Any advice on the tournaments that get the greatest turnout? apologies if this has been covered recently, looked back a few pages and saw some people implying that bad advice/trolling was being given in response to a similar inquiry

Gates typically have the best turn outs for tourney's.

What kind of buy in are you looking for?

Really hoping this can be a regular game in town at least on weekends
I'm skeptical that Isle can sustain this. It's a nice room but its location means there is zero walk-in traffic. Although perhaps that doesn't matter for PLO? It sure doesn't help the hold'em games, though...

Mutt-I like PL structure, think it makes for more strategic play, you have to be able to play postflop. But then I also like PLO8 better than PLO, I think PLO8 requires more skill. Maybe GG will be able to get the 5-100 O8 game going again, probably just wishful thinking on my part.

I am going to moving back to CO in Sept. I currently work in a card room in CA but as a TPP Player however I am interested in becoming a poker dealer I am trying to figure out if i should move to Denver or Colorado Springs. Where would be the best move in order to become a poker dealer. Also do you poll tips or keep your own? Do i have to claim all tips if i keep my own? How is the income working at Black Hawk or Cripple Creek since i will be living solely on my income.

Blackhawk > Cripple Creek. So Denver > Springs in that respect. Plus Denver >>>>>>>>>>> Springs in general. Tips are pooled, and yes, you have to claim them.

I don't know of anywhere in Black Hawk where tips are pooled. Keep your own and taxes taken out automatically. The only time they're pooled is tournament tips split by downs.

I would much prefer a PL structure too but it just doesn't work post flop with a $100 max bet in affect. It automatically turns into a spread limit game when the pot exceeds $100. I think any sort of stability that will be seen at the isle will be weekend driven traffic. If they can get Omaha games going, the Omaha players will show up.

Wizard- any estimated date of bravo being installed at GG?

or should I get work off and come up and play?
Are you talking about Friday, the 25th (today)? Can you call ahead in the week and get on the list?

Just to clarify, they are offering PLO hi at 1-1-100 on the weekends?

To the guy who was asking about propping, take it from one of the few full-time props in black hawk that it's the hardest thing you'll ever do. I honestly don't know if the $10 is worth:
Limited/no game selection
Having a set schedule
No comps/promotions

Getting that extra paycheck is nice though. Also if you need medical insurance, that's another benefit.

There's always something nice about showing up to work and sitting around/barely doing anything and getting paid for it but poker is a mental game and if you're like me, you aren't in the mood to play poker every day which sucks as a prop because that could cost you money if you aren't in the correct frame of mind.

In the end $10 an hour (or 11 at the Isle) alone isn't enough to make a living, so you're still going to have to win. If you can average $100/10 hour shift that's up to $20/hour and $10 of it is untaxed (which is currently where I'm at based off my logs).

I guess I can't really give you a straight answer if it's worth it. The only true way to know is to go up and play like you normally would and keep your game selection, etc for a few months.. then start propping and compare it. I'm not sure if I would or would not be averaging $20 an hour otherwise (keep in mind i'm pretty much strictly playing 1-2). Well more like $18 an hour when you figure in taxes and if you really want to get nitty you can start factoring in promotions/comps/etc. Oh and paying $3.50 for round-trip bus passes is another benefit of having a job up there. Okay I've started rambling on, any qjuestions feel free to ask.

Omaha game was a total nit fest... No big winners and no more game after about midnight... There was some good 1-100 hold em action though...

Thanks for the update. Pretty sure that's the first time I heard "nit fest" and "PLO" in the same sentence.

What was the structure 1/1-100? No way it could be PLO.
