hiya, its still closed while we're still looking for a better location, tough to find a prominent one at the right price, we found a couple of places but they fell through at the last min. Havn't updated about it because we're still looking, but have got some bigger ideas about it all, but nothing concrete.

Yeah only golf, while i'd like to bet NBA i'd imagine it would be one of the most difficult sports to beat. Am thinking about betting more sports, but they would probably be minor ones, darts, snooker, cycling, possibly cricket etc.

Week 19 Update

Poker

Been enjoying the grind this week, refreshed from my break. Felt Like my session started to drag yesterday / getting a bit bored, so took a whole day off yesterday, and probably will do some overdue poker hand analysis and some golf stuff, then back on the grind on thrusday.

Week

Session Structure

In a bid not to burn myself out again, i'm going to make my mtt sessions shorter. Max 7 Hours rather then 8-10 i used to do. Before my break i was really struggling to get all my golf stuff done, poker review and then get in a 8 - 10 hour session, just not enough hours in day and wasn't sustainable long term. 7 Hours also allows me to eat meals outside of my session so i dont have to shovel down food in my sync break which i hate. So my session will typically look like this now.

Hour 0. Late Reg' all Reg speeds that started 60 mins ago, turbos 30 mins. Reg everything $22fo+ $5r+. Reg 18mans to get table count up to 20, $15+
Hour 1. Stop Regin 18mans. If tables under 20 add $15 mttsngs.
Hour 2. Stop Regin Large Field Reg Speeds; eg "The Bigs"
Hour 3. Stop Regin Regin rebuys, or mid size field deepstacks
Hour 4. Stop Regin Small field reg speeds
Hour 5. Stop Regin Turbos, all MTTsngs
Hour 6. Stop Regin Hypers
Hour 7. Wind down any tables still going.

Thats the general guideline i'm operating under, if theres a high value tournament that i wanna play i'll make a few exceptions, the odd exception is unlikely to make my session go over 7 hours.

With the schedule i'm confindent i can play it 4-5 days a week without getting burned out. The big drawback is more turbos and more mttsngs which means a reduction in my abi and therefore $ per hour when playing. Lets see how it goes.

Cake Poker

Have stopped playing on a cake cashier skin as its taken a month to receive a $1k e-wallet cashout, losing faith in the site. I've heard Intertops process faster, so gonna try them this week. I used them in the past for sports betting and to my surprise i found £463 in there that i didn't know i had.

The Players

Wasn't heavily against Tiger this week, but did some laying at low odds sunday morning, oh wells. Most others in contention were good greens, Sergio was $+11k. I did pretty well on the smaller markets so was happy to just let the win market swing. After Tiger birdie'd the 10th felt like it was over so just went to bed (4am), apparently missed some drama.

Fooking Sergio.

Back to bread and butter events on pga and european tour, liquidity is poor this week, bit worrying, but the events arn't that great so thats probably why.

You take many views/positions prior in markets such as top whichever nationality on whose value, or do you wait and do it between rounds/IR depending on value IR (since it seems value prior to start is harder to find).

Out of interest do you find many discrepencies in between markets? Like obviously top 5/10 prices you'll often have 2 guys at 2.8 for top 10, but top 5 market one will be 6 whilst the others 4.8. This obv depends on golfer as some are more likely to either win it or blow up whilst others (westwood?) are more often in the mix/consistent so prices will be lower.

Hiya,

Few years back I deferred uni for a year to have a shot at going pro, bought a round the world ticket for a 9 month trip playing poker as I go. I had 5 months planned in Philippines to see if I like it here, since I loved south east asia but was getting bored with Thailand etc. Met my misses after a month here and have stayed in and around metro manila ever since, I love it here.

Originally the time difference was great pre black Friday, could wake up early and play all the US Nightlys (nightly 50k etc), when those were all the flagship online tournament dailys. Black Friday screwed everything timezone wise to make everything euro based. I used to wakeup redic early to play series and Sunday every week but I don’t have the for that anymore.

Games aren’t as soft as back then tho obv, so playing low stakes off peak games I can still make a good clip in soft games playing at a reasonable time, so I just play when I feel like it regardless of whats running as its pretty much same old donkaments everyday anyway.

