I never took in to consideration the small stack in the blinds and these guys will look for opportunities to squeeze(well the reg ones anyway) as I found last night when I caught one shoving A5o when someone raised and got about 3 or 4 callers. Are we considering this as a 3bet simply because of the shorty or because the CO probably opens so wide and its going to be hard to get paid off when I do flop a set against that range?

It seems I do need to get in to a habit of checking certain things, although I do have some of the things on display I dont have WTSD and flop Check/fold anywhere other than a pop up. I would say its fair that one of my leaks is that I play too much on `feel` without making use of the information that is actually available to me.

I think with hand 2 I got far too carried away with the flop texture without considering the villain, again guilty of not reading the information I have correctly.
We are considering a 3bet w 44, because if we flat it's a great spot for the 40bb stack to squeeze(if hes a reg). It's also a spot where ranges are so wide that getting paid when you flop a set won't happen often enough to call a small PP there vs a cutoff open. We are also considering a 3bet because of villains postflop tendencies which you didn't mention but would be a consideration.( these tendencies could also make the 44 an easy flat )The fact that it's 3x instead of 2x or 2.25x is a consideration as well. However out of all 3 options, call, fold, or 3bet -3betting is the least perferable and something that is an option, and should be used very sparingly. Conditions need to be pretty ideal to 3bet w 44 in that spot but the conditions do happen. Having said all that if there is fish in the Big Blind, we are never 3 betting 44 even if the 40bb player is a reg and squeezes like it's his job

Ok thanks. I think I get that and really need to be taking a lot more notice of villain tendancies when making decisions.

This was another one from yesterdays session, again not sure if its a decent spot.

    Thought Process And Villains Range:-

Pre: I think AJ Plays pretty well against his opening range. I guess I could 3bet but wonder if a call may be more profitable?

Flop: Its not the worse flop for my hand but I feel if I just call the flop then my options suck a bit on the turn unless I improve and the villain bets. So a semi bluff raise knowing I can still fold if he shoves. Is his range wide enough for this to work often enough?

I dont know really, Ive usually seen them to have a strong range when they get the money in post flop rather than pre. So just exploring the possibilities really.

      Thought Process And Villains Range:-

Pre: A5o Is good to iso the fish imo.

Flop: Betting the flop for value from quite a wide range of hands.

Turn: His range narrows now and I think he has Ax but also high cards that hold a decent heart. Theres also 56 and maybe a gutshot or two but that feels thin. I still feel Im betting for value but not really sure now.

River: Trying to work out if he folds anything if I bluff the river, do I get him to fold better Aces? I dont expect him to fold high flush cards.

        Thought Process And Villains Range:-

Pre: I like flatting and think AQ does well against his likely opening range.

Flop: When he bets the flop I have to suspect he connects with it in a pretty strong way. Im expecting decent Ax, Sets, and possibly FD`s, Im not sure he bets with hands like TT-KK. Im calling thinking I still have the best hand and hoping the fish comes along.

Turn: When he checks the turn I think we can rule out sets most of the time so Im thinking FD`s and also some Ax. Not sure if I should bet here, I guess I get value from his FD`s and fold out a lot of other hands that I may get calls from on the river. Maybe a small bet works here?

River: I river trips and the villain leads, not sure if I can raise here. I think a raise looks super strong and Im not sure worse calls. I think we can estimate that he is betting the river because he thinks he has the best hand rather than turning a busted draw in to a bluff.

          Thought Process And Villains Range:-

          Pre:

Flop: I think its a pretty decent flop. Betting the flop wanting to bet the turn on a lot of spades and any J/Q/K/A. Is the Ten a bad card? Not sure I would be that keen on the Ten unless its the Spade.

Turn: Bonus get a Spade and an overcard. Trying to keep up the story of strength now and the villain takes his time before calling.

River: I dont think the 5 on the river is the best card obviously but I suspect the villain isnt that strong. Im thinking hands like T9/98/T8/TT/88. I guess Jx is possible and maybe hands like KQ that I obviously beat but I got the feeling on the turn that he is weighted towards a marginal hand that I could get a fold from by betting.

Turn: When It gets checked through I suspect I might have the best hand especially when the reg checks the turn. Hoping to get calls from the fish and any worse Qx.

River: I dont see the reg having Ax when we get another Ace on the river. Im thinking hands like TT/maybe JJ/QJ/QT/99 that may call a small bet. With the villain been straight forward Im not expecting to get bluff raised and think a small bet may get calls from those hands.

A5. WP IMO. I also like your sizing now. Betting OTR is a bluff to fold out better Ax hands. Readless I wouldn't do so.

AQ: How big would you have bet OTR had the villain not led out? I'm not sure but what about min raising here (as I would have bet half pot if checked to me).

AQs: Looks fine although I give up often OTR (against stations though).

QKs: IDK if he folds to a bet of $5?!?

I think AQ hand I would have bet about half pot maybe slightly less thinking he calls with some of his underpairs that may now convince themselves they are good. I am leaning towards betting the turn though.

