I've seen people go nuts with AA in their hand during the omaha round at some of the charity rooms. I don't know when this changed, but I guess their round by round is now 1-3 with 300 max. I used to be 2-5, I think the Holdem was 2-5 and when it was Omaha they made it 1-2, couldn't remember. I was there last Wednesday and stacks were pretty deep, the shorty at the table was sitting around 600-800.

Since I got my pokerstars check, I've been playing a bit more live. I've been spending most of my time at MC, but I've gone to snookers twice to play cash. I have to say the best action still is in the casino on the weekend. You tend to get more recreational players at your table and a few bad regs. Although at Snookers I have seen a far share of tournament bustout players who jump into the cash game and have no problem putting in 100-150bb with third pair. Casinos tend to have less internet wiz kids making life hell for you and more everyday Joes or pension/social security retires who are just there for fun.

I'm also surprised hearing about how many of these kids are staking other kids in the room. I've seen at least 3 people talk about deals they have with other horses in the room and other people asking for more money. God I hope these guys aren't backing these kids in these tournaments as well.

What are the days/hours open for Burton?..

I've been wanting to play 3/6 omaha since the days Soaring Eagle spread it back in the day..

I wish we could get some of these limit games going around the Snookers/River/ area. I miss good ole limit poker, the 5/10 LHE games at Motor City were soo good..

I'm trying to do what i can to support LHE too. Some of the folks from the 15 RxR are trying to get a semi-regular $10/20 game at the MC. I gave them my info; if you're interested, i'll let them know i have another if they contact me.

I wish.. $10/20 is just a bit outta my bankroll

The highest I could play would prolly be around $6/12.. I just remember I used to play the 5/10 at MCC and it was awesome

Ahhhh the good ole soaring eagle limit hold em days. I remember when I ventured in there a few weeks after my 18th birthday, right in the heart of the poker boom in summer 2004. The only games going were limit hold em. Usually about 10 tables of 3-6, 2 of 6-12, and 2 of 10-20. NLHE was non existent at Soaring Eagle for several years, far beyond when all the other rooms in Detroit/Windsor were spreading NLHE games. I do really wish that were some regular LHE games going. It seemed a few years ago there was at least some games going on, now there is zero. A little over a year ago I actually managed to get a 6-12 game going at Soaring Eagle and it was the first time they said they had that game going in over a year.

Thanks for sharing about the experience. That would be great if Legends did start spreading a 2/5 game. Good luck!
I played the 2/5 game at MCC on May 9th, Monday night. I'm sure it's not the best day to play for action. When I got there, I was part of a new table that started, mostly with players that were in the 300-2000 game (assuming that's 5/10). It played mostly like a 5/10, with quite a bit of straddling, and large pre-flop raises, along with frequent 3 bets.

Most of the players seemed competent, as well as aggressive (sometimes to a fault). I must have looked like scared money, until I picked off the laggiest of players firing 3 barrels, when all I had was top pair decent kicker. That accounted for most of the $800 I ended up ahead that evening.

I assume that most of the games are a little more passive/loose than the one I was in.

I'd be up for 6/12 too, although i don't know that the people from the 15 RxR would be. Any chance we can get another 8 or so people to make a game go? (I would say 4-5 others, but starting a game with 7 is risky unless several people are willing to play shorthanded in case a few don't show up.)

If anyone can provide some information about such poker rooms within Detroit Metropoliton Area, that will be highly appreciated. Thank you in advance.
Johnny G's Poker Room in downtown Mount Clemens has .50/1.00, but not .25/.50.

Thanks, Steeser. I'm going to try my hand at it myself and report back. Too bad these stakes don't run more frequently at other rooms.

We can make it part of a mix game rotation. We were already trying get a HORSE or 8 game started with limit holdem

I absolutely adore mixed games, but i'd expect you'll have an easier time getting a regular LHE game going and using that to build up your mixed game than vice versa.

BTW, the perfect compromise between 6 and 10 is to have a 7.50/15 pink chip game, but i don't know if the casinos would go for it. Those traditionally get crazy action in AC.

Should we start a new thread, or keep it in this one?

Get a list of players who would be willing to play.

Motor City Casino.

I was there this past Friday, and they had a 300-1000, and a 1000-5000. Both, I believe, were 5/10NL

If Mount Clemens is a centralized location for you gentlemen, we would be pleased to host your game at Johnny G's. I could do a $1 rake from 6:30-8:30pm and cap the rake at $5 after that? Or we could work something out to where we are both ok with the arrangement...

You can email me at blackdogpoker@gmail.com to work out the details, or stop in any Thursday-Sunday around 7-8pm, at the poker room, 27 N. Walnut, downtown Mount Clemens. Thanks.

Mt Clemens rather than Detroit adds 25 minutes for me each way. I'm interested in this regardless, but i'm not sure the reduced rake makes up for the gas i'm going to spend (plus no comps/free food), so i'd probably still vote for a Detroit casino.

So 1-2 for NL/PL games, what about the limit games, what bets are talking, 5-10? I may be interested.

Above i suggested 4/8, which is better for limit, but that brings up a valid point: How do live NL/PL/FL mixed games work as far as chip structure? Little 5/10 pots with a few red chips in the middle are bad for limit games. Tons of white chips are great for limit but annoying for NL. In my mind the ideal would be to have plenty of both.

I like 4/8 that seems like a perfect limit for me. I don't think the chips are going to be too much of an issue really. Just have a few working stacks for each limit.

I would be willing to go to Johnny G's, Or even the casino, either or is good for me!

What are the highest limits (limit and NL) that you can find at MGM, Greektown, Snookers?

I've heard they play 40-80 O8 one day a week, is this true?

I believe Greektown has only 1/2 nlhe and once a week 5/10 O8 and 5/10 round x round.

MGM highest game used to be 2/5 nlhe, but I haven't been there in a while.

Snookers turns one of its 1/2 nlhe tables into 2/5 nlhe or rxr depending who's there at about 8 pm each night.

MCC runs 5/10 nlhe regularly and 10/20 nlhe once a week. Not sure about their biggest limit games if any.

Definitely will do 4/8 for limit games and 1/2 for big bet games. We will vote on location once we have a group made. Just need one more, I believe.
