Lost a lot today but overall i don't think i could have done a lot about it.

The thing that i'm really trying to work on is a thing called entitlement tilt. This is something i have a lot when playing people that i feel i 'should' be beating, whether that be bad regs or fish. There's a really good section in the MGOP that i'm gunna write out as i'm right in the midst of entitlement tilt right now.

Entitlement tilt happens when something you believe to be rightfully yours has been taken. Winning is a possession that you feel you 'already own'. Soon after, or as losses pile up, tilt sets in and players have thoughts or make statements such as:

            - The cards shouldn't matter. I can outplay them
            - This guy sucks. How can i possibly lose to him
            - I'm too good to allow that to happen
            - This guy doesn't even belong at the same table as me
            - Other players don't work as hard as i do
            - I'm supposed to win against fish
            - I have a great track record and do all the right things
            - I work harder, I'm better. How the **** can i be losing here?!

The real problem with entitlement tilt isn't that you believe you are a better player than your opponents. In many cases, that's probably true. The real problem is that you believe being a better player means you should never lose.

Whilst not all of the above applies to me (especially some of the ridiculous comments like 'i'm too good to allow that to happen' I definitely get the sense that particularly with certain fish or regs i react negatively when losing a hand to them.

That's something that definitely happened today and may have caused me to make 1 or 2 bet calls that i wouldn't ordinarily make. Even though they can be semi excused i think it's important to take responsibility for my actions so as to try cut it out all together.

Feeling a little less tilted now which is what i was hoping to achieve by writing this.

In other news we destroyed a team 15-3 last night. Also i'll be starting at my new placement with 3 clients next friday. Really excited. Also booked our house in malta which looks super sick - special thanks to teh time stone for hooking me up

Back at it to try get out this mini ds tomorrow.

Don't think AKo is bad per se, if he has a bluffing range in this spot it's very easy for him to be overbluffing by quite a significant amount (T9+T8 is 32 combos alone, if he starts bluffing JT...).

hmm, i'm not sure i agree. I don't think that the average 200nl reg will be overbluffing here, i'd say underbluffing is far more likely. Losing to all combos of QT that he plays this way alongside having all QT myself plus blocking both ace and king, all leads to my hand not being good any where near enough of the time to call in my opinion.

            ---

Ran totally awful today but felt i played A game throughout. Don't think i lost too much even running as bad as i did which is a good sign.

Reg playing extremely weird. Should probably fold on a king but once i got x/r i decided i didn't wanna fold

Rep set have set probably. It's a good bluff with tt-jj but does he really cold call 3bs in the bb with JTs? Seems bad. He can't really have that presumably so it's qq a lot and probably tt or jj as a bluff but you gotta estimate the frequency. It's a nice line with AK to fold chops. A bold reg could try this with aq too...

I feel like your line is kind of face upish. Which makes it more of a fold or call dpnding on reads. I'd probably betfold flop since my range has so much protection I don't think they can autobluff. then I'd probably try to nit down as cheap as possible. If I knew I wanted 2 streets and IP I'd go flop and turn for sure b/c/b too transparent

I try to avoid thin value spots against good smart agro thinking tough regs where I can almost never have the nuts and they can because then they put you in this spot. That might be okay if you wanna play the he knows that you know game but I'm not a fan. With all that said don't mind a call

re the bolded bits. I agree he can have QQ JJ TT here a lot and also think he can have JT/9T/QJ sometimes. Also wrt the 'nice line to fold out chops' this is true but it's also something that a relatively average reg would do as they think 'oh he can never call AK or AA here'. The danger of that ofc is that if you are not perceived as a very good reg you kinda end up getting owned by thinking players. fwiw i think checking back this flop with entire range is good.

The second bit about avoiding thin value spots is just the wrong way to look at things in my opinion. This is something smb taught me - i would always say that i would weak fold and not 3b certain +ev situations because 'they're just gunna outplay me'. He made me realise that in actual fact by taking weaker/small ball/not the +ev line you are actually costing yourself a lot more money long term than playing to the best of your knowledge. Something to think about!

Well today was kinda sick. I ran actually pretty much the nut worst possible for the first 1200 hands of my session then i found the inner strength to continue to play absolute A-game and reall put my mental game work to practice. Fortunately it paid off. Naughty graph look below...

Really horrible spot to have to bluff but didn't think i had any choice. At rock bottom of range, don't block FD's etc. Shame i got kinda owned:

im guessing you dont have notes/read on his turn tendencies? you often post those tough/leveling spots where we kinda perceived villain to overbluff but he may be aware of this so he may 'underbluff' (or not) and at this point having a diamond or not doesn't even matter (anyway both have merits), I think it's about your read/dynamic with the player and your instincts. vs average reg at 200 and under i like to fold when its close ish.

I mean i do have relatively good reads on opponents but that still means people deviate from their normal way of playing and that's why i like to get general feedback from an unknown perspective. Appreciate what you're saying though, maybe i'll put more stats on villains so you guys have similar info to me.

Well today was a complete and utter demolition. Ran the nut worst in every spot. Oh and i also thought it would be a good idea to take another sermi shot at HU Even though i definitely am not a good hu player, i can't help but feel that every time i play i just get so horrifically coolered. Was a lot of fun and felt very challenged while playing but it resulted in losses.

This was the main pot i lost hu, nothing else really happened bar having the worst hand most the time/getting outplayed most the time:

That HU hand you posted yesterday was pretty brutal. Though I wouldn't get too worried about the coolers, they will even themselves out over time. Plenty of edge to be gained elsewhere when HU.

I noticed you were on a 600 table earlier when I logged on so took a peak. Didnt see any action but I was shocked that I recognised a few of the regs who are usually at my tables.

haha, the 600fr tables are the same as 400 really. The main difference being that a lot of the 600-1k 6max regs play there (ktclubs etc) which makes life horrible.

Had my induction at the placement yesterday which was really good. The university and it's facilities are just unbelievable and as staff i really get the opportunity to utilse them all.

Poker was just awful today. Lost so much. Didn't have the to regrind either. Definitely got to the point where my patience has been worn very thin and i'm struggling to find a way to re-motivate myself. These phases tend to happen pretty frequently (this is my 3rd 100k+hand b/e or losing stretch this year)

Been a really busy weekend with birthdays and packing so only had time to put in 3 and a half hours all weekend. Nice to take it easy but also felt a little anxty with knowing how things have been going the past couple weeks. The flat was a total bombsite earlier - we're not moving out until the 9th of october but cus my gf works such long hours + we got commitments next weekend, we had to get most of it done today. I don't think i mentioned it in here but we don't know when our move in date is (the people living there are having a house boat built and it could be any time up until christmas before we move in... Will have to crash at friends houses for a couple months - should be an adventure to say the least! Hoping it won't affect my grind schedule too much although it'll be impossible for it not to some degree.

Poker was better today, i played less tables, thought about decisions way more as a whole and game selected hard.
