Another advantage to LA, we get to become regs on LATB!

But we do risk Wendy commentating on our play putting us on perma life tilt.

I keep track of expenses too but only the ones directly associated with poker. So gas, hotels, airfare, etc. But why are you tracking clothing and cigars? These are leisure items that you would be buying if you had any other job anyways. Congrats on a successful road trip to Florida, hope you keep crushing.

Poker Income. Not sure about iphone. Whatever you use make sure you back your data up haha

MAC harddrive crash, what!? gross. All I have is that screenshot unless my recovery plan works. Lost the data points but have the summary.

I've always wanted to live in California. Count me in For LA.

Back at my foxwoods home, relaxing at the MGM. Playing the next two days, setting some goals for January and getting back into my daily routines.
If you guys are planning on a trip to LA, you guys should PM me when you arrive in LA. I enjoy meeting up-and-coming live poker pros. If you don't mind getting a few tips on the LA poker scene from an LA live poker pro, I could give you guys a good road map to navigating LA live poker.

Thanks brother, always crushing the pokerz. Yea those expenses aren't poker related or necessarily within the domain of travelling for poker. Put them in because poker roll = life roll, all expenses hurt the roll

+$972 5 hour session at Foxwoods

Roll = $20,400.
Roll would be $24,500 if I spent $0 since I started this thread. That means I am spending roughly $1600/month, while not paying for rent (occasional hotel room expenses) and not paying for the majority of food (Foxwoods comps 100%, Florida comped 20%) Expenses have been holding me down, going to work on reducing them.

Christmas is going to cost me a grand or so, then I'm going to work on conserving the roll to the extreme. I lost the biggest fish at my 2/5 table to the 5/T game today. I want to be in that game more than I want a cigar, a beer, vices or entertainment. The pure necessities, lads. Going to cut back significantly on everything else.

Home for Christmas Dec 24-28. Foxwoods 29-31. NYE celebrations. Then a significant Foxwoods grind through January, I'll be setting goals for the month and posting them up here. Expect high volume, experimentation, improvement, and soul destruction.

Most are drinking. The boys and I are gambling. $14.5k on the table. $2.1k in front of me. Brad and I exchange $500 buyins. We crush the fish.

My goals for 2014 are simple

5/T
Earn $100,000
Bankroll $100,000
Be a boss at all other facets of life.

Happy new year, gentlemen. Thanks for following

Poker roll should not = life roll. I'm a total BRM nit still at this point, but isn't the reason poker and life rolls should be separate. I'm a big advocate of at least 20 BI's for the stake we are playing (30 BI's or more even for variance's sake), and having at least 3 months living expenses in the life roll, separately. Honestly, 6 months expenses would be even better in case life smacks us in the face with a cooler.

Saw another post just before or after the one I quoted here where you said your roll is around 20k. That is pretty well-rolled for 2/5 IMO, so, and this is just my opinion, I would try to start grinding that life roll up over the next few weeks, while still adding to your poker roll. Say you book a solid 1.5-2k win one day. Split that between your life roll and poker roll, favoring the life roll, as your poker roll is solid at this point. Do that over a few solid weeks and you have your 3 mos living expenses segregated from your poker roll, and now you can start favoring the poker roll with your wins while still padding the life roll a little as well.

Also, sounds like the house near MdLive plan is no more, huh. Best of luck to you guys out in LA. And shoot me a line if you guys do make out to the MdLive area sometime. Don't think I'll be making any cross-country trips too soon.

after the clock strikes midnight, and all the songs have been song and kisses and hugs have gone round... then what else is there to do?

For some, they will dance the night away, but for others, why not go to the casino and have some fun????

What else can you do at 1am or later???

What else is open 24 hrs ???

Remember, for most rec-fish, going to the casino is the equivalent to going out to the dance clubs or bar

I've always wanted to play on NYE. Just think of how many people have resolutions to "play better next year", or "control tilt better", "not bluff the stations" and so on. That all starts next year though, which isn't until after midnight. I can just see them all "getting it out of their system", and spewing $$ away.

At least up until midnight for some, and then they prob turn into a rock and nit the rest of the session up so they can try and book that first win of the new year. Or maybe they just continue to spew the entire session because it's still their last session of the year.

Just an idea I've always had anyway. I'm gonna have to go and find out one of these years.

An addition to my wall of text on BRM :

Once we have our life/poker rolls well established and on their own, we should be working towards first putting the current month's expenses into the life roll with our winning sessions at the beginning of each month. Then, once we make our nut for the month (pay the bills), we can add to our poker roll with our winnings. Mind you, once we make our nut, and are now padding our poker roll, we should def still be trying to add at least a small % to our life roll. That is how we get ahead of what we need to have in our life roll should we eventually get coolered somewhere in life. Life is f'ing expensive.

Was planning on going home tonight, but a snow storm struck and I wouldn't be able to get back to Foxwoods. F**k missing two days of grinding, who needs clean clothes?

Took some bong rips with PZ last night and watched one of Vanessa Selbst's Deuces Cracked Vids. Mind instantly blown, Purchased a membership and anticipate radical improvement to my game. Played with new Galaxy S4, nut best smartphone.

Inspired to improve. To crush. Best in the field. Higher stakes. Fear in my opponents eyes. Discipline. Learn. Withhold not the slightest effort. Focus. Foxwoods will be my home for January.

January Poker Goals:

[5] Volume: 200 Hours
[$1,097] Profit: $10,000
[2] Watch 60 Deuces Cracked Videos
[0] Write 50 significant hands in phone
[] Have a significant impact on improving a friend's game.
[] Box reserved to list notable improvements in my game

Key. They are here to have fun. You don't be that "Pro" with headphones and no social skill. Holding non-poker conversation with action players and a simple un-sarcastic "nice hand" is a +EV play for a plethora of reasons.

I don't mean to sound as if I am not taking your ideas on BRM / Money management seriously, however you need to realize that as a professional your poker roll is simply everything you own. These are not my words, but Daniel Negreanu's truthful but not so tactful response to his wife's inquiries.

Yes, the plan now is to look for a place in LA. Certainly will meet up next time I'm at MDLive!

This is pretty good advice.

It helps mentally and emotionally to have a separate roll for whatever life expenses come up. So start squirreling away money for a life roll especially with WSOP coming up. It will be here before you know it!!!!

seatopenpoker.net is only for live - podcast and video each week and soon to come the EPIC limon show. And there's 1 series on deucescracked for live - I'm only 2 episodes in though. And liveatthebike is just worth watching to just see how bad people play.

If I had to guess I'd say Unconventional Wisdom: Season Premiere is the video. Some really good stuff about 3-betting and playing postflop.

My brother and I were talking about that quote from Negreanu the other day. I have to say that is the dumbest thing I've ever heard leave the mouth of a professional poker player. Especially someone who has been as successful as he has. There is no reason he shouldn't have an ENORMOUS poker roll and a completely separate life roll that is even bigger.

Second dumbest would prob be Lindgren saying he has a gambling problem. Stay the f*** out of the damn sports book and the pits a**hole !! If you know it's a leak, and for him it seems to be a HUGE leak, then STOP IT !! Put a bounty on yourself like dgiharris has. If someone spots you doing what you know you shouldn't be and they call you on it, pay up and get the hell outta there.
