This effectively shuts down all bars and gyms too.

Both places are empty. Staying open will only cost them money moving forward especially Mohegan who has yet to close any portion of the gaming area until the poker room a couple hours ago.

RI as well. Plus malls and all the YMCAs closed.

Foxwoods will be 100% closed for 2 weeks starting at 8pm tomorrow.

Darn..... If I had to quarantine away from my family I would have booked a free/discounted room at Foxwoods. Room service would have been nice. Now it will probably be a shitty local hotel that happens to have some restaurants near by.

So does anyone think they are doing actual cleaning of the place?

Doubt it.
Was there last week and place just looks grimmy.
Like the walls of a greasy kitchen.

Reason #352,863 why gamblers are the best:

Quote:
In the Grand Pequot Casino, an unhappy gambler named Jose Vasquez played on a Lord of the Rings slot machine. He complained that Foxwoods was not taking his drink order.

“Write that down,” he instructed a reporter.

Anyone else beginning to think that 2 weeks won’t be enough to stay closed?

Anecdotally, many teachers are thinking that the in-classroom school year is over.

Developments make it feel like we're experiencing the end of the beginning not the beginning of the end of this here virus thing.

Here's what I've observed on this subject: Firstly I logged into my Foxwoods account and all the reservations I had made (almost every weekend starting next weekend through the end of April) have all been wiped out by Foxwoods. Secondly I would have normally received my May offers on March 15 and sitting here on March 22 I have no offers of any kind for May.

Using both of these pieces of information can one deduct that in reality Foxwoods themselves doesn't plan on being open before June 1? I'm not saying this is fact but if you look at the clues here you don't have to be Sherlock Holmes to make a conclusion that they may know something that we don't know that in reality is making them not expecting to be open before June 1?

I just looked on my app and my April dates aren’t there anymore either, and I had every week booked.

As far as the offers.... could you be like some of us now and don’t qualify for free rooms based on your play? Just wondering...

Not qualifying for room offers is highly unlikely... I have had free Friday and Saturday nights every month for many years now.

Disclaimer: I play things other than poker (pai gow, high stakes video poker, and an occasional shoe or two of blackjack)... I'm the type of degenerate they want there unless this pandemic has made them lose their minds. So if I don't have offers yet I'm guessing they don't plan on being open in May... This is just me putting 2+2 together (pun intended) and getting 4 it's no type of inside information or anything. I hope I'm wrong but I'm guessing that they know something we don't and have already bagged all of April and May

Again I'm hoping I'm wrong but I got a funny feeling I'm not.

I wouldn't worry about your April reservations. All of mine are gone too, which include some I booked all the way in the fall. You can't book rooms for any date at all. I think the reservation system is completely offline right now. All April shows/giveaways are still showing as valid.

Mnuchin told Fox News Sunday earlier that they are planning for this to go for 10 to 12 weeks.

If we look at Wuhan, China as a possible guideline, they've been on lockdown for two months now.

Models based on 3 months:
CT - https://covidactnow.org/state/CT
MA - https://covidactnow.org/state/MA

Forgot to also mention that airlines are already allowing cancellation of tickets departing through May 31st.

Not to be contrarian, but since I am in MA I will comment on the data I have been watching here. The model linked expects 786 hospitalizations tomorrow (Mar 23). Today there were 71 total reported by the state. In know it is a model, but the current data is an order of magnitude off, which is significant.

Your point about Wuhan is valid. 2 months lockdown, and now things are easing. New cases are close to zero, but vigilance, social distancing, testing, and isolation will be necessary to keep R0 < 1.0.

Good observation. They should move the timeline and doublecheck their R0.

Spoke to a friend who manages one of the restaurants and I told her of them cancelling all April rooms and you can’t book May at all. She was shocked. There has been no communication from Foxwood to their employees.

On the other hand, I know someone who works at EBH and she got a personal phone call from the CEO, asking how everything was going, if her family was okay, they chatted for 5 minutes or so.

Imagine, CEO calling you checking if you’re okay, in what is about 16K employees laid off from 3 of your properties. Pretty sick

Because like I said, they didn't do any of that, the reservation system was just FUBAR'ed. And now it's back and everything looks and works as expected.

I missed your post. I still can’t see them opening up in two weeks.
