Another newbie question... with the $100 betting cap, are there any weird restrictions on buy-in amounts in the various games?

500-1k at a time, many, many times for the most part. A few buy in deeper.

pretty rough to think they have now taken $2-2.25 million off the tables and have it tied up in the BBJ...but not if you hit it I guess

So is the BBJ $2 million? The largest I remember it ever being at the Lodge was $500K. I know you regs hate it, but us once-a-year Blackhawk players treat it as our little-version of the Mega-Millions.

I'm going to the HPT next week, but haven't been been up there in awhile, so can you tell me what the qualifying hand is for BBJ. In the old days at the Lodge I believe the qualifying hand (losing hand) had to be quad 8's or better. Also, is there that rule that a certain amount of money needs to be in the pot?

Thanks.

No, not $2M. Unless the BBJ has been hit in the past few weeks, there are 3 jackpots, each with >$500K. They would bump the 1st level up $50K (to $550K) then the 2nd one, which was at $500K, would climb to $550K, then the 3rd. Then they would start adding $$$ to level one again.

Qualifying hand is any quads beaten, and > $50 in the pot (seems trivial even for the 4/8 limit game to get this).

Sorry I don't know what the BBJ is now, must be ~$700K if $2M has been taken off the table. No info on website

Make sure you ask for 4 racks of red so you look as insane as the rest of the table

I usually buy in 2-3k fwiw. I start w/ mostly greens and end up w/ a mountain of reds.

Main jackpot is just over 600k, with other 2 and 600k. Little known fact: there is an app for iphone/android from 'Bravo' that gives you all the info on what games are running, how long the lists are, AND the BBJ #'s.. been using it for about a month now and it's great!

Pretty sweet... hadn't heard of this app. Do you find the wait times to be accurate?

So, obv shilling on that Isle post, but I did receive an email to the address on my player's club card with same promo details.

I don't know if it will actually bring players in to the room, but...

I've compared the Bravo app to the actual lists at Ameristar and a bunch of Las Vegas rooms in real time and they've always matched in my experience. It's a great app, I just wish MGM rooms would get on board.

I will be in Boulder, CO for next 3 months time and planning to go to Black Hawk to play texa's holdem. I was playing holdem online when in India on tournaments and lost 300 USD so far . I am not a big fish but considerably smaller one

I want to experiment live play in life. I know I cannot play cash came but I could think of tournament. I see the couple of internet sites that the minimal buy in for tournament is starts with 40 USD at Golden Casino.

Are there any cheaper buy in for texas holdem in Black Hawk for tournament since I never touched the real poker table and chips in my life?

Anyone played 40 USD tournament at Golden Casino? How long the typical tournament 10:00 AM duration goes?

Thanks,

Nari

The $40 dollar 10am at golden gates is the cheapest tournament as far as i know. I would think it tends to last around ~4 hours but you will probably go out pretty fast as the blinds increase quickly.

Lady Luck has smaller tourneys, too. But I think they have very fast structures. They play like a turbo.

How many 1/2 regs post in this thread? Just curious, haven't been active on 2+2 really... I've started playing live recently after black friday and have been putting ~40-50hrs a month recently mostly at Ameristar.
