Was there last night and for first time in my memory there was no 6-12 - not even an interest list. No 4-8 either, but that's been common. That means LHE games jump from 3-6 to 8-16 1/2 kill to 20-40.

Wow, never thought the 2/100 spread would take out the mid limit games at Canterbury like they eventually did at Running Aces, but it seems to now be happening. So they must have quite a few 2/100 games to choose from now most nights at Canterbury right?
How many 2/100 spread games typically run or are more 300 survivors running?

Why would anyplace run so many games that increase by crumbs? 2/4 3/6, 4/8, 6/12, 8/16??? Seriously???? Foxwoods, most, Go 2/4, 4/8, 10/20, 20/40, 40/80. Zero diff from 2/4 to 10/20 everywhere

For years MN had a $60 bet limit (now $100). The result was that Canterbury was limit only. Each of those games had its own niche and style.

2/4 was for the older set and novices.
3/6 and 6/12 were for the less aggressive (3 and 6 chip games)
4/8 and 8/16 were for the more aggressive (4 and 8 chip games)

15/30 for the sharks and "richer" fish. 30/60 for the pros and whales.

(and these all mostly exist now except the bigger games are now 20/40 and 40/80).

On bravo tonight there is all the games (and 2 each of 6/12, 8/16-kill, 2-100 spread).

Oh how I miss thee CP. Didnt make it out last trip in November. I skipped 2/4 and graduated from 3/6 to 6/12 to 8/16 with some play at 15/30 and mostly jumping over 4/8. Made sense at the time.

Biggest factor is no NL. Really seems to make for a more sustainable player pool.

I don't play much limit any more but I guarantee you that the 8/16 and up games at cpark are much tougher than any other games in the country.

Funny, I thought the 8/16 and 20/40 games there were the best I had ever played at either level in the country.

Good as in tight nits? Or good as in loose and fun?

I saw there were snow mobile races at the track last week..... Is this on going every weekend ?? Their web site is pretty dated.. Thnx

I've never been in an 8/16 game there that hasn't been loose and fun. 20/40 in my limited experience depends on players in the game.

8/16 is usually not "tough". High variance to be sure. Play with any regularity and hand reading is pretty easy (not a big skill of mine). Regulars are easy to put into playing style camps. A few that are skilled and tricky. Try and stay away from bad spots with them. Pretty much all randoms suck one way or the other. Huge spazzes or so scared and tight.

Only game anywhere where I have routinely seen the dealer need to make multiple shoves to ship the pot.

Cool, sounds fun. Still have never been dealt 2 cards that were not raise worthy...

I mostly play 2/100 up north at Running Aces mainly because its very close for me but was at Canterbury last night and the 2/100 spread games are exploding! I hadn't been to CP since before Thanksgiving but Friday they couldn't open 2/100 spread games fast enough, I think at one point they ran out of tables. I think they were up to ten 2/100 spread games at one point. I moved around a bit and finally found a great table with the type of players you dream about. Unfortunately I couldn't make a hand but that is another story. Needless to say I will be going back a lot more often in the near future.
Live poker is definitively not dead in MN

Got stranded in MN due to a connecting flight that couldn't get to the east coast , so got some bonus time at CP Saturday night. 8/16 game I was in was good. Not super crazy but still good.

Can't believe how little changes. Knew 1/2 the players and most of the dealers. Haven't lived in MN in 4 years. Yummy chicken and wild rice soup.

It is pretty funny, a lot of the same dealers and players from even 10 years ago

Canterbury is a great card room. Whenever I am washing my hands and see someone blow past the sinks I yell "Hey, Mr. Bungle. Wash your damn hands!" Once or twice I've seen someone walk from the stall and start walking right past the sinks. That is absolutely disgusting so I make sure they hear me. It was an older gentleman and I yelled "You know better! Wash your ****ing hands!"

Anytime anyone doesn't wash their hands they need to be embarrassed.

One of the few rooms where the dealers generally make more than the regulars/pros.

Still can't believe what a scam Minnesota poker is. The stupid bet cap is $100, while the real bet cap (pit games) is up to $300. Should be the same for both; so greedy. Will probably never change though because of how much they rake in a limit game.

One can also view that the player population is more sustainable which is better for business long term. The fish have a much better chance in the short term.

Does Canterbury allow backpacks? RA used to make me check my backpack when playing a long multi-day tourney like the MSPT, not sure if they still do under the new management. Does Canterbury do this as well?

Based on observation, I think it is illegal to play 20/40 or 40/80 without having a backpack at Canterbury, so they must be allowed.

Thanks. I've been doing Keto/Atkins and want to bring my own food this weekend since they don't have much for low carb offerings.

Saw this too late, but there are ways to eat low carb there. You can order chicken breasts and vegetables even though they may not be on the menu. You can also order the omelette without the sides, and they charge you less than what it says on the menu. They also have premade salads in the deli area

Right on. I usually get their Caesar salad, but was pretty sick of them. I saw a big sign when I walked in that said "No outside food or beverages" and security had me open my bag to check it, and let me have my backpack anyways. I asked a dealer if they cared if I bought my own food and water, and he said they usually don't care as long as you aren't bringing in your own alcohol or some crazy amounts of food.