Week 20 and Week 21 Update

Lack of Updates

Yeah so i've been pretty lazy with updating, TBH i've been pretty lazy work wise last couple of weeks. Few updates back i talked about how i had to fix my life balance, and i've kinda gone overboard and am enjoying my life a lot but not really getting any work done. Funny how it co-insides that i stop updating the thread, around the same time i stop doing much work, so i'll start updating this thread weekly again in a bid to get me "into" working again.

Poker

So volumes been really crap, played two 7 hour sessions and a 4 hour session in 2 weeks. My review has been sloppy as not been playing regular sessions, and i've stopped doing the math analysis i used to do, also stop posting on our strat forum.

I've been bogged down with some sports betting stuff, but thats kinda an excuse, as i've mostly been pissing around, going wakeboarding and watching the odd training video.

I think i need to try to get in the routine of playing everyday and only take days off when i've feel i've earned it.

My session today felt like a bit of a drag. I think i need to get back in to the strat aspect of the game and working hard on improvement to re-invigorate me. Theres a big strat thing i've been meaning to do in excel but i've been putting it off for couple of weeks, i'll put some startegy stuff in my June Goals so i get it done.

Golf Betting

Had problems spreadsheets crashing, and bets taking ages to sort out and place etc, but been doing some programming so hopefully the time taking to place bets is now reduced as its been taking me a few hours everyday.

Not doing a round up this week, but been blanking / losing in the win markets, which is kinda frustrating but doing pretty good in the smaller markets.

Week 22 Update

WakeBoarding

I started wakeboarding at my local cable park couple of months ago. I started it to give myself a new hobby thats not gambling / work related and get me out the house a bit and i love it. I'm still pretty bad, my latest nemesis is this kicker on the left... (dunno why theres a guy standing on it in the pic).

Its bigger then the one on the right, but i ride regular (left foot forward) and stuff is apparently its easier to hit heelside, so i gotta hit the big one. Here was one of my early (lol) attempts.

I was hitting it all day but it came to a abrupt end on my first real attempt to land it i had my legs too bent, so when i hit the water my the force of the impact slammed my head into my left knee, resulting in 3 stitches on my chin. Unfortunately dont have a vid of that.

Anywho, the reason i'm posting this is that i cant go wakeboarding until its healed next week, so i've got nothing to do all week so i'll get some poker volume in!

Poker

May

Last month ended up as:

Week

Cashes Over $1k

1st "The Storm" 6e rebuy PS.fr - 1040 euros

June

Game Selection - Lower Buyins

Been struggling to get enough volume off peak at midstake buyins recently. I've lost 2 networks to play on, Boss Media and Revolution as the online poker industry withers.

All the skins are jumping ship from boss media, and revolution isn't paying players anymore so stupid to put money on there. So i've been adding $15 mttsngs to keep my table count at 20, however i'm not sure its worth it.

Graph of 2013, $0 - $16 MTT & MTTSNGS (no rebuys).

While $3 a game is respectable for the ABI, i'm probably only putting in enough volume in them to make $3k-$4k a year at them. However maintaining a constant 20+ tables is a pretty tiring grind, especially after doing my sports betting. I feel like my brain only can process so many "decisions" in a day and so cutting out the lower volume will stop me getting so tired by the end of sessions (and maybe stop making me hate poker! ).

So my sessions will go through patches where i dont have to many tables giving me a chance to rest, other times i will have bursts of table overload, but the rest will help my brain to make good decisions quickly while playing the max $ per hour tournaments. Also saves having to constantly reg and unreg all session to maintain "optimal" table count, instead i can just focus on the tables.

So removing these tournaments, making better decisions, not burning out so much etc will hopefully make up the money lost by not playing them. We'll see how it goes.

The warm up event before the US Open, so the only big names who turn up are the ones who want to play a competitive event before a major like Phil Mickleson. It does normally provide a pretty exciting finish tho with a lot of water hazards on the course.

On Day 1 I had my biggest bet on a 3ball this week with a $2k lay on Robert Karlsson vs Gomez and Letzig at 1.92. Lost by a shot. -$1900

Anywho I went to bed at 2am, with my positions Harris English and Shawn Stefani at +$1000 each but Scott Stallings 1 shot behind with and a uncomfortable position of -$6500. I planned to just leave it and hope for the best, but i woke up saw Scott Stallings up by 1 on Harris English with 2 to play and kinda started panic hedging, laying English a from 1.98 through to 1.3 as Stallings typically Bogey'd the last and English Birdie'd 16 and 17.

