Hey everyone,

Goal: Make 8k grinding 1/2 2/5 during the next two semesters.

About Me: Long time lurker first time posting in a while. I'm a 19yr old uni student in New York. I got into poker the typical way, friend invited me to a $5 basement tourney in high school. After that I really got into the game. I have been playing a lot of 1/2 recently doing decently well. Since I just turned 19 I can get into Canadian casinos so I will be playing mainly at Casino Niagara and Fallsview. Other casinos I will play at are Turning Stone and Salamanca Poker Room.

Think it is a realistic goal? I will keep this updated not sure if people are interested though

First Session: Luckboxed my way to be up +244

Headed up with a friend on Wednesday night to Casino Niagara to play a six hour session. I'm interested to see what you all think of grinding on a weeknight? They had about three tables running. Anyway I chipped up relatively quickly to around 450 (bought in with 200) when this hand came up.

hero has Jc10c someone raises to 7 and we have 5 callers to the flop

Flop- ($33) First to act makes it 15 guy to my immediate right kicks it to 30 he is running like god, mid 20s arab decent wearing a hoodie with hood up. In talking he says he was down 800 last night but right now he is sitting with around 600. Hero is next to act thoughts?

Well I lost a lot of money that hand oh well. These games are easily crushable and heading back up there tonight. To finish up my session I gave a guy a rough beat when my QQ hit a flush against his AA. He was mad lol. Anyway this post has been kinda lame but im interested in getting some feedback from the lurkers.

Just got back from playing tonight. Saturday nights are always juice! Played some interesting hands that would love to hear feedback on.

I'm UTG with K 10 limp $2 (350stack)
guy next to me raises to 7
6 callers, im last to act and call

Flop (49-2rake) 4 4 7

Alrighty so this hand has potential, effective stacks are between 100-300
check check to me I bet 25 (bet sizing to small?)
I love the old people that try to spite me.
4 callers WTF?

Turn(174-7=167) K

Check to me whats my action?
Pot sizing is my main question here.
do I bet 120? Check? Bet 50 and hope everyone calls lol?

Next hand was the second last hand i was going to play

Hero picks up AK UTG+1 raises to 12

Russian guy in middle position bumps it to 26. He is in his mid 30s and speaks little English. I've only been playing with him for about an hour and he already lost his first 100 buy in. He pulled another black out of his pocket and calls lots of hands to try and hit. He is sitting with around $80 to start the hand. I put his three betting range as AA, KK, QQ, JJ, AKs

Old Indian guy in the blinds shoves for 44 since he just lost a big hand the pot before and has been complaining he has been card dead. He is shoving here with a huge range. Any A and any pocket pairs maybe even suited connectors. Pretty much dead money in the pot.

Hero? Fold? Call 44 with Russian guy last to act (would probably shove) or shove over both bets $80 total.

Would of snap folded probably but with $44 of dead money in the pot worth the push? Calling $80 total to win $204

I'm gonna post these hands on the Live low stakes forum.

Also pulled a decent bluff against a middle aged TAG guy who I knew would respect my raises.

Thanks again for reading!!

I'm a sophomore at U Buffalo. My friends and I head up there all the time. Weekends there are amazingly soft and loose as I'm sure you know. Still love this drunk guy shoving $200 every hand screaming he has to get to LAVA ASAP lolololol. I'm probably going to head up their for their next tournament series. Would be great to ship one. Also bad beat is ridiculous right now 140k.

First hand, with 6 callers, having a paired flop is extremely tough. Any one of those six callers could have a 4 and your only drawing. KTs plays a little better 2-3 handed to the flop. I would have either 3bet to 30+ or folded after the raise.

Also, someone out of those other 4 callers on the flop could have the Ax. You have to be careful there, as well as a King with a higher kicker. A lot of hands beat you on the flop. Curious to see how it turned out.

Second hand,

This may be a stupid, degen move, but I'd prolly shove all in. Big slick is great, try to scoop the pot up preflop. Don't know if original raiser would call or not, seems like he may. With a wide range, you have him crushed. At least take down a small sidepot with minimal -EV. I'd say if you got them both aipf, you're making a +EV move. Could be wrong.

^^^why not? It's the weekend so the games should be better. I would consider buying in short though to reduce some variance. If after a couple hours the table is super fishy and you got dolts on your right with big stacks, top up.

Fish were plentiful last night. Wanted to post one interesting hand that I played in toward the end of my session.

Hero on button with 10 8

UTG+1 raises to 7 (600)
call
CO call (200)
Hero call (500)
SB call
BB call
lol 1/2

Flop: (42-2) JQ A

UTG+1 is a guy I bad beat the other night in a huge hand QQ vs AA. I would say he is one of the better players at the table and claims that he is a winning 2/5 player. He is in his thirties, black, wearing a hoody and sunglasses. I just got moved to this table after my table broke. He played a huge hand against a young kid on a 7 55 4 2 three spades where he raised 120 more on the river and let his opponent pick one. He picked a 6 and tanked for 3 minutes and called with AQ high and shipped a massive pot.

CO has played two hands and is an old white guy who I judged as being pretty bad.

UTG+1 bets 25
CO calls
Hero Calls

Turn (113) K

UTG+1 bets 70
CO ships aprx 170
Hero ???

My main question is do I reship because I'm basically freerolling the nuts. Or do I flat because I know that UTG+1 is capable of folding the straight cause he knows im probably freerolling.

Another hand that was interesting was a hand where a middle aged lady raises ten with a 200 stack. She was a horrible player but she did limp aces earlier in the night and raised 44. I call on the button with A10 the flop comes A A 4

She insta leads 25
Hero?

We really have to evaluate whether were going to the river now cause I felt like she is getting it in this hand.

Thanks for reading and following everyone will be posting the start of my graph soon.

I like just shipping stacks in. If the board pairs you can't be too happy about life. With AT, if you think she's never value betting a worse Ace OTT, then fold turn. Hopefully you called and binked a T.

I think you can flat on the first hand, with your read on that guy he's probably smart enough to know you have the straight there. Either way it should work out for you.

On the 2nd hand I ship it in. She's not getting away from the this hand probably has A x, if your up against A J or A Q or A K well that's just ****ty luck and not much you can do, she seems to be committed to it. If you do just flat call do you let it go if the turn is a Queen, or what card are you not scared off, I don't trust old ladies like this. Plus the older players at 1/2 there are pretty stubborn.

So here is what happened with the two hands the other night.

1) I ship with the nut straight and flush draw and the guy next to me starts berating the old man for shoving saying that I'm freerolling to the nuts and he is to stupid to realize. He shows a 10 and mucks. River blanks so I take down a little profit with the chop.

2) The lady has such a wide range here I decide to call her down. She shoves river and I look disgusted and call and she shows QQ. ($
