The bridge is I-64. I came from Knoxville. Had to take I-65 to I-265 to I-64E. Traffic was ridiculous on Thursday going there (hit louisville at around 4PM and it took me over an hour to get from there to the casino). It was almost as long coming back on Friday leaving the casino at around 2:45PM. Normally takes me just over 4 hours to get there and back. Took me 5 1/2 to get there and 5 to get back.

Ugh, that really sucks.

Might be easier for me to take US 50.

NO, You are not if you are arriving in the near future. If you can, try to avoid rush hour.

When you get on the bridge I-65, merge over one lane and continue through downtown New Albany on spring street, go left at the Holiday Inn Express, then right on Main.

I would suggest avoiding rush hour by 2 or 3 hours on both sides of five. As people will be wanting to avoid rush hour early and obv back ups extend rush hour.

Yeah, that was my question, if it was that bridge or somewhere else. I think I'll probably just go US 50 if I can make it there.

We will soon find out. Thinking the impact will be minimal on the regular events. WSOP is here only once a year, so few seroius players will be deterred by an extra hour on the trip. More casual players might decide the inconvenience isn't worth it. The weekday 7:00 events may very well see the most noticeable impact since the increased travel time and hassle factor will be much greater than at the noon events.

FWIW, from a local paper today...
NEW ALBANY — Another set of federal, state and local officials took to the Sherman Minton Bridge on Wednesday to get a look at the Interstate 64 span that has been closed since Sept. 9.

Sen. Dan Coats, R-Ind., said the inspection process that is taking place — following the discovery of a critical crack on a load-bearing support on the bridge — should be complete early next week. And following a briefing with Indiana transportation officials on the bridge that connects New Albany with Louisville, he added that the bridge may be opened sooner than expected.

“I’m encouraged, [I] just have a sense, it won’t take as long as we thought initially in order to get this repaired and back up and running,” Coats said.

How soon the bridge could be reopened remains unknown.

Kathy Eaton-McKalip, Seymour district deputy commissioner for Indiana Department of Education, said the inspection process, which was expected to take three weeks, has been delayed slightly by inclement weather. She reiterated that the inspection and plan to repair the bridge is due early next week.

Eaton-McKalip said to her knowledge there have been no other cracks found during the inspection process like the one that shut down the bridge.

Last week, Gary Panariello, senior principal with Thornton Tomasetti — which is serving as the lead adviser on the Sherman Minton Bridge project — said the company had found some less significant cracks on the bridge and various imperfections in the welds of the bridge. Those would not have been critical enough to close the bridge.

Officials have said that the 2 1/2 inch crack that dated back to the bridge's construction and caused the closure of the span has already been repaired. Coats also pledged that state and federal officials are working together to get the bridge reopened as quickly as possible.

Does the bridge closing affect the traffic coming from the north? Can a person still go I65 to I64 and get off on the exit right before the bridge if coming from the north?

The lanes have been changed to accomodate the diffrent traffic flow but I am sure the New Albany exit is open.

They were pretty busy last night.

No to the 1st question, other than maybe a bit more traffic on 265. Yes to the 2d. I went yesterday and will be going again tomorrow. However, the signs are confusing. Disregard the CLOSED signs on the normal interstate signs. There is an electronic billboard stating that the exit is open and a little red sign right at the break between towards L'ville and St. L, that says it is open. And it is indeed open.

I get an offer of a free room every month - and I've only played a wsop-c event and maybe 15 hours of cash there.

Check out your TR account online - should be offers in there.

HSI's comps are 2nd to none in this area imo.

Just play slots or table games for a short time, and play a little poker and you should get a free room offer monthly.

Anyone notice what cash games are starting to run as we come closer to the Main, excluding the 1/2NL and small FL games?

I know 10-20 O/8 went at least once when I was there and 1-2 & 2-5 PLO are running fairly strong. Not that anyone cares but $3-6 limit holdem has been very weak.

Wife and I are taking a mini vaca this week and giving horseshoe a try. We've never been. I play regularly at Hollywood, IN. We will be there thurs and fri night.

How many 1-2NL should I expect? What is the rake here? Time?

Also, are there two tournaments daily like Hollywood?

Thanks in advance for the info. Being my first trip, I'd like to know what to expect.

We typically spread between 8-12 $1-$2 NL games on Thursday and a few more on Fridays.
We rake 10% of the pot up to a maximum of $5 per pot.
We offer a Noon Tournament on Thursday ($50 Buy In) and a Midnight Tournament on Friday night ($60 Buy In). Please let us know how your trip goes. It is always great feedback to hear from players visiting for the first time. Thanks
