the people who bought 6 digits+ at 35 cents made a killing today.

Awesome news, not gonna get too excited till ftp is up and running and i am able to cashout as normal but the deal with the DOJ was the biggest hurdle to overcome and you would think that if they can work that out then they will probably work it all out. Still some way to go though.

at this point the other dude comes back and also talks about how the "bionic" is also sweet and im like ok should i look at that? he's like "well, it's $100 more..and remember earlier when i was explaining the idea of getting the best 'bang for ur buck..'" (yes assclown, i do remember u explaining the super advanced concept of "bang for ur buck"..please go on).."well i don't think the bionic is worth an extra $100 so i think ur good w/ the charge."

then bro #2 tries to sell me insurance, i say no thanks im good. he kinda scoffs and is like "HA! ur not getting insurance on a $500 phone!?" and im like "nah im good..u guys are making enough money off me already today..don't need to give u any more." and he just kinda scoffs again and then just sits there frozen for 5 secs and says "well if ur not going to get insurance then id recommend getting a case." "haha alright fair enough."

then at the end he asks me to fill out this customer evaluation thing and i basically check yes in the 4 or 5 questions where checking yes is what they want to hear. then at the end i have to tell them how i liked my overall experience w/ the sales rep(s) on a scale of 1 to 10. i decide to be generous and give an 8 even tho i thought they were kinda clowns. i give it to the guy and he about has a heart attack. "omg are you serious..an EIGHT!?!?" im like "dude an 8 is pretty good." he tells bozo #1 "hey man he gave us an 8! can u believe that?" other dudes like "awww man for real?" then i said "well i thought an 8 was pretty good, and i mean u guys swindled me into buying this phone when i clearly wanted the iphone so i think it's pretty fair."

haha just kinda awkward and they should obv make those things anonymous and not have the ****ing guys you're critiquing read it right in front of you and then bust your balls when u give them honest feedback.

so anyway, just wanted to see if anyone has any experience w/ the "charge" and whether or not someone that's not very tech savvy like me should go w/ a phone like this (or other phones in the droid family) or should just stick with what i imagine is the more user friendly iphone 4S.

CLIFFS:
Had a somewhat funny interaction w/ verizon sales rep clowns
iPhone 4S or something else?
my brother had the iphone but didnt like it. Then he got the bionic but he didnt like that either. He has the charge now, and says its amazing.

Yup, this. I'd bet a fair amount that they got some kind of commission bonus or spiff whenever they sold a charge. I know this kind've goes without saying around here, but in most circumstances you don't want to take advice from salespeople. This is especially true when their job is entry-level. Their incentives are setup to make the company the most money and that is rarely what will satisfy the customer the most. Obv these guys aren't worried about having you come back in 1-2 years to buy from them again.

Also, these guys sound like total dbags. Most salespeople really annoy me.

Edit: Should note that I know nothing about the charge. You may end up liking it a lot more than the iphone, but you shouldn't listen to cell phone salesmen.

what's funny with this story, is my wife's parents have gone into Verizon multiple times in the past few weeks and have gotten their ears talked off wrt the iPhone. Now they are completely brainwashed where if they dont get the iphone the world will end.

fwiw the new 4S is incredible. The voice recognition of Siri is mind blowing
11-02-2011 , 02:53 AM
lol don't talk to young customer service people. if you want an iPhone get an iPhone. if you are considering another phone go online and read about phones. dealing with customer service in various avenues can be a massive time saver (e.g. 40 year old guy selling you musical equipment or a suit or butchering a chicken for you can tell you a tonne of **** in 0 time) but young people very rarely have your best interests at heart and usually don't have much knowledge either (either go with old dudes or the internet is the rule i'm going with here, young people are just like a bad version of google for most information gathering).

post about supernova elite crazy prop bet that i made at PLO forum. hope its fine post here.

i have 250k vpp. i need 750k vpp, which means ~750k hnads in 2 months playing PLO 2/4-5/10 6max. if i play12tabling (i am not good at multitable. i usually 9table max) will be 800hands/hour, if i play 17hrs/day for 57days, thats ~730k hands. i will be grinding mostly PLO 1/2-3/6 w/ some 5/10 6max. but i want be able to play 25/50 if one day i get tilted. just trust me, my grind will be 1/2-3/6.

- i am not good at masstabling and max i played in my life in one was 80k hands

- i need good odds. but i am brazilian and i never give up, so don't need be that high odds.

odds on this?

u play 1/2-3/6 but are u self banning yourself from 25/50+? because i have a feeling that could affect the line significantly
11-02-2011 , 04:33 AM
so even if you 12 table for 17hrs per day, every day the rest of the year, you will fall a little short? sounds like the odds should be about 8 to 1 with the 8 turned on its side.
11-02-2011 , 04:46 AM
sorry, said it wrong. 16hrs 12tabling is 730k hands. 17hrs 12tabling should be ~ 775200hands. anyway not playing 17hrs a day. lol i might learn 15tabling?

atm my plan is play mostly 1/2-3/6, but i want be free to play 5/10 whenver i want. actually id like to be able to tilt at 25/50, but if people who are betting want lock and say its ONLY 1/2-5/10, i acept. i also hope flips (nl and plo flips ) are aceptable, because they are a big part of my grind. but they are hu flips, rake is just 0.50, so lower fpp.

urubu, you are insane. you will fail at this and be miserable trying. you should find a more fun and rewarding prop bet for yourself.

yeah i like the charge so far..but i had the storm for the last two years which really sucks, so i don't really have experience w/ a cool phone to compare it to.

yeah the dbags at the store were saying it doesn't work very well. i actually also read a couple reviews online w/ people saying that they really just "weren't getting along w/ her." but there were some people that said siri was great too so w/e.

re talking to salesmen: yeah they clearly get paid more commission for selling samsung phones relative to the iphones. and def agree w/ martin (and whoever else) that these type of guys rarely have ur best interest in mind and usually know jack ****.

Its pretty doubtful they make any more money based on what phone you buy as no matter what phone you choose phone prices are highly subsidized by the carrier. The real downside of getting a 4s on verizon is that you're stuck using their ****ty evdo network for internet which is extremely slow in comparison to LTE.

Also the reason Siri is weak on verizon and sprint in comparison to ATT is that it uses the data network to figure out wtf your saying. Their data speeds are slower so Siris response time is greatly increased because it takes longer for it to transmit the data to the Siri servers and to get the response back on the device.

As far as being able to recognize what you're saying, its certainly an industry leader for voice apps. They licensed the technology for figuring out what words you are speaking from the company that produces the "Dragon:Naturally Speaking" dictation software which is widely considered the best in the industry.

FWIW, several of my friends worked in the cell phone industry for quite awhile up until ~2 years ago. They definitely got spiffs for pushing certain phones. It kind've surprised me too for the reason you mentioned.

And Urubu, you are crazy.
11-02-2011 , 02:15 PM
Yeah, I worked in the cell phone industry before I got into poker. Its definitely possible however I think its more likely that they were sold out of iPhones. Hard to sell what you don't have.
11-02-2011 , 02:47 PM
