I agree this whole situation is ridiculous, but also avoidable. As papayasown said, other venues such as Horseshoe Southern Indiana remove slots and hold it on the casino floor. This would take some work, but it certainly would seem a lot easier than trying to install more cameras in the ballroom. It would be easier for everyone this way anyway it would seem. Possibly keep some or all of the poker room itself for cash games, then if someone busts from the tourney, they are just steps from the cash games or the casino cage if they want to rebuy. I really hope that they are thinking about this not now and not waiting till next year rolls around and the same problem arises.

I was making the 2 hour drive quite frequently when they first opened up, but I've just been driving to Hammond lately. It's a shame they've been letting it slip, that room has huge potential.

I wouldn't necessarily say that the casino has gone "way down" but there are a few things they could do to spruce it up. There is one table, for instance, near the dealer/server entrance that is so warped in the 7-8 seat area that you don't know if you have 19 or 20 chips in stacks next to each other. Not a huge deal but taking that one out of the rotation of tables until it's fixed or replaced would be a start.

My buddy's family business does ATM and security camera work (and did some for the casino when it was first built). I sent him the Fox19 link and his (very rough and not quotable) parts and installation estimate was that it would be around $70k to do the ballroom. He said they'd need "megapixel ptz cameras" that cost around $1500 each (which includes installation, expensive wiring, camera setup, etc). The casino would have to staff the surveillance themselves at an additional cost for the two weeks.

The casino probably has no other use for ballroom surveillance hence why they didn't think it was worth the expense. However, I think one $70k bill to bring in annual revenue like the WSOP-C provides is worth it.

70k is nothing for the revenue generated not just for a circuit event but for an off season tournament series to boost revenue during slower periods. An HPT stop, or some other local based tour.

I'm sure you have extensive experience running casinos. They use the same temporary surveilance at all their stops it should be good enough for Ohio. Also, for accounting purposes they pay a big fee to harrahs corporate to run the event so accounting wise it might not show much profit for the casino itself. But yeah how bout you donate 70k to put in some cameras.

lol yeah I'll loan a company making, conservatively 5 million a year, 70k dollars for some thing that they use at least twice a year for as long as they are in that building.

They spend more than 70k per year on advertising. This is a solid investment, and as far as "good enough" for other states isn't really a ringing endorsement.

Had a dealer last night tell me that if you play table games or even slots, that you should not swipe at the poker table as it will effect your average daily theoretical. Can anyone confirm this?

There is a close to zero chance I would ever call the Ohio gaming commission over an issue in a poker hand. Largely, if there is ever an issue the staff has to handle it immediately anyway.

I requested more tape for the table rails last night & the floor manager brought over black tape instead of the proper tan colored. What a joke!

Plus I was taping over tape because the tan colored tape kept sticking to my arm...

The fact that they had 27 tables open and were very busy last night might have something to do with it. I mean, I saw the floor running chips, doing fills, and trying to keep tables filled, so the fact that they did not bring over the right colored tape when they were swamped is not really indicative of them not caring or the room falling apart. If there is a complaint, why not voice it to the floor and/or floor manager when they have more time?

Was'nt really a big deal. Dont get me wrong I love playing in the room. But it is a small reflection of the lack of attention/care that is being given to the room. The tables & the room is generally kind of dirty. And I 100% blame that on the players being lazy & disrespectful of basic hygeine. I love finding cherry stems in the cup holders.

But do you or anyone else think the tables & chairs could be better quality? Yeah they should.

Plus I've changed my mind from running 6/12 O8 everyday to running a 5-10 mixed game everyday. Or 6/12.

I did not mean to sound like a smartass.. I just mean if people that post ITT would not only tell management themselves, but encourage others to do so, perhaps it would result in some improvements. I agree the tables, and chairs could and should be better quality(chargers for every seat be would be awesome). I noticed there was 400, 000 in the promo fund. If it's not being used, why not use it for that? I don't know if they are allowed to, but at the same time, it is our money and if it is used for something tangible, I can't imagine there would be too much of an issue. Oh, and it sounds like you were playing O8, 6/12 last night? If so, I was around the corner at table 24 by the tv. You may have heard us as we got loud(all friendly). The guy next to me thought you guys were playing with purple chips lol.

Honestly I can deal with 99% of whatever goes on in the room. My only real complaint is that the only game the vast majority of players wanna play is hold 'em & omaha. And that is just each players preference. So to each his own. I really hope online makes a comeback asap. Variety is the spice of life right?

"YOU ARE SUCH A NIT!"

Respectfully,

The guru ITT who said complaining about the lack of upkeep in the room makes you a nit.

By your own words you would rather play at home in your undies then go to this "trash" casino. When someone who comes to this thread and sees the last 6 pages of posts complaining about things like taped tables, dirty chairs, etc. instead of the truly positive things of the room. YES, you comes across as old grumpy nits.

So "Respectfully," if anyone doesn't like it either help keep the room clean, go play somewhere else or STFU.

I would prefer doing that because I can see exponentially more hands and I don't have to be seen anywhere near people like you. And I prefer using duct tape to repair my stuff at home- it holds much better than this colored electrical tape being used at the shoe.

There are endless pages of good things about the room in this thread that you can go back and read. Sorry to put your precious room in a light you do not like, do you work there and are offended?

I think addressing the problems now is much better than saying nothing (the approach you REALLY want us to take for some strange reason) and that bringing the problems to light will prevent a further overall decline in the room. But I'm sure this is way over your head, when the tables are eventually held together with Saran wrap, maybe you'll think, "Wow, this room used to be great."

Then stay home and play on Bovada, Zynga or wherever else you can beat the field. Otherwise I will continue to be there 4-5 days a week playing PLO & 2/5 enjoying myself with the rest of the degenerates, enjoying my casino for the great action place it is, easy access to get to, friendly staff and comfortable environment. & no I don't work there but maybe some ITT should.

It shocks me that someone who says 4-5 days a week is so accepting of the lack of upkeep. If anything you should be expressing concerns for the sudden lack of maintenance. I played today and took a poll of players at my game and the resounding sentiment (including dealers) was that the rails with tape are annoying and gross. If only everyone could accept mediocrity like you...wait...nope. When the tables are in complete disarray and you can scrape the crust off them, think back to these posts.
