This is what I mean when I say this dude is trolling tf out of us. You have ~$1k to your name and you go out to a $150/plate restaurant? I get the whole discount thing but still. It would've been cheaper and more romantic to buy the lobster and cook it yourself and then take a blanket and picnic basket by those giant white sea shell looking things that Australia is famous for. Just seems like a made up story to drive people like me insane. It's working. Still happy for you on the bink tho. GLGL

Silly me for thinking the guy with a $900 life roll wouldn't spend >10% of his wealth on one meal.

Infact its not trolling though. Several guys have confirmed met the guy, and he posted a pic of himself in the old thread wich also confirmed is the same guy they met.

I have seen and heard _alot_ of stupid ridic stuff through my 10 years as an active player in the livepokerscene, and i have zero doubt this story is real. Like ive mentioned before its unreal what kind of delusional world some gamblers/pokerplayers live in. Some of the stuff in this thread is the icing on the cake, i have to admit that- even though ive heard insane amount of absurd stuff before from degenerates.

^^

Trolling has multiple meanings. It's always been clear elements of ops postings have been real, just as it has always been clear parts have been sheer fantasy. Add in the elements of deliberate ommission (like how much his mum subs him) and we have super-troll who finds his purpose in life through his online persona. Poker is just a platform...no doubt he has others.

But fair play to him, he has found a very receptive audience.

and as for this...

All in all, it's been an amazing night and it only cost us $100 in total, which is ridiculously cheap. I'd say most people would've spent $500+ getting the same experience that we did, since they would've spent $340 getting food for 2 people, then maybe $200-$300 on an overpriced bottle of champagne.

I think I'm actually pretty good at being financially savvy.
masterful trolling. A+ OP. gold like this is why we come back

A free night out

So I just got home with my wife now at 6am and man, it's been one hell of a night.

In the evening, I withdrew another $300 USD from the bankroll, bringing it down to $400, but giving me an extra $450 cash (since 300 USD = 450 AUD). After our friends finished in the VIP room around midnight and went home, my wife and I went down to the bar and started paying for drinks, using this $450. We had this dumb idea to try to get "free drinks" by playing the pit games and winning the cost of the drinks. Initially it went well: I was up $100 from roulette and up another $150 from blackjack. But then I ended up giving that $150 back at blackjack, as well as losing an additional ~$300 at casino wars and spending about $50 on drinks.

So I was down to just $200 cash, and I decided to give live poker a shot. It was about 2am at this stage. I sat down at a 1/3 NL table whilst my wife railed me from a distance. Pretty soon, this hand happened:

1/3 NL, $200 effective

Hero raises $15 UTG with JTdd
4 callers

Flop ($68, 5ways) is 8s 7c 4s

2 checks
Hero bets $40
BTN calls $40
3 folds

Turn ($140, HU) is 8s 7c 4s Ah

Hero jams $145
BTN folds

As I was midway through playing that hand, an old friend whom I haven't seen in months came up to me. Since he was there, I proudly flipped over my JTs (gutshot) semibluff before racking up and leaving to get more drinks with him.

We had a few beers and it was soon 3am. Then we decided to take another shot at poker. So once again, I told my wife to rail me from a distance and I sat down at a 1/3 table with $200, leaving the other ~$100 cash for my wife to hold on to.

The table was actually insanely loose. Like you'd think that I'd be the maniac, given how much I had to drink, but I was actually the nit of the table. To give an example of a hand: 6 limpers, I raise to $40 in BB, 3 callers. And the kinds of hands they were calling $40 raises with: Q7s, K7o, 22, etc.

I slowly turned my $200 into $550, by nitting up and getting paid. It got to around 5am and the table continued to be amazing, but I decided to cash out and leave for 2 reasons:
1) I could sense that my wife was starting to get tired, and I wanted to take her home.
2) I thought it's a bit risky having $550 on the table when that's about half of my bankroll.

So I wished farewell to my mate and caught an Uber home with my wife. Now I'm doing the calculations and I have $550 cash (AUD) and $400 in my online poker app (USD). So I actually broke even tonight. Not only did we get to enjoy the luxurious 5 star hotel buffet, and get a sh*t tonne of drinks, but it actually cost us nothing, because we finished the night with around the same amount of cash we started with.

I miss these sorts of crazy adventures tbh.

The cheapest way to drink for free at a casino is to sit at a bar with cheap video poker/bj/w.e and occasionally bet the min when the bartender is looking.

Holy **** it’s scary that your wife approves your gambling pit addiction man... that’s a dark road. If you’re going to play black jack at least learn to count cards so you can have a 1% edge!

I can think of no better way to spend an anniversary than a lovely buffet dinner, drinks, pleasant conversation, and then 4 hours of standing 50 feet away while your husband drunkenly plays poker. It's every little girl's dream come true.

I'm not sure how it works in other parts of the world, but at least in Vegas they've implemented software that tells the bartender when you have enough coin in to warrant a comped drink.
