I read mention of a mixed 1/2 PLO & NLHE game...how often has that game been running? Min/max buy-in?

The hot dog cart was just a suggestion for some quick food on the main floor and I know you can’t control the whole casino. The hot dog cart idea came to me after seeing the coffee carts around the casino floor. You said there would be a meeting and would mention the food issue and thank you for that. There surely should be some space available for a small snack bar on the first floor.

About seeing a hot dog cart in a nicer casino - I consider the Orleans in Las Vegas to be a very nice casino and they do have a hot dog cart daily right outside the sports book. It is not intrusive and doesn’t take away from the casino.

you should also get some cotton candy & cracker jack vendors while you're at it.

I think it's so cute that Jeremy and Rocco Terrier consider the Shoe a "nicer casino," that is too good to have a hot dog cart. If they ever decide to go out fine-dining together, I'm guessin' they choose IHOP.

Do you really want a ****ing hotdog cart being rolled around the casino floor? Really? Really?

Cotton candy and cracker jack sound good. Little sticky though. Hard to handle the cards! How about regular popcorn and cake. The popcorn doesn’t have to be buttered and the cake can be eaten with a fork!!

In other words, I can get as just as ridiculous with my comments too!

Not sure what prompted the snottiness directed at me. I think the casino is very nice and I think that the food options are inadequate. If you disagree, why can't you just say so without taking a shot at me.

For what it is worth, I live in Chicago and have eaten at most of the nicest restaurants. I am not a snob, but I do think a hot dog cart is not appropriate for a place like the Horseshoe. I am curious as to why you chose to mock me instead of just stating your opinion.

I have only been to the shoe once but played in the 10-20 LHE. Wow! as an internet 6max 5-10/10-20 player I must say I am always shocked to come into these games.

In 8 hours I sat in the game I only had a few hands that I had to invest significant thought.

Bone headed donk betting, cold calling raises, chasing overcard draws-any time a casino offers a higher middle limit LHE game it almost always makes the lower games good-and the 10-20 at the Shoe is classic- the key is adjusting to the texture of the game-for example say every flop is three handed+, you just have to force yourself into a fit or fold mode-some of these people seemed to be misapplying the ace high calldown as if they were in an aggressive online 6-max game.

Yes, Yes, Yes! With the quality of non-buffet options available there, I'd be happy with a turd card rolling around the casino floor. Some improvement is better than none.

My my, aren't we sensitive when the shoe is on the other foot. Weren't you mocking Sunglasses13 when you highlighted his statement about the Orleans being a "nicer casino" and commented "nuff said.?" Lighten up man; if you can't take it, don't dish it out.

I know it's almost sacreligious in these parts to say one negative word about the Shoe, but IMO, it is NOT in the "nicer casino" category, and I think it is a perfectly "appropriate" place to have a hot dog cart. I'm not saying it should be rolled around the casino floor by an organ grinder with a monkey, but it could easily be tucked away in an available corner somewhere, much like Resort's hot dog stand had it's own little nook on the third floor, and boy, were those hot dogs delicious!

You're entitled to my opinion, and so am I. It's my opinion that no casino with such a pitiful array of food options can ever be considered one of the "nicer casinos." Some players bring a lunch or leave the premises to eat! Is that one of the earmarks of a "nicer" casino?

"Nuff said" was simply expressing disagreement with the idea that the Orleans was in the same class as the Horseshoe. (And the same can be said about your attempt to equate the Horseshoe with Resorts) I said nothing about Sunglasses or his taste. (For the record, I too like hot dogs.) I am not supersensitive. I am just not a big fan of people who hide behind the Internet to say snotty things about people. That's your M.O. You want to mock me...mock me to my face. If you don't know who I am, ask for me at the Horseshoe.

The hotdog cart is ridiculous enough. There's surely a better option that Jeremy and the staff can come up with.

And I've waited a long time to say this while reading this thread...Dude, enough with the freakin smilies and pictures of smilies eating popcorn. People can read. You don't need to make an illustration after every sentence you type.

