there's a 2/5 plo running on wednesdays starting at 6am at motor city casino.

i'd call to confirm that before you go, though.

Ahhh, it has been asked before. Boxey or something like that? He posted the link to YouTube in this thread before. Not sure how to find it.

I don't understand this post at all. How is having the largest room in the world and a bunch of other large ones an inferior dynamic or fewer options? I guess if you're talking about density of English speaking poker players, Michigan has LA beat, but i kinda like playing where there are 8 languages per table.

I'm gonna try to get my wife to wear something slooty and get all freaky tomorrow night. (she already passed out tonight)

Can I get a "take it down" from Pot Odds RAC one time?

I think among the regulars from the rooms such as Docs, Electric Stick and NVD, its going to breed at least one or two beasts we will see in the future. I can think of one or two guys in particular that I see cash out with two to three racks on a consistant basis.

I only issue my TID when I think there is significant chance of success.

What I remember about heads up PLO, I have Gambit covered with AJ23 on a J45 board and he has JT9x and board runs 8, Q and Gambit starts a come back to win that match. Sick.

All you winners have inspired me to play a tourney tonight! Where should I play that doesn't have a re-buy tourney?

On the eastside, pretty much everything except Four Aces are regular structures. Cadas, The River or Snookers are all good options, although from West Bloomfield I'm not familar

Also, what's my move here?

My fiancee and I are heading to L.A. tomorrow (her first time, I lived there for 6 months back in '07) and I noticed that the LAPC was in progress, namely the WPT $10k Championship. I'd label myself more of a poker fan than a player, in many aspects, and always wanted to experience a TV poker table of some sorts (I've never been in Vegas during the WSOP either). She understands my obession and since we're renting a car and can't check into our room until 3 p.m. she said she'd have no problem heading to the Commerce Casino when we arrive (11 p.m., day 5 kicks off at noon). However, the list of people that I'd be stoked about meeting is dwindling from the tournament and although there's a lot of really good, internet players and such still in, I'm questioning if it's be cool to meet 'em or not. The final table is Wednesday and although I think it'd be fun to be there for that, going for day 5 gives me a better opportunity to meet more players. So with that being said, should I drive 25 minutes from LAX to experience the atmosphere of a WPT tournament and possibly meet Joe Hachem or David "The Dragon" Pham (lol) or just head south to Laguna Beach and catch the broadcast when it airs.

Other things to keep in mind:

- It's 'only' going to be 60 there tomorrow and it's not the best weather to lounge on the beach

- I pretty much stalked Jean-Robert Bellande and Teddy "the Iceman" Monroe at the Aria in Vegas last month since they were the only other "poker celebrities" I've meet outside of Joe C.

- I have a pretty impressive collection of over 75 different chips from casinos in Vegas, Atlantic City, Detroit, etc. and the Commerce chip would be a nice addition

- We're there for 5 days, so a few hours at the casino won't prevent us from doing everything else we planned on

- Based on tweets on Pokernews, players like Jason Mercier state that there are some juicy cash games being played, but I question whether or not they'll be running at noon

Should I fulfill my bucket list item tomorrow or wait until there are players that I'd enjoy and be excited to rail?

Thanks!

I would stop at the Commerce tomorrow if you have time to kill. Might as well take advantage of being out there and if meeting pro players is what you like to do, then do it. Worse case is that you dont see anyone you want to meet and play for an hour or 2 instead.

Cliffs: pretty much anything you do in LA in Feb is better than being in Michigan in Feb.

Have fun!

I've never been a fan of their structures. Never been to a FT where the avg stack was more than 7BB. Have they improved it at all?

EDIT: Should say "Never made a FT with more than 7bb avg stack that only took 2 hours to get there."

Here is your play:

Why watch? Play!

Here are the steps:
1. Empty 401k.
2. Go to Commerce.
3. Buy in to 600/1200.
4. Have a good story.
5. Get multiple denominations of Commerce chips.
6. Pay early out 401k taxes.
7. Pay quarterly gain taxes.
8. Replenish 401k.
9. Profit
10. Stay in LA for more than 5 days, because 5 isn't nearly enough, as you know.

i mean they*'re not 'well structured' but only because they're charity tourneys that start at 7pm. for being what they are i like em. as a former pro mtter i can attest there are a lot of opportunities to succeed with the structure they spread.

and if you're in a spot where the stacks around you are real short, i like to look at it as an opportunity to play unexploitably against anyone who may have an idea, and to exploit the guys who are playing too tight too short (almost everyone).

*NVD tourneys

and congrats on the score, jose! tough to beat the feeling of 13 dimes jangling around in your balls all weekend. way to represent the D

Go get on the list for Live at the Bike.

No, seriously, you should go to the Commerce. Do you play super super high stakes such that you need to worry about "some juicy cash games being played, but I question whether or not they'll be running at noon", or were you referring to juicy games to attract the celebs you want to stalk? There are plenty of games there at all hours of the day.

I think there is better chance of it happening at a Charity room. The roundtree in ypsilanti runs PLO fairly often and has been selling out the max 15k in chips regularly. I think they are going to get 2 charities now.

Think I'll hit up Snookers. Thought they were rebuy tonight but doesn't look like it. I want to be away from the 7 kids as long as I can and their tourney gives me the best shot at it.

I am insulted that "The Frank Panama" is not considered a poker celebrity. Do you consider him a media star? Gambit's sidekick?
