The structure is okay, you need to build up a pretty big stack before first break to not be push shoving the rest of the tournament, but I LOVVEEE that first break isn't for 2 hours.

So its not 1:40 anymore? Didn't notice that. If so it might not be as bad as I thought.

Agreed, I like that about the break too. The structure though ****in blows based on the afternoon tournament I played there on Tuesday. Anyone know if that's the same structure they use for the bigger buy-in tourneys?

L O L

That has happened to me. I prefer to think it's because I'm a good tipper. Then again, I also like drawing to two pair.

20 mins is standard for these low buy-in tourneys. Was wondering more so in terms of blind lvls.

The trip started out real slow but it's starting to turn around. Just about back to even in cash games after digging a huge hole. Played 3 small tourneys with no cashes. It's been crazy busy out here. Last weekend with the electric daisy carnival . This weekend the seniors wsop event is going on. Got to see and play with Broadway a couple times. Great guy as u all know and I think he ran well. He posted his wsop bust out hand in the O8 forum.

As far as Atari , I talked to him right b4 I came out. Sounds like he was crazy busy with a move and for some reason hasn't been able to retrieve his acct here.
Any other detroiters coming out in the next few weeks?

Most tourneys go to 15 min levels after the first 2 levels, or after the first break.

Yeah, I don't think I've ever played in such a tourney here on the east side.

Probably will as the night rolls along. Last night started off slow, but got really juicy around 12:30. Open raising to $50 in a non-straddled pot got me 4 callers. One drunk decided it would be fun to shove dark. He lost at least 2k in an hour. Would've been more, but he maxed out his card. A bad 5/10 reg went into super spew mode throughout the whole night (calling $60 preflop raises with 84s).

It got crazy when otter left.

I played in the afternoon for a couple of hours. I was the donkey that straddled. The hand gets limped to me and I check (I'm a great player). After the hand, two monster hands are shown down, and the guy in the big blind to my right would have sucked out on them both, but he folded preflop because, "it was a ten dollar buy-in."

argh. woulda been chip leader w/ 7 left in the $100 tourney at the Electric Stick today if I had won this hand: (came in 8th instead) 88 in the cutoff. i have 550k. blinds are 25 50k. i make it 130k. bb calls w/ 2d4d. flop is 2 7 9, two diamonds. he checks, i'm all in. he calls. turn 2. gg.

I coulda played better and i don't even know how to play!'

the truth is, everybody's favorite hand is 42 or some two-card combination with a deuce in it, and the only way to get them to take 20 seconds to lay it down pre is to go ALL IN and risk EVERYTHING before the flop. cause deuces? it sure as hell beats AK when the flop comes 972....

Played the 1:30 at 3Kings today. I've been playing like **** lately and went in today knowing I need to step up my game. I feel I did a good job of that and was feeling good about all my decisions leading into first break. 2 hands to share with you:

Last hand before break. I have a pretty aggressive image so far and have shown down a variety of hands, both strong and weak (that got strong in the end). Blinds are 400/800 and I have ~50k. I open for 3600 with 88. Short stack in MP puts all his 5300 in, next player re-shoves for ~20k (was this even legal after the first shove?) and then CO also shoves for closer to 30k. At this point I have to figure my 88 is dead but I was faced with that unique opportunity to eliminate 3 players simultaneously. It was very tempting to just try to get lucky but I end up folding. Of course, what hits the flop? An 8 . First shove was JTo, next was TT and last was AQ

Next, blinds 700/1400, I'm BB with 72. 4 or 5 limpers, I check to see a flop of 268. SB checks, I lead out with 3200, MP raises to 6400, folds around back to me. What's your play here?

do you have the deuce of spades or not?

the 20k reshove was definitely legal. had he flatted your open and then the shortstack jammed then it got back to him without anyone besides you two putting in another raise it'd be an issue (and even then only if his shove was less than a min 3 bet), but as it was he could have raised your raise no problem.