Oh really; an "expression of disagreement?" And here little old cynical me thought you were trying to make Sunglasses13 sound like a rube because he equated Orleans with the Horseshoe. I am soooooo sorry! And even if you were mocking him, as is still my first guess? SO WHAT! Maybe he wants to take it personal too, so ask for Sunglasses at the Horseshoe and mock him to his face. Rah, Rah, Sis-Boom-Ba! Go Notre Dame! (what comes next, and belch and a fart, I forget)?

Another thing: I do definitely equate both the Orleans and Resorts with the Shoe. Am I not allowed to do so? I've been to all three, and outside of the Shoe having a more attractive poker room than the other two, I don't see much difference, except that Orleans and Resorts have humane food options. A good-looking blonde with an IQ of 12 is attractive too, but if all she's got is looks, she ain't all that "fine."

l've already stated a few reasons for why I don't consider the Shoe a "nicer" casino, and I could make a long list of them if I had to. You can fall to your knees at the entrance and sing all the praises you want. Just don't ask me to join you.

You might not be "supersensitive," but you're doing a good job of soulding like it on this thread. The IHOP thing was a joke pal; try to get over it. Take a pill, my friend. Join a yoga class, switch to decaf, or better yet, enlist in the military. They can use a few good fighting men.

P.S. Before the marines ship you off, we MUST have a hot dog together because I love them too. I'll buy! We'll meet at the Shoe and then take a quick ride down to Resorts for the dogs. Stay safe.

I went to the Majestic Star for the first time this weekend to play in a tournament and I am not going back. The place is a dump and the staff was downright rude. The Horseshoe poker room staff are very nice and pleasant and most of the dealers greet me by name. I remain very very happy that we have a room of this quality in the Chicago area.
Majestic Star has two boats. The one without the poker room isn’t too bad. The one with the poker room is a dump but the poker room is OK! It is the only reason I would ever go to Majestic at all. True that it doesn’t compare to the Horseshoe's room for ambiance. But I totally do not agree that they are rude. I have always been treated well there by the staff. Dominic and Nick run the room quite well. Don’t know what you encountered there, but it doesn’t sound like the poker room I know and knew.

Again, I wasn't suggesting Sunglasses was a rube, I was simply disagreeing with his comparison. I have also never suggested that people can't criticize aspects of either the Horseshoe poker room or casino -- there are things that I don't like about them. When I ask why you decide to mock me, you simply mock me more. I have shown you respect and courtesy and you return with sarcasm. Your manner on this board is similar to your manner at the table...

Seems like you and I like different things. I don't like the poker room at the Majestic Star at all. I also don't agree with your assessment of how the room is run. Had an incredibly unpleasant experience this past week. But, enjoy....

I am trying to set up my work schedule to play in the tournaments with the highest prizepools on weekdays. I think mondays at the star are the best any other tournies during the week pay more than 3 or 4 g for 1st?

Jeremy: Speaking of poocorn and cake (and I know this is not your department, but surely you hear things we don't), is the Shoe going to do anything about this sad, sad food situation, any time soon? How can anyone entertain the thought that the Shoe is a first-rate casino, with such pitiful choices outside of the buffet or steakhouse?

Even the best poker rooms in Vegas comp their players enough to eat some decent food each day. The last time I visited Vegas, I got a $20 comp from the Wynn poker room each day that I played there, for four or five hours play (if any of you readers didn't get one, you didn't ask). Venetian's poker room was paying something like $3.50 an hour toward food comps.

Compare that with the $1 an hour we get at the Shoe (If you want to compare the Shoe with "nicer" casinos, then let's compare everything). We who play regularly at the Shoe, have to play almost 3 full days to cover the cost of the buffet. That almost sounds like a joke when you repeat it a few times. Eight hours of play doesn't even cover some of the dog chow they serve at Benny's and JB's. And worst of all, we can't even BUY decent food anywhere in the Shoe, unless we want to spring for the buffet or steakhouse.

This is a truly pathetic situation. I love playing in the poker room, but I can tell you for fact that the food available there, has driven me to other places to play on more than one occasion. Non-poker playing friends of mine, without a word of prodding from me, have told me that the "food at the Shoe sucks." They are right. We know it, and I think you know it too. Do you hear of any plans to improve this situation any time soon? Thank you.
