Previous post involving Penthouse reminded me of my experience there.

First, the events leading to it. It was a Saturday and a group of us headed to the annual Comic-Con in Novi. The whole convention isn't really my thing but some of my friends are into it and it's something to do. While we're there, my buddy's g/f is approached by Garrett Wang. No, he isn't a porn star. He was on Star Trek Voyager or some ****. Only reason I know of him is due to the long standing joke that one of our friends looks exactly like him. Anywho, after making small talk he invites all of us to an after-party at the hotel where everyone is staying. To this day, we still say he was trying to nail our friend Jen. lol Ends up being a good time as he introduces us to a bunch of barely famous ppl who were also at the convention. I only really remember Kristy Swanson. More importantly, he has gotten to know some of the models including one girl my friends and I were oogling at the convention. He invites her over and we all talk and drink late into the night. Before we leave, the Wang invites us to Penthouse the following evening. Who are we to say no.

Get there and park right next to the building on a side street. As I park, so does another car with 3 girls ... who judging by the way there were dressed ... I thought worked there. Get to the door and we're all turned away because it's mandatory you get your car valet parked. Apparently this is too much of a hassle for the girls and they decide to go elsewhere. Good one, Penthouse. I eventually get in and spot the Wang and my friends who got there earlier. The place was nice I guess. I haven't really been to many strip clubs, never really liked them. The girls were hot though. I expected worse. Some interesting moments though. Had an old Middle Eastern guy "make it rain" when he threw a couple hundred dollars in singles onto the stage. It was both sad and funny to see the girl crawl around after her routine making sure she got every single dollar. Had a girl trippin on coke ... going to just about every guy and giving some crazy lapdances ... for free. Again, drank all night and the Wang covered the check at the end of the night. Good times.

Nothing like Vegas though ...

Just sat down at 1/2 and played a pretty strange hand. I over limp 44 in MP in a straddled pot. Guy in LP makes it 15, folds to me and I call. The guy thinks everyone folded and exposes his KK. The dealer explains to him that I called and we play the hand out. I get a beautiful Q84r flop and lead into him, he calls. I lead the 8x turn, he calls. I shove the Jx river and he snaps

Did he know you saw it? Maybe he thought you were trying to bluff him out of his KK. Nice donation though, grats.

That's why we play the game. This is just so classic. So he really thought you were going to try to bluff him with all your chips knowing you knew what he had. If that was the case he should have just shoved the flop. Well played. I take it you're at MCC from reading the other thread. Beat on the beer.

No I am not playing it it tonight. It is too far away and has too many sharks in it. But I imagine it would be fun and Im sure they would love to have you sit in their game...esp since you were not able to play PLO8 with everyone last Sat. Also, word on the street is that your monies is the monies everyone is after anyways.

I guess it depends what you're looking to do. I've only played tournaments there, but it seems they have a cash game about every night once players start busting from the tournament... maybe around 9? I think it gets started a bit earlier than that Fri-Sat but I've only been there those nights a couple times. I can't really comment on the play of the cash game since I've never sat at it.

On the weeknight tournament side, they are cheap buy-ins with a high fish population. I used to play Mondays and it was usually a good turnout but have been playing Wednesday or Thursday lately. My playing schedule has been changing around my gf's school schedule. Ended up playing tonight, there were 5 tables, I got busted by set over set. Wednesdays 7:30 are $15 with unlimited $10 rebuys til break and Thursday 7:30 is a pick your price ($20-$60 i think). I'm not a huge fan of either of those types of tourn, but they both have their pros and cons and usually have at least 5 tables. I suppose if you are driving a little ways to get there, one of those nights may be a better choice as far as tournaments go because the prize pool is generally a bit bigger with the extra buy in money, therefore more worth the ride. I haven't been on a Friday night in a while but last time I did it had around 70, though I'm surprised by that now that I'm hearing Electric Stick seems to regularly have over 100 on Fridays.

If you end up going up to Trip Kings, I recommend giving them a call and seeing what their schedule is for the day. It seems like it's been changing over the last month or so and the umich website for them isn't totally accurate anymore. Their number is 734-934-6703. If it's looking like you're going to come out, let me know and I'll try to join ya.

Okay,thanks for the rundown. I will let you know once I know what day I'm going to go check it out. Tournament doesn't sound bad, but like you said, I am not a fan of those two formats either.

Yeah, I had a feeling that's why Joker keeps being nice to me and asking me to come out. Hey, I'm off work next week, so probably then they can get their shot at my rebounding bankroll.

Might want to check out Mon, Tue, or Fri than. I think those still offer 1 rebuy but it's better than unlimited. I wish they'd just up the buy-ins and get rid of the rebuys altogether.
