I wonder what villain would have done if he hadn't binked his 2-outer.
Thanks for the info Arty. I think the snowie solution here would change quite a bit vs. BTN and/or if we were in position. 55% c-bet seems reasonable here on the KLL oop in 3bp. I'm surprised it says its 2ev lower to bet than check there. But, I'm extremely skeptical of how snowie rates the EVs of hands

I've been pretty exhausted. Just finishing day 4 of 7 straight days of working. I've put in two 14 hour days as well, so it will end up being a 90 hour work week. Unfortunately, my workload has increased quite substantially to and it's likely this was literally the worst week possible to be working 7 days in a row :/

My girlfriend's grandma also died, so she is heading back home for the funeral over the next few days.

Needless to say, this week has been rough, but I'm pushing through. Ready for a day off.

Sad to hear about your girlfriend, that's definitely rough. Possible to take some time off to be with her if you need to?

Stick with it though. All of this work you're putting in now becomes worth it when you're like 40 and high up the food chain (from what they say)

Just want to say i admire the grind. I also work full time and have a wife/dog and put in consistent volume live and online. It is not easy, but it is satisfying.

Best of luck to you, stay focused and sharp.

Thanks for stopping in to say that!

Best of luck to you as well.

Oh wow, page 100!!!

My week is over, and I got a lot of sleep and relaxing in. I just got done playing about 700 hands of 100nl and ended up around $30. It was a swingy session as I started down 150 in my first 10 hands, and at one point was up $350 as well.

Going to chill and make some chicken for dinner now.

Haha, yeah. I slept/stayed in bed for about 14.5-15 hours . I am sore though. Unfortunately only 2 days off, so will be working over this weekend---today/tomrrow/sunday, fri/sat/sun.

Lost about $180 playing 50nl HU vs a guy running about 55/48/15. He was folding so much preflop that I was instantly profiting....

But, you know, rather be lucky than good!

Worked 14.5 hours today. I have the next two days off. Looking forward to grinding!

Lost 400 in the last day and a half. Some pretty awful set ups where basically I river the 2nd nuts and villain rivers nuts . Running kind of bad. Overall play is maybe like B-, so definitely room for improvement. I've noticed I've been getting emotionally stimulated (negatively) with the run bad in a way that I almost never experience. Just goes to show the extra layer of stress from work/life affects my game and I'm also significantly less patient with my girlfriend. I need to find something to do to relieve the stress because poker honestly just adds to it.

The good news is that I'm moving to a day shift here in about a week and my girlfriend and I will be looking at some more apartments over the weekend. I'm going to have a 5-day break (much needed) soon as well because of the transition. I plan on playing some poker and cooking dinners for my girlfriend! Should be good! My dad also had an interview for an assistant manager job at a hardware store and he's doing much better.

In other news, game of thrones ssn 6 is out!! HYPEEEEE.

Today will be my last day as a temp with the temp agency I'm with. The company I've been working with has offered me a full time position. Any advice on how to bargain for more salary?
04-28-2016 , 07:01 PM
You were temping all this time?? I thought you were perm!
04-28-2016 , 07:10 PM
Get a better offer from a competitor and tell them about it. If they say go ahead we don't want you anymore, then you got the job with the competitor waiting for you. If they say ok we'll match it, then you get to take your pick. Maybe they even give you a better offer than the competitor, which would be pretty nice.

Having been a recruiter and an employer (amongst many other things) I offer you this...

Nothing beats knowledge (as a good poker player, you can relate to that).

Know what you are worth.
Know what you are worth relatively (to the company, to other companies, versus other people that could do your job)
Know what the company pays and why (Is it small/big? Is it wealthy/poor?)

Know your bargaining position...how valuable are your skills? How rare are they?

Most of all know how you can influence/improve the bottom line (the profits). It is a well known fact that 80 percent of a companies profits come from 20 percent of its workforce (The Pareto Principle). If you are a 20 percenter, and can prove it, you will be in a very strong position, because no profit making enterprise will let someone who directly improves the bottom line through their fingers.

So just like poker its about knowledge and facing reality.

Good luck.
