Are you in MD?

iBar in Baltimore has the best wings I've ever had. Get their buffalo hot wings fried hard chef style. The owners are from Buffalo.

I know the twice fried deal. Cook wings at 265 for 15 min, toss em back in fridge then deep fry at 400 for a couple min. True buffalo style

Been sick the last couple of days. Hoping that I wake up feeling better tomorrow cuz I wanna get back into the gym and putting hours in at the table. Will do the 2015 recap sometime this week. Not gonna put weekly goals up cuz if I still feel awful tomorrow I'm not sure if I'll do the gym or play.

Gonna be a guest on The Thinking Poker podcast today. Not sure when it will be up to listen to but I will post a link whenever it's available.

Looking at past guests they have had and wondering "why the hell do they wanna talk to me?" Lol

Just subscribed to their feed. I don't recognize any of the other names they've interviewed, so you should fit right in haha.

Looking forward to hearing it, Randal. Always liked yours and Chad's spots on Limon's podcasts

Finished listening to the podcast, very good stuff RG. You've inspired me to start a PC&G thread. Don't think I'll be able to come up with a catchy title for it like you did, so I'm open to suggestions.

My podcast with Thinking Poker has been released. Here is the link:

http://www.thinkingpoker.net/2016/01...-j-jurkiewicz/

It was fun to do even though I was sick as hell when I recorded it (sorry for the constant sniffling). In reference to the exact dollar amount figure answer that I gave, I'll just say that I'm always super paranoid about who is listening to these things and leave it at that.

It still blows my mind that people are actually interested in what I have to say. It's definitely been very humbling for me and just motivates me to keep grinding and improving in any way I can. Thanks to everyone who reads this and listens to these podcasts. It means the world to me.

I'll talk more in my next full update about some specific questions that I've had more time to reflect on since the recording. Sometimes my mouth moves faster than my brain when I'm doing these things.

This week is going well so far. Eating super clean, gym every day, putting hours in, etc. Will have goals up for next week.

Hey Randal,

I listened today as well. Good stuff. Appreciate the truth. Could you maybe talk more about the 1 on 1 coaching you received? In the pod cast you said your sorta of "ah ha" moment was when you were asked; "why are you putting money into the pot?"

Thanks

Coming out of 2p2 hibernation to commend you on the journey to success and documenting it for us all.

I gave up the thrills of poker for a real career although still have lots of time to play recreationally (binked big $22 on Stars yesterday, Canada FTW). I love reading these underdog success stories and rooting for you because it makes the dream seem possible. I won't bore you with my poker story mostly because some details I can't include on a public forum but shoot me a PM if you're bored one day and wanna hear it.

On an aside, "Blink" by Malcolm Gladwell should be at the top of your list of books to read. Very relatable to poker and I believe he made popular the 10,000 hour rule.

Ya, more of this lol

I know you said just the thought process behind each action you take at the table was eye opening but what was Kidd's curriculum if you will lol was it a broad power point type of thing to start and then breaking down hands with him one on one ? Did it focus on the type of opponents you will play against and developing a strategy for each one ?

What were some of your early leaks that, he fixed right away? Or leaks that you know now are very common in low stakes nl..

Good work on the podcast. As a cash game grinder, I thought you would have prepped for the inevitable bank/life roll questions with a canned reply like: "I won't disclose my personal finances, but here's what I recommend for your listeners who are contemplating a go on their own.". Your perspective is relatively unique, and that's why Nate and Andrew wanted you as a guest. Thank you for sharing your story.

No set goals this week. Going to Borgata Wed-Mon to dust off in the opening event. Might stay longer and play some main event satellites. Been eating real well lately and got my weight back down to where it was before the holidays started.

Purchased this and hung it above my bed. The message of the artwork really resonates with me and I get goosebumps when I look at it still. I think Banksy would think the idea of his artwork hanging on someones wall was really dumb but f##k it I really like it lol:

Life is going great for me right now so this is gonna be another weak update lol. I'll try and get some goals up and that podcast review up next Sunday.

Would you listen to a podcast hosted by him where he just talks poker? I would probably pay for it.

Thanks for listening and yeah my voice throws some people off. I've been told I look older than 26 and it's mainly due to being 6'5" and having such a deep voice.

The coaching began with a powerpoint presentation that was a wealth of information that was really hard for me to absorb at first. After I got the powerpoint down cold the 1 on 1 coaching really kicked into gear. It mainly included HH reviews but I would also approach Chad with different random questions that I had like what really good check raise spots were depending on opponents and board textures and what not and he would break down the entire concept for me which helped a great deal.

Thanks for reading! I have read all of Gladwell's books already and I think I read Blink and The Tipping Point twice each. Really enjoy his writing style.

I touched on most of this above but I think the biggest leak that was plugged was cbetting and double/triple barreling too often when it wasn't warranted. I didn't realize how much money could be lit on fire by just constantly auto cbetting even when the board textures and villains didn't call for a cbet in a particular spot. Same goes with barreling turns and rivers when it was going to be very difficult to get villains to fold their hands due to how the boards run out.

Thanks for listening. Yeah I realize now that my story and perspective is pretty unique and that's why I've become slightly popular within poker. I'm the guy who couldn't consistently win, had a crappy job, was out of shape and then turned everything around through hard work and dedication. Kind of like the reason Rocky was such a successful movie.
