About what? I made more money than OP in my last working year and I have a new job that even if I just turn up I earn more every year and have ridiculous holidays. And I'm actually pretty good at what I do.

I also don't play in the games that OP does.

*If op makes the same next year I'll earn less, and this would last 2 years. Assuming the games don't die out and my salary doesn't increase as of the market which are both unlikely.

For the record I wouldn't play poker as a living unless I was earning about 4x more than OP.

edit 2 - That's also the issue OP isn't some dumbass he's a smart guy with good prospects that he is wasting.

2017 recap with bullets because I cbf to type a paragraph out

- +~13k in poker
- +more than that in crpyto
- +$$$$ with stocks
- First 6 figure year and I'm 24.
- GF graduated and got her masters
- Made it through the year alive
- Did some coaching
----------------------------------

2018 goals
- 250k hands poker
- 50 coaching sessions (counting ones I get and ones I give)
- monetary goals are dumb, but 25k+ in poker
- do some more pio work
- do some pop analysis work
- stream a couple times a month
- find a new job that I enjoy (this is #1)
- lose some weight
- take a legitimate vacation with the gf
- enjoy life

Although my goals were originally a bit different since I thought I'd be working a job, but basically met all my goals except taking a legit vacation, but we have something planned for june 2019.

Nice year Brokenstars.
I noticed that you only play ~300 hands/hr on average though? I'm sure that you're capable of playing more than that. You could consider opening some more tables (even if lower stakes) to increase your hourly a bit.

Also, I like that hit n run at 2knl. Classy.

That stat is mis leading since it is per stake. I'm limited to a max of two of one stake at zone and four of a reg table.

One zone is about 200h/hr
One reg is about 60-80h/hr

Nice year brokenstars.

I am usually in the same boat when it comes to feeling like I’m running bad, and it usually boils down to a sense of entitlement tilt that comes out of knowing I’m better than the people I am playing with.

It also means I don’t REALLY understand variance as well as I do in theory....or I wouldn’t get upset about it.

The best thing you can always do is remind yourself that the unreal variance is the only thing that keeps this beautiful little game from disappearing completely.

Good luck in 2019! I enjoy your posts and streams a lot, most streamers aren’t smart AND funny

I took entire months off and was overall fairly lazy with regards to playing poker as a whole, but don't really regret it as I definitely didn't realize how depressed/unhappy I was at my job ... like HOW much I was unhappy. During Christmas, my dad said my sister stated to him a looked significantly happier than last Christmas and that was solely because I wasn't working at that **** job anymore. So given all that pretty happy with year results, though I really wish November/December would have gone better to push me over that 6fig with only poker.

I'm just going to keep it simple

-1200 hours of online gameplay
-50 hours of coaching
-$150k USD results
-Take vacation in June
-Be more consistent with volume (just aiming for 100-120h/month)
-~50k+ hands at 1knl
-Lose 25+ lbs

Edit:
-enjoy life
-have fun

^ this every year for me. I want to be happy in life and that is all.

I think that's about it

To each their own. Earning more doesn't necessarily make you more successful though, in terms of money yes, but in terms of life and happiness not so much (though it does help if managed properly). Maybe I'm just patting my ego cause I'm a broke grinder who earns significantly less than OP and I used to think money equates to success also but in all honesty, I would rather make 1/4th the money working for myself than working a dayjob. Then again I am a pretty lazy person and value freedom more than money, but like I said to each their own. I personally would consider that a lot of monks are more successful than some of the richest businessmen.

Getting into the whole "I'm more successful because I earn X amount more than someone" mentality just builds up your ego around monetary focus. When you consider the billionaires of the world and how you stack up against the just moderately rich even, earning 2x more than someone really isn't that much of an accomplishment.

You wouldn't play poker for a living unless you were making $350k+ a year? Lol k

Probably. He played that session he mentioned on 1/5 and lost a bunch in around 2 hours iirc and rage quit. Probably his last session of month. Possibly last of the year.

It's funny to see how unsuccessful people are jealous of other people which are way more successful than they are.

That way of viewing the world will only hold you back, bro!

Mason, will you be streaming this weekend? Hope you are taking a needed break! GL on the tables!

Oh Rapid. Please tell me how much successful you've been at poker over the years with your world view. Now compare that to how successful I've been. Even just last year I played less hands than you cuz I'm lazy af, put in almost no off table work and still made more than you. Now shut the **** up.

edit: obligatory get off broker's nuts and vamooooooooooo
