Where's the best place for $1/$2 or $2/$3 NLHE? I might be in Denver for a few days in a couple of weeks and always like to check out the local action. Is Golden Gates best for daily tourneys?

There needs to be a FAQ in this threads...

It'd be nice. I'm moving to Colorado Springs in January.

There is no NLHE in Colorado. It's all spread limit - $100 max bet. Golden Gates is the best of tourneys. Ameristar is best for cash.

Makes me a little bit sad, even though I don't have many hours there. It seems like it wasn't that long ago (but maybe it's 10 years now?) that Lodge was the premier room in BH (pre-Ameristar hotel days), and the BBJs would draw people from everywhere in the country to play. There was a WSOP circuit event there in 2013 or thereabouts where they took over the entire top floor. And then just like that it was over, went from 12 tables to 6 and now to zero. A lesson for Astar with the pending opening of Monarch and rumors of them trying to take the 30/60 game? Pretty much zero chance they'll be that forward-looking but we can hope. And who knows what Monarch could do to entice that game anyway, my car is basically on auto-pilot once I turn up the canyon.

"... my car is basically on auto-pilot once I turn up the canyon."

I think that applies to most of us. Definitely for me.

When does Monarch open? What kind of poker room are they going to have? Is it supposed to rival Ameristar?

Only thing for certain is they'll have 501 rooms so they can lay claim to the biggest hotel in town. Opening day still seems a long time in the future as the new parking structure doesn't even appear complete yet, still gotta raze the old one then build a fancy hotel- 2 years? Just a guess though. And poker room is obviously just as speculative, hard to say what the landscape will look like by the time they open.

I think once the Monarch expansion is completed it may generate traffic around the Isle poker room, but that may be overly optimistic.

2 tables of 50/100 ran last night. I believe this is the first time there has been more than 1 table. 50 is the new 30!

HPT is coming up. I'm going to play for the first time this year. Does anyone know if you can get cash for the satellites? Or do you have to play in the event if you win a seat?

$130 single table qualifiers get you $380 in cash. Those are hard to come by lately due to limited space.
$200 and $380 multi table qualifiers get you $1650 ticket only. You are not able to choose saturday's flight. Unless your qualifier is on thursday or friday evening.

Wildwood used to have a couple of tables as well -- did they get rid of them?