Turn: Great card for me missing all draws. Again maybe going a touch bigger as the board hasnt changed really. Hes calling any Tx/Any Spade draw/ Any Straight Draw/ and other random stuff. Been a fish Im expecting him to raise with a nuttish hand.

I just got the feeling throughout the hand that he wasnt strong. Fish just love to raise strong hands and his shove just felt like please fold.

Forgot to mention as well that Im back trying to tile my tables as I stopped a while back and started stacking because it lessened my tilt problems but with those under control now I thought I would try and ramp up the pressure a bit and when I am 12 tabling or less I am now tiling and so far it seems

Getting pretty grossed out at the moment with how Im running/playing.

So I had a good day yesterday but then today Im just slapped in the face time and time again. People make calls against me that are just unexplainable and then Im running bad on top of that.

Not tilting though just a bit frustrating that its like a rollercoaster ride at the moment.

All villains are regs and on the turn he reps AT and thats it really. Its hard for him to have AA/TT. Can I possibly fold?

Villiain in this one has been loose and splashy.

My hand improves and he had called the flop raise with AK? Just totally absurd.

Thi one is my favourite though. Villain is something like 16/13 reg and Ive no history with him that I can remember.

4 over cards on the river and he makes that call? I mean if I have 7x and decide to turn it in to a bluff Im stil winning. Obviously I have air when he hero calls.

33 Cannot fold IMO. Unless you are showing agg monkey stats, sb makes a bad call multi way oop against two other regs range. Can I ask why you didn't raise flop? again multi way I think I raise here.

KQ wp looks good esp as he is short.

T9 Not sure I like the pre call here against a reg, unless you have a read that his stealing is out of line. As played I have no idea why he thinks his 93rd pair is good.

Don't forget Mart I am just thinking out loud, it's all practice to me

With the 33 hand I just thought the flop was too dry and multi way it just looks so strong.

T9 he is stealing over 50% and I just expected to take the pot down enough post flop to show a profit. I guess when he cn call me with 5th pair maybe my plan isnt so good.

I am fast losing the will to play poker at the moment. Do you ever get that feeling that you really dont know what you are doing and are just clicking buttons?

Villain is a reggy looking player and I have been loose on this table.

My thoughts on this hand are how the **** can he call the turn bet? I call his 3bet, I bet the turn and he calls the big turn bet with Ace high. I mean what does he put me on when I bet here? Did I just get soul read? I honestly dont know because I would never call that bet on the turn with AK which makes me think Im doing something really wrong.

Edit: just looked at my lol bet sizing but still.

This one I think I should just shoot myself for folding. TPTK in a 3bet pot against a relative unknown and Im thinking because of how I am running that I am never good. What is he repping? 99/KK/AA lol.

About the AK hand what was your plan when raised on the flop? Particularly the turn - I am guessing you called there because of the sizing?

The second AQ hand if he is a decent reg did you consider turning your hand into a bluff on the river? Though on a second thought it doesn't make much sense as played....

I am just thinking out loud here, I don't play at your level. Hope your run good starts now, best of luck.

The AK hand I am really not sure what Im thinking the only thing going through my head is how can I be behind with AK on a K99 board and if the villain has 99/KK then why would he raise but then on the river Im sure I am beat but in all honesty I bet Im good here a decent amount of the time, either that or splitting.

AQ hand Yeah I did think about it but I put his range for check/calling the turn as something like JJ/QQ/KK/AA so I just didnt think I could get a fold. If that had of happened about 3 months ago I would have smashed stuff around the room but luckily I kept it under control.

Theres something just not clicking for me and Im not really sure what it is, be it bad hand reading, spewing or simply getting in bad spots. I dont want to just say that Im running bad because there has to be other stuff as well.

Got a snow day today so no work so going to try and go over every hand that i VPIP in yesterdays sessions and pick out some stuff that might help.

Just a few thoughts on my mind that I am not getting.

At the moment it seems that everyone is 3betting me a ton yet when we do see a SD they are always strong but if I keep folding to 3bets all the time and dont defend then Im just going to get 3bet even more by people who see I am simply folding nearly all my range.

I also get the feeling that I should simply fold to every single raise that I face post flop unless I have like the nuts or 2nd nuts because once again I seem to be behind when I get to SD. Again though this is going to have the counter effect that people should simply raise me a ton because Im going to fold a ton.

Im just wondering how people can play at this level or above and play pretty variance free? How are they not having swings are they simply folding a ton like I mention above, whats the deal?

Its like I have played 21 sessions this month losing 11 and winning 10 but a lot of my winning ones are really small ones but all of my losing sessions are big losses apart from 2. It seems rare to be in a big pot at the moment and actually have a hand that is good. I seem to be doing ok in the small pots but the bigger ones Im just getting crushed.

Again I seem to be at the point where Im now trying to force things because I dont see things happening normally so Im putting myself in spots that I probably shouldnt be in.

                                      Pure piss take:-

Villain is 16/14 90% fold to 3bet. Oh you think you can flat without him hitting? At which point do I fold?
