You get 4000 chips to start, so the $5 for 2000 more is well worth it.

And while I'm at it, what's the blind structure like? Not specific numbers, but just in general, is it an ok structure for a patient player?

Runs like a turbo, 20 min levels, antes at level 4.

The structure seems pretty decent, start with 4K chips (get $2K more for optional $5 add on), blind levels at 20 minutes starting at 25/50. I think the antes do begin at level 4.

My best advice to those of you who might be attracted to these local tourneys who don't have much casino tournament experience -make sure you take care of the dealers if you cash in the tourney. These guys pretty much work for tips and the standard is to toke 10% in a tourney, at least when I've cashed in Atlantic City and one time at Foxwoods this is what was typical. I've been there when a couple of final tables ended and people got paid and they all but stiffed the dealer. I know the tips are shared @ Hollywood, but tourney tips are shared everywhere so no real difference anyway.

Not to turn this into a tipping thread, but 10% is too high. If someone told you that was standard, someone lied to you.

First post and it's to lobby for tipping the dealer....could you maybe...possibly...be a dealer? 10% is WAY too high. I'm sure if you hit a million $ score you probably wouldn't be tipping 100k.

Can we just ban the word "tip" and all of it's variations? This is a poker forum not a don't be a douche and stiff forum. It is up to each player customaries aside. Moving on.

LOLZ. There is already a dealer add-on and you want 10% more? Only the super generous give 5% and thats when there isn't a dealer add on.

2-3% is super standard IMO.

No I wouldn't tip 100K on a million win, that would be ridiculous from a pracical standdpoint, but we're not talking about prize pools that big.

I don't work at Hollywood but I do work for tips. I can see how many hours are invested in these tourneys by the dealers and what a shame it is that they obviously aren't making any $$$ on these tournaments.

It seems like the field of players are alot of people who have only played tournaments in their cousins garage or local firehouse and simply don't comprehend that winning players usually throw a bone to the boys. Hey thats what I've seen, maybe I'm totally off my rocker.

I play there alot and know how much the dealers get stiffed by either cheap jerks or people who are too ignorant to understand that its standard to tip a poker dealer in a cash game environment, and have personally seen them get zero on multiple occasions when the tournaments end.

So keep stiffing them and pretty soon you won't have anyone decent to deal your games. Thats my point, I'm not going to post on this topic anymore.

Nice rant, but didn't see where anyone said don't tip just that 10% is ridiculous. Plus it shouldn't matter on what the price pool is. A percentage is a percentage. I do agree that people get stiffed in every line of business and it sucks. End of topic for me.

Craziest 1/2 game i ever saw going at Hollywood right now. Straddle 3/4 of the hands every orbit. Blind $20 to $30 bets every other hand from UTG +1 (first to act with the straddle on).

Average pot size is no doubt north of $100.

Go get you some.

With all of that, most hands were four or five players to see a flop.

Crazy action.

Has the thread died?

I haven't been to HP in a few weeks. Anything new? How have the tourneys been doing? Has O8 been spreading at all? especially weekends?

Anyone know if they will let you call in to get on the list in this room?

I know the list used to get 30+ ppl deep and there is nothing to do while you wait at this place because it is in the middle of nowhere. Does the list still get this deep for $1/2nl on weekdays or only on weekends now?

I would love calling from the road to get on the list so I don't spend 60 minutes listening to music to get into the game.

When is a good time to get in to avoid a long wait? Would 6pm be okay? &pm, or pushing it?

Not sure about the frequency, but the PLO8 did run last night from about 9PM-2AM with a full table and a small list.

No call in as far as I know.

List doesn't go nearly as deep as it used to. Weekdays, never really a list unless they will be openning a new table. Weekends, generally not until later at night, like 8pm or after does the list get going for 1/2NL. 2/5 can occassionly take a longer time due to the players not leaving the 1 or 2 tables playing.

(for the NL tournies) The noon tournies have varied due to the weather over the last couple weeks. But on normal weather days, I'd estimate around 60-70 entrants is the average. Night ones, I'm unsure about.

The Friday PLO tourny got just around 40 entrants the last two weeks I believe.
