I just watched a couple of 20 minute bites of a couple of episodes on
http://www.pokernight.com/ and a typical line up, 8 handed, seems to be about 4 pros, a couple of semi-pros, maybe one sports star or other celebrity who can play a bit but is not great, and 1 total spewtard fish.
I didn't see any straddles but I guess these come more often as players get stuck and the game gets deeper
or nearer the end of the session.
They also seemed to run it twice a lot in big pots.
There is also a lot of chat and bonhomie going on with 2 or 3 players seemingly "playing for fun" and being fairly de-sensitised to spewing their money away.
In other words this game is +EV for any good player who is playing professionally to exploit the over relaxed outlook and loose style of some of the other players.
Opening ranges from the clips I have seen seem wide and calling of an opening raise even wider. A short/shortish stacking TAG style seems perfect for this kind of game.
Obviously the line up could be different or tougher to what is described above, but they are making a TV programme which is almost like a mini soap opera with characters playing parts in it so there has to be a diversity of playing strengths and player backgrounds in it to achieve the mini soap opera effect.
