Got my laptop charger back. Gonna properly format my weekly goals at the end of this post. This past week was pretty uninteresting. Fell short of 40 hours but recorded a decent amount of HH's for the amount of time I played. Went to Parx on Saturday to play the Big Stax 300 and busted shortly after dinner break of Day 1. Got a mention on the blog with two of my friends:

http://parxpokerbigstax.blogspot.com...-late.html?m=1

Took today off and just watched football and cooked up a sh*t ton of chicken, veggies, and quinoa to eat this week. Another thing I've started doing is going back and taking extensive notes in a black marble composition notebook on threads/articles/podcasts/books that I find really interesting and helpful. Sort of like a cliffnotes version of some really insightful articles that have helped me with my game and I put a good amount of study hours in this past week. I'm almost done with limon's well right now notes wise. It will be helpful to look through this notebook weekly or bi-weekly and keep my game sharp. I've always found that by physically writing notes down I absorb information a lot better than reading or typing would.

Goals for 12/7/15-12/13/15
[ ] Play 40 hours of poker
[ ] Write down 20 HH's
[ ] Post 2 HH's in this thread next Sunday
[ ] Gym 5 days
[ ] Meal plan 7 days
[ ] Spend 5 hours taking notes on insightful poker material

I type all my HH's in my notes app on my phone.

Physically writing stuff down with pen and paper and then rereading it later is definitely my best way to retain information.

[38.75] Play 40 hours of poker
[11] Write down 20 HH's

[6/7] Gym 5 days
[6.5/7] Meal plan 7 days

Fell just short of a couple here but I still consider last week a pretty big success. The other day I realized that my last losing session of poker was on November 13th and it was when I dicked around and lost 81 bucks in 2 hours at the Borgata playing 2/5 killing time before I met someone for dinner. Going over a month without having a losing session seemed like an impossibility given what I went through this summer but the cards are finally starting to swing the other way. I fell short of the meal plan because Saturday night I went out with some friends and watched the UFC card and had a couple of drinks (and wings ofc). Killing it in the gym lately and I'm definitely the strongest I've ever been.

One thing I've been focusing on lately is deciding before I even leave the house if I'm going to dedicate myself to playing my absolute A-game. If I have any doubt about whether or not I'm going to do my best to play absolutely perfect poker, I just won't go play. I see no point in it. Right now I'm trying to build a habit of never doing anything EXCEPT playing my A game. Auto Piloting is an absolute killer and something I'm trying to completely eliminate from my game. This makes it hard to put in massive volume but if I have to sacrifice a few hours or so a week of B and C game poker to make sure 100% of my hours are A game, I think it's worth it. Coincidentally I haven't listened to any music, looked at my ipad, and massively cut down on the amount of time I spend on my phone at the table over the past month. I doubt this is coincidental with my success lately. You should never really be bored at the poker table. Sure it's painfully slow but there are always things you can be learning about your opponents each and every hand. It's easy to let yourself slip into autopilot and listen to Adele's new album while you fold for two hours but I promise that when you do this, you're costing yourself money. A lot of it.

I'm pretty excited for the new year coming up soon. It's really motivating to know I"m going to be entering the new year playing the best poker of my life, being in the best physical shape of my life, being in a really good mental state, and living with a bunch of my friends. I'm gonna start working on my 2016 goals soon.

I was called out in another thread by ATsai about consistently failing my goals and how no one jumps all over me about them. In response I just want to say that since starting this thread I've basically found a new lease on life. I went from sleeping in my truck in the Borgata parking garage grinding 1/2 on the weekends after my sh*t job to playing and beating the highest stakes the casinos have to offer while learning from some of the best poker players I know. I went from having very frequent bouts of depression, wondering why I was even alive, to being able to deal with the depression a lot better over the past two years. I went from a fat slob with social anxiety issues to a slightly less fat slob with slightly less social anxiety issues and I've met a ton of great people in Maryland, many whom I know I will consider lifelong friends. If this is considered consistently failing then I hope I keep up with the failure.

I also don't give paper-thin excuses for why I don't reach my goals (unless you consider depression an excuse). I take full responsibility for my goals and whether or not I reach them. I also don't owe anyone anything that happens to be reading this thread. I don't mean any offense by that but this thread is mainly for me to consistently improve myself as much as I can. This doesn't mean that I'm not happy whenever someone introduces themselves to me, PM's me, DM's me and tells me how they love my thread and how inspiring it is. I love that stuff and it keeps me motivated to keep updating this thing however I really don't care what someone I've never met over the internet thinks about me falling an hour short of my weekly goal. But enough with this boring crap, here's two HH's:

5/10 Eff stacks ~1950
Preflop (15): Hero is in SB with 65
Hero opens for 40, BB calls.

BB is 2p2'er miamicheats. Total fish

Flop (80): A 4 3
Hero bets 50, BB calls.

Turn (180): 3
Hero checks, BB bets 100, Hero calls.

River (380): 2
Hero checks, BB bets 375, Hero jams 1800, BB folds.

-----------------------------------------------

2/5 Eff stacks ~1300
Preflop (17): Hero is OTB with 88
Straddled pot
3 limps, Hero limps, BB limps, straddle checks

This is a really great table where people will call huge amounts preflop so there is no point in me trying to raise the limpers here. It will just go 4-5 ways anyway and I'll have two eights in a bloated pot postflop. At tables like this I like to just see a flop for ten bucks, flop a set, and build a pot post.

Flop (60): 9 8 5
Checks to Hero who bets 60, MP and HJ call.

Turn (240): Q
Checks to Hero who bets 125, MP raises to 325 with ~900 behind, HJ folds, Hero calls.

MP just has JT here like every single time. Pair that board dealer.

River (890): Q
MP bets 325, Hero jams for ~925 total, MP calls MHIG vs JTo

EZ game.
------------------------------------

Goals for this coming week will be scaled down (what a failure) due to the fact that I have a friend from NJ visiting on Friday for the entire weekend so I'm gonna try and put 30 hours in Mon-Thu. I just finished up a 7.25 hour session and headed to bed.

Goals for 12/14/15-12/20/15
[ ] 30 hours of poker
[ ] 15 HH's written down for review
[ ] Take poker notes for 5 hours
[ ] Gym 5 days

[ ] Blackout drunk Saturday night in Canton after the Jets beat the Cowboys

Good for you. No one (especially me) cares whether you have played 1200 instead of 1600 hours of volume in 2015. Just as no one cares whether you have won 60k at poker in 2015 instead of the 250k that you stated as your goal for 2015.
