 08:25 PM. Reason: $4 rake

What would the mix consist of?

I just saw this on bravo. I haven't played horse since it ran at the imperial palace a couple years ago. What night are you thinking? I live about an hour away but would be interested in playing a couple times a month.

I think horse would be easiest to attract players. I know they won't allow any draw games as we tried a 10/20 mix once and they didn't have it approved by the state. I'm open to any games they'll spread though.

Get the HORSE game going. They have it weekly in Columbus. I think Cleveland has a good pool of players to get it going.

Speaking as a casual player with many priorities above poker these days, a mixed game would be something that might actually get me up there more regularly.

Bravo says 2 1-2-5 PLO games and 1 1-2 PLO. I didn't know they did 1-2 still.

I don't think 1-2 is spread anymore its probably just listed wrong. I've seen it before like that and it was the 1-2-5 listed wrong.

Agree with this. Especially because I lasted longer than pretty much all of them.

There's tons of silly/contradicting rulings there all the time though. Gotta just get used to it.
