2012 will be my first year as a full time Poker professional. I finished law school this past May and have nothing on my plate for the coming year.

I want to shoot for the top 100 in both the PocketFives rankings and the Pokerstars Yearly TLB. I'm currently 450th or so in the P5 rankings and am 611th in the Stars rankings as of now.

I didn't play enough in 2011. I got a late start from February, dealt with Black Friday, then spent most of the summer grinding the WSOP before finally relocating in July and getting back into the groove. Results should come in 2012 if I stick to my goals and keep improving.



I will keep this thread updated with interesting hands and tournament finishes along with random musings. I will probably post new results each time I get more than 400 TLB points in a tournament or a major score on a non-Pokerstars site. I'll be playing on PartyPoker, Ongame, and iPoker along with Stars.

Part of my goal requires me to play the high stakes tournaments. It feels pretty disgusting to drop 5k in one day. Best finish was 19th. Had a deep run going in the big 162 but lost a bunch of pots post money-bubble.

I didn't pick up any significant TLB and had no scores of note. My internet dropped for 14 minutes and I went from an 11bb stack ITM of the 33R to a 3bb stack and busted 19th. Hoping Stars can adjust that for me.

Other than that the graph is just straight down. Lost with AA and KK for pretty big pots vs improper set mines but other than that nothing really of note.

I hate grinding weekdays after dropping a bundle on Sunday .

Another hideous day. I dropped about $800 in 180's so probably evenish in just MTT's. I put up a 400 TLB score in the 16.50 turbo but got 8th . Ran 99 into AA with 18bb or so.

Also got 10th in a 44 turbo and 12th in a 25/15k along with 6th in a small turbo on 888 where I folded AA pre apparently.

So I've bounced back slightly from a rough start and had a +3k or so day yesterday. I won a $8 6m turbo for about $800 but it gave me another 400 TLB Score. So now I have 2 400 TLB Scores and pace should be 100 scores for 40000 points to be safe in the top 100.

I have 2 over the first 6-7 days of the year so I'm liking it thus far. Got 3rd in a 109 2x Turbo (TT<QQ) and two deep runs in some $33 freezeouts. Can only get better from here.

No real interesting hands to post since they've all been turbos but I'll keep my eye about. It's my birthday in two days so hopefully I'll have a big Sunday :P.

ok I have nowhere else to whine about this so I might as well do it here.. I mix in SNG's with my MTT's and over my last 107 games I'm down $1713 with an ABI of $52.

1 1st, 5 2nds, 10(!) 3rds, 10(!!!!) 4ths.......

18m: 5th= bubble
1 1st, 3 2nds, 0 3rds, 4 2nds, 8(!!!) 5ths

I top out at $100-200 buy-ins. I've bubbled 3/7 of the $100+ 18's I've played and 6/18 of the $100+ 9 man's I've played.

Ok wanted to get that off my chest. It's a small sample I'll be over it tomorrow but SNGs suck!!!11

So between High Stakes MTT's and High Stakes SNG's and law school tuition, I think there's actually a chance I can bust my entire bankroll with a prolonged period of run bad.

I think SNG's should be played to reduce MTT variance, not increase it. I'm not really a fan of 2-3k swings playing high buy-ins so I'm going to add another goal to this thread. I've always wanted a Sharkscope star so another goal for me is to top the $16-35 leaderboard any stake and possibly place on the 45 $30 leaderboard as well (I'm guessing the 18m sickos will be too hard to overtake here).

I'm going to play 6-180's of $30-35 ABI and mix them in with my session. I'll still play $60-100's when I'm playing a full SNG set but from now on most of the games I play during my MTT session will be $30 45's, $35 180's, and $30 18's.

I'll need about 40k TLB to place in the top 100 and be safe so I'm going to list every 350+ point score here as I get them.

I think if I keep grinding these fields all year at this pace I'll have a legit shot at the top 3. Don't think the sickos at the top are grinding $2 turbos like I am :P. There are 365 days in a year and I need 100 of these scores so pace should be one every 3-4 days.

Do you game select your sngs at all? I think I've only played against you at $60-100 9s late at night when they are softer, but I don't ever load them much during primetime (just added volume at night wen hypers are popping slowly)

I got 3rd in a 109 turbo on Ongame to kind of break even on the day.. got 23rd in the 215/200k on iPoker but the Euros are super top heavy so didn't make much

The P5's rankings weight 24 Pokerstars scores and 16 scores from different sites so it should help. But I'm falling behind on the 400 pt Pokerstars TLB hunt
