I played in the new room Thurs Fri and Saturday and it seems like GVC may return to it's "pre-June BBJ" days which is great.
They had 14 tables running late Fri and Saturday
Tons of new faces that I have never seen before
The sportsbook right there adds a lot
How do you not put down $50 on a game while playing?

The drink prices are still insanely high, but that's my only real complaint
There is no reason a shot and a half should be $10.50 unless you dont want to sell much booze
Heck even Wrigleyville bars would be shocked by that price

Stopped at GVC the other day. Their new poker room was nice. I asked a manager where the WSOPC will be held, and she said it will be held upstairs in the Ballroom.

Any idea on how many tables will be set up?

No, I didn't ask that. but I did wander upstairs to where the ballrooms were. The ballrooms were locked but one room had a sign saying it had a maximum capacity of, like, 530 people and the other room's max capacity was 450 if I remember correctly. I'm not sure if they're using just one ballroom, or both, or if there was a 3rd ballroom I didnt see.

fwiw...i was over there on friday, and while i was waiting for my seat, i went and looked around downstairs. (old poker room)

they seemed to be readying the old room for the circuit event. there were about 30 of the temporary tables (the type they use) in various stages of set up. some still needed the felt and rails added, some were still folded and leaned against the wall. most of the ones that were ready didn't seem to be arranged in any set way. there was a blueprint laying on one of the tables but i didn't take a close look at it. seemed like they could fit maybe 35 to 40 tables down there if they would remove some of the slots.

after i got my seat i asked one of the dealers and he thought they would have 50 tables between downstairs and the ballroom(s). from what i saw, i would have thought they could have a lot more than that. it has been close to 20 years since i was in one of the ballrooms so can't remember the size. he also said the new room on the main floor would be cash games only. i counted 19 tables there.

980 capacity may explain why this stop has 3 Day1s for the Main Event.

When is the new room going to have some good promotions this new still has no draw compared to Rivers.

Well, GVC has tournaments and Rivers doesnt. So i only play at GVC and Horseshoe for the tournaments. Rivers has nothing to draw me in.

Tournament poker is still on the post-CV rise and Chicagoland is prime for a series .. it'll be fun to see what the numbers are before the ME.

Thanks for posting these. I see they haven't changed the horrible structure for the satellites. FWIW it is a much more financially sound decision to just buy directly in to these events as opposed to trying to satellite in. 10K with 10 minute blinds that start at 100 200 200 is just the worst.

Looks like the line situation has been brutal. Anyone playing in Event 1 or Event 2 today that can provide some feedback? I want to play flight B of the $600 tomorrow but may skip if I need to wait for 2+ hours to reg.

i went over there today to see what was going on. when i parked and walked in, the line for registration was crazy long. went to the new room and got right into a game. (didn't call in) i heard that the computer system went down early on...who knows. at some point they were taking grand vic dealers for the tournaments as apparently they didn't have enough of the wsop dealers. i played about four hours and i didn't hear much bitching, and by the time i left things had calmed down. i could have walked up and registered for any tourament, according to the guy registering people.

there seemed to be good energy in the room.

I was in line at 10:30 am and enter the tournament at the end of level 3 so around 1:15 pm , they speed up the process by taking groups of people to the main cage but that create another issue because some people were jumping the line.

I don't understand what they are thinking by initially having only one cashier available for an event of this size .

Another issue I got after returning from dinner brake security check my back pack and refuse to let me back in because I got few granola bars????
Their explanation was not outside food . This is insane I played MTT for 11 years now all over the country and never got this issue . I can't bring my snacks !!!

Not sure how they will handle tomorrow and Saturday and Sunday when a lot more people will show up. When I was knocked out I tried to register for tomorrow but I can't!!!

Was there pretty much all day today.

Complete cluster****. Unorganized, inept staff. Ridiculous lines. 1 cashier trying to serve 500 people.

So pretty much par for the course with this place.

That sounds horrible. Horseshoe Hammond has a better set-up for wsopc tournament registration.

Horseshoe used to be great for the wsop. Sign up at the venue upstairs and had like 5 cashiers working. Not sure I ever had a wait more than 10 minutes to sign up there.

The other thing elgin screwed up last night is they had 16 tables of cash games going and I believe 4 or 5 empty with decent lists.

How do you not have every cash table open during the wsop? Did they not expect big crowds?

This place is mostly a tiny locals casino. No way are they equipped to handle a wsopc event.

Also seems like the structures for the smaller events are awful turbos.