Week 24 Update

Poker

Played 1 and a half session before the US Open, last one was just to kill time inbetween rounds and was pretty distracted and didn't play that well, hit a mini downer and decided not to play again during the tournament.

Played a session yesterday, got pretty tilted by HEM2 sucking up all my hard disk space, ****ing up all my betting and HEM2 constantly crashing. So having to reboot computer most sync breaks instead of smoking.

Found out after i played that my database grew to 80gig cause of note caddy edge (which i hardly use but have installed). Did a vacuum on it and it free'd up 70gig, redic.

Day 3

Jumped ship on Rory and Tiger after R2 and gave em full lays. Happy to see them both fade away. Week 25 Update

Poker

A week of 2 halfs. Only played 2 sessions, been busy with sports betting.

Session 1

Reg'd up for a couple of hours late on sunday, played a few sunday majors, won a small 30e turbo on lol.fr and 5th in a PS $33 1r1a. Despite that somehow managed to rack up over $3.5k in buyins in such a short period of time, lots of reggy mid-high turbos.

Session 2

Happy with myself about this one. I didn't get my sports stuff finished until about 10pm, i reg'd up a 6 hour session, but most of it was peak time turbos, low edge reggy stuff. Was tired from working all day also.

So instead of playing in bad games while tired, i unreg'd and took a couple of hours off. Went to bed at reasonable hour then put in a long session the following day, playing softer better structured tournaments rather then trying to squeeze in a turbo fueled session due of lack of time.

Ran like god in it, but played reasonably all in all.

Week 26 Update

Poker

Only got 1 session in and it was a bad one. Played on Sunday, but became distracted by golf betting as it was looking pretty ****ty. I remember spewing 3 handed in a $33 mtt and thinking:

"Its ok, it’s only a $33 mtt"

Realising that that’s a horrible attitude to have while playing, I went for unreg all, and didn't play out the remaining $700 or so worth of fast structured buy ins that I normally play.

European Tour

Irish Open

Complete disaster from the off, the win market was by far my worst performance of the year, every move I made seemed to go wrong and my reds seemed to get larger and larger.

I don't really like Paul Casey but can’t really put my finger on why. The final day was incredibly tilting as my nut worst result hit and I now hate him even more as he’s given me my biggest ever loss in a single market.

Win Market: -$11056

Gambling wise I’m not too put out by it though. I often try to max out my ev by carrying large reds into the final round and occasionally they are going to hit, just annoying when they do.

LPGA Tour

Women's US Open

Spent couple of days getting data for the LPGA tour. My debut into women's golf got off to a flyer taking on In-bee Park, laying her pre off. Tried to back her after R1 but alas no liquidity and had to take a loss on the event.

Year To Date

Results have been great, got off to a hot start to the year, and results have been ok for the rest of it. I may have underestimated the $ per game I can make (target is $10 per game for the year).

Volume

My volume has slacked off as the year has gone on, mostly due to sports betting increasing in stakes and therefore me dedicating more time to it to minimize mistakes and maximize EV. Therefore I’m not able to put in 1200+ mtt months anymore.

ABI & Table Count

Since I’ve now got a 6 fig gambling roll (brags: MUAHAHA ) I don’t feel the need to mass table low stakes anymore. It just makes me tired in sessions and often I find I don’t "care" about the tourney which is obv a mental leak. So I’m playing $30+ $10r+ and sometimes adding the occasional ftp $26 or a red tourney. This reduced table count and higher abi should raise my $ per game.

Pace

So I need to make an adjustment to my pace meter thing. Instead of my yearly target being...

OLD --> 15,000 Games at $10 a game.

i'll change it to

NEW --> 10,000 Games at $15 a game.

$15 a game is going to be really hard to maintain for the rest of the year at probably a $45 ABI including hypers, turbos and 18mans but it'll be fun to see if I can do it, if I can't I’ll just have to up my volume during the golf off season.

Updated PACE

$ Pace = $75205 : Me = $80484
Game Pace = 5013 : Me = 4834

Golf Betting

Year To Date

+$94,400 (Not inc Premium Charge, maybe -$10,000 off that figure).

(The Graph is by week)

So golf betting’s gone great, ran hot in poker and golf at start of the year to build a roll, and have steadily increased my stake size throughout the year.
