....The grind WAS going good for a while. I was approaching $150, started playing some MTTs. i was either the chip-leader or top 5 in at least 3-4 MTTs, (some $5s, one $11 rebuy, a couple of $10s). one of them i get coolered KK<AA with 14 people left when 1st place paid $960. in the $11 rebuy, only 6 people got paid, and I busted in 8th on a 3-bet shove preflop AK<44 on a A-Q-A-4-7 board Just cashing in that one was good for $250.

after a couple of other deep runs in MTTs i started playeing reallllyyyyy badly. tilted off about 1/3 of my roll. its amazing how taking a few beats when you are so close to tripling your roll can make your brain snap. luckily i have learned from my past meltdowns, and i stopped my pathetic loss-chasing before it got too out of control. apparently i still have a few tilt demons to work on. eh. life goes on.

so now now its back to the STTs and only play a FEW MTTs which i can AFFORD. lol

so its back to work. i feel great and my game is feeling strong, so there's no reason to worry. i know that a MTT will be binked again when the time is right. as long as i work hard and focus on the process of improving constanly, the results will come on their own. to end on a positive note, i just got 35% rakeback added to my account today. first time having rakeback so i'm pretty happy!

I don't think there's a player out there with at least some tilt demons learing over them. Guilty here. Agreed, can be rough when you can put an actual considerable $$ amount lost due to a bad beat.
How's the MTT field for Merge? May filter in some cheapys to the grind. Can't figure out how to get the scheduled times and dates to my timezone which is tilting as fuuuuu.
Rakeback just became available when the month rolled over right? Read something about that on the Carbon thread. Gotta look into it.
And nice setup, would like to upgrade my monitor in the near future...

ya know, the schedule for mtts isn't all that bad. the thing is, there aren't a whole lot of tourney in the $2-$5 range, which are the ones my bankroll can afford (kind of). the ones that you can find at that level are mostly turbos.

rakeback just came back this month, yeah and thanks, the picture of the monitor isn't great, but i had some sngs running and minimized so i was in a hurry. its a samsung lcd...a 5 or 6 year veteran

i've been able to make a small profit while surpassing my volume goal the first 2 days of June:

Yesterday was a day where I had to just keep registering games and playing my best. For some reason, I was bubbling in many sngs, most of the time as a 70% favorite or better. I have been working on my bet sizing near the bubble, as I think I was shoving too wide in some spots before, trying to abuse the bubble situation. Lately I have been playing post-flop more near the bubble, and getting the money in good most of the time. Feels like my game is improving, even if my bankroll is going sideways.

Back to work. Today is a new opportunity to succeed!

on the bright side, I am crushing my volume goal of 20 games a day. rakeback and my bonus will take care of some of the ugliness of today. i'm still focused and ready to get this thing back on track. my bankroll, amazingly is still at $110.75.

pretty crappy start to the day. nothing would fall my way at all. but, i battled back to make it a somewhat respectable day, considering i played 47 games. rakeback was only $3 and some change so the day was definitely in the red.

Merge is doing their software upgrade tonight, so no more grinding. maybe watch some videos or read a little STT strategy. if anybody following this wants to skype, you can PM me.

It's been a while since my lats post. Everything on Merge has been haywire for the past couple of days, so I didn't see the point.

So yesterday i downloaded the free 30 day trial of HEM2. It looks pretty sleek IMO, and just aesthetically speaking I like it better than PT3. I have yet to use it on the tables though, so we'll have to see. PT3 wasn't working properly on RPM as of yesterday, so I'll have to check if they made a patch for the new Merge software yet.

Anyways back to my poker goals. I have been crushing my volume goal of 20 games a day, which feels good. I know to most grinders that isn't a lot of games, but for me it was a challenge at the start. After about a week of practice it can be done easily + a lot more.

So my next goal (I so brilliantly started this thread with no concrete goals in place which is probably why nobody is interested and I don't blame 'em) will have to do with improving my ROI. On Sharkscope, they say I have played 1,802 sngs, with an average profit of $0, a ROI of -1% (???), and a total profit of $30

Now, a looooot of this volume was done on super turbos a few months back trying to release and earn bonuses. So the numbers are slightly skewed in that way. I know that I can have a ROI of ~10-20% playing only 1-2 tables, but I haven't figured my likely ROI for 4-6 tables.

So I'm thinking....I'll start from scratch on HEM2 to see a general range for my potential ROI, and then make a goal to push myself based on that info.

Sorry if this thread has been a dudder so far, but it's going to pick up momentum now! I had absolutely no vision or goals whatsoever when this thread started, so if anything at least that has changed!

thanks man! i need to get to sleep soon so i'm rested for the $10k freeroll tomorrow. i'll have to mix in a few other MTTs tomorrow too.

so i just finished my final session of the day and its just after midnight. been grinding since 2am on and off. i played 51 total tournaments, mostly stts. i only played in 3 mtts and i cashed deep in 2 of them. got 10th in the $1 rebuy and only spent $3 on BI's. the other one was a $2 freezout with only 23 ppl and i got 2nd lol.

most of the other games were stts as i said. i ended up getting in the money 32.8% of the time which isnt great but i think its respectable for the day. i bubbled 9 times today :/ just ended today's session with three straight 3rd place finishes which makes me feel....meh.

sorry if this isnt very lucid but i'm really tired , not editing or reading going to bed.

I'll make at least $3-4 from rakeback today, and $5 of my bonus should be clearing any time now. It seems like it should have cleared by now.

i reached my goal of 100 games today to get the Monday bonus on RPM. it was a long and crazy journey and looked something like this:



this is only the third time i've played 100 tournaments in a day. it gets a little easier each time, but not something i can do daily yet. the graph is flatter near the end because the last ~10 or so sngs i played were .11c super turbos since i was so tired.

ended the day at exactly 100 games and up $8.60 after RB . also waiting for another $5 to clear from another bonus any time now...seems like its talking a lot longer this time for some reason.

well, i have to get some sleep so its an early night for me. GL
