Haha honestly no problem, didn't mind the post at all as I was going to make one at some point before the FT probably anyway as I have for some other tournaments. I was super super super short with like 200 left and won an AI with AK vs QQ (I remember stalling with the AK to get the payout jump) and from then on was nearly always top 25% of the field for most part iirc.

Will respond to other stuff later/tomorrow, going to get in a quick sesh of 25bb before more of the Euros get on. Just watched Sharapova destroy Bouchard and Berdych pound on Rafa, pretty insane Berdych had lost 17 straight matches to Nadal coming into this match. Yea anyway, need to get this sesh going before it's too late!

There is a lack of new American players making the move and year over year attrition to the guys who play full time online. There are very few under 21 guys playing in Mexico because they never played on Stars pre BF anyway. The young guys are all out cutting their teeth live and playing on .us online sites occasionally.

Its just the natural way of things. Over time a lot of guys just drop out. It was the same way 5 years ago. Either variance caught up with them or they found something they would rather spend their time on. There are ~0 players in Cabo right now when that used to be loaded with sickos.

Add to that, of course, that there are much better places in the world to live than Rosarito or Cabo and people have moved on.

I didn't want you to grind the extra hours for nothing or make you feel like that I was freerolling you. So i snap sent and didn't think much of it.

I got the $$ back but feel a little bad about it
Def don't feel bad, I am mainly happy I got 10k vpps as that is just something that will very very very rarely happen this yr and that was the main motivation of me offering the bet. Should have been more clear, my apologies!

I think it helps a lot more than most people think. As I talked about in the recent TPE podcast I was on, I think most 25bb hyper players, as long as they have some understanding of MTTs aren't punty, will transition to most other forms of poker quite well. Mainly comes from edges being so small and you just having to be super precise nearly every single hand, both preflop and postflop spots, just to stand a chance to do better than break even in the $100+ hypers.

I think a big problem a lot of SNG guys have who don't play many mtts or don't have an MTT background is they tend to punt a lot, not realizing how many MTTers are playing their ranges in different spots in different tournaments/tournament formats at different points of the tournament. It's hard to explain, but I feel from living with so many great mid-hsmtters over the past yrs, I really understand how most of the non great mtters play in a lot of spots.

Yea, could ramble on and on, but it really depends on the player (the sng player trying to play mtts that is), think some will insta do really well and others would have a huge struggle initially, but nearly all the HS hyper guys have the potential to be absolutely crushing HSMTTs.

Yea pretty much agree exactly with doggz and clayton. There were a lot of 'witherists' as I liked to call them at the peak of Rosa traffic, and then a lot of the heros moved on to better places. So between those 2 groups being mostly MIA now, doesn't leave a lot of players left really. Def a lot of SoCal/related guys in the area and makes complete sense with how close we are to the US.

And yea, hit that study grind! Honestly I have as much fun studying spots as I do grinding a lot of the time, when you get sort of good at using a lot of the postflop tools and understand opponents ranges etc, it can be quite fun to break down hands and figure out how to exploit your opponents or find the gto of a spot, whatever it might be.

Hitting the MTT grind the rest of this week starting tomorrow, TCOOP has me all (inlove) with MTTs . Taking today off other than currently playing this TCOOP 215 8m, ran errands with Ruse yday and grocery shopped this morning, came back and played a bit of bball before the 215 and plan to go out and take some serves and shoot around for a bit more before watching Venus/Keyes and Serena/Cibulkova. Edit as typing this: Actually lending my car to my massage therapist as she needs to use it for a client who doesn't live on the bus route, and then gonna get a massage, so might not get in more outside time (rain).

Actually interestingly enough, Madison Keyes is from Rock Island, Illinois, which is about an hour away from me and is where I played quite a few tennis tournaments in high school. My coach from when I was young through my sophomore yr in HS actually has coached against her which is pretty cool. Gotta root for her over Venus ldo!

Also if anyone wants a sweat on the TCOOP Hrer, thread is here

Glgla on the tables, hopefully have some sweats the rest of this week!

So, lot more MTT sweats than otherwise planned .

Hit the grind like an hour ago, planning on a huge Friday grind, probably loading til sometime around the Hot 109. Gla today
Warms my heart to hear that! I think you just made your rest of year grind a lot more fun. GL buddy.

Was about to ask you if you watch the Aussie open (and other tennis) since you said you play yourself. Curious do you think there is any reason for the decline in the us men tennis, or is it just lack of talented generation?

Missed again to buy a share, damn your packs are sold out immediately. And no wonder, from what I've seen on the marketplace you could have gone bigger on the mu. GL!

I was really out of the loop with tennis for the past 2 yrs, as in I barely watched any of the majors even and definitely didn't ever pay attn to it outside of the Grand Slams. I'm just getting back into watching, probably correlating with me getting back into attempting to play a bit.

I'm assuming there's a lot of variance when it comes to something like a generation worth of talent in something like tennis. Maybe I'm wrong, but idk, can't think of any better answer. There seems to be a ton of US women on the upswing, pretty sick 3 of 8 women that made the qtrs were from the US. But yea, I'm not really sure on the men's side. The USTA seemed to be doing a lot of great things while I was playing as a youth/high school, so you'd think we'd still be developing quite a few super talented players, but def weird the lack of any outstanding American men at all. Heh, just rambled for a long while saying essentially nothing .

And haha, yea I think my MU's are more fair than most (maybe all?) in the MP, especially for guys selling mid-hs's heavy/only schedules. I literally will probs have one of the bigger edges in the HRer, and a decent chance the highest expected edge of anyone selling in the 2p2 MP, and yet I will probably have one of the lowest MU's attached. There will without a doubt be a lot of action bought in non profitable HRer packs this weekend imo but meh, nothing new there.

Beddd, big MTT grind tomorrow, pretty excited! Missed part of the Williams/Keys match as I got a massage (still waiting for my car to return heh), but Keys def looked quite strong at the start of the match when I was watching the most. Think she will be showered pretty hard by Serena, Serena/Sharapova match could be really sick with how Sharapova has looked since fighting off those 2 match points a few rounds ago.

ZZZing in a few, here's for some rungood tomorrow!

Lol decent chance these were all stolen from phishman or omgsuperstar, seems their styles and I just bookmark hella

JMO on the men's tennis, but they don't have any really good personalities lately, like Agassi or McEnroe. When Becker used to play, he would dive all over the court. Connors would just blow up and go ballistic at a moment's notice. It was fun to watch as a fan because you never knew what was going to happen. Sorry but watching Nadal whine is just very boring.

Have literally never come across a person who will give up money in a daily/not big prizepool event so it ends up just being a waste of time . Actually going to stop dealing I think, my edge is too large shorthanded and HU and even thoughg the variance is really high, I think I need to just play almost everything out.

    01-28-2015 , 06:12 PM
I think you had a shot there to get a better deal.

    Spoiler:
Prob a bit of variance to it but think there are some other factors. Tennis has lost some of the prestige it used to have in the US. I think the rise of soccer/golf/lacrosse over the last few decades has taken away a lot of the youth demographic that would have been going into tennis in the US. And of course money and infrastructure that would have gone into training youth for tennis has gone into those sports, other youth activites; as well as straight disappeared as the US gets broker and decides spending money keeping youth fit isnt a priority.

nh OP. props to siggo for not jinxing this one.
